This review is a conflicting one for me because the food here was impressive, but my overall perception of the experience was hindered by a few frustrating aspects. Our table had a mix of plates, including my Sin of Sins french toast (caramelized rum sauce with candied bacon) which was delightful, benedicts which were delicious, and a dash of various sides including a cinnamon roll (which was adequate) and country ham (amazing). Again, our food was a highlight as you would hope it would be at an establishment such as this.
The elements that were frustrating began with the hostess who was also bussing tables. Because of this, there was a delay in sitting patrons. She would be cleaning a table, often making two or three trips to do so, and moving on to another table to clean, while patrons were waiting at the door (which had limited space to begin with, a max of 6-8 people could reasonably stand there). There appeared to be plenty of staff (servers and kitchen) which was a pleasant surprise, but not sure why the lady, who admittedly was not the youngest person working the floor, was having to manage both of these very important aspects herself. Our party, along with another in front of us, essentially sat ourselves, with the other actually grabbing their own silverware.
After we were seated, no one came to our table for almost 10 minutes. Finally, we asked the waiter at the next table over who was our server. He went and checked the hostess stand, only to return to tell us that apparently she had failed to notify the appropriate waitress we were her table. When she came to take our order, she apologized for being notified so late. It took some time to get our drinks, but the waitress was attentive and nice.
When we got our check and paid, we were surprised at the price. We reviewed the check and learned two things. First, we ordered three drinks at our table, two of which were listed in the menu, but the third, a peach mimosa, did not have prices listed. The drink was served in a flute glass, and was an okay mimosa, but cost $9, compared to an espresso martini $8 (heavy on the Bailey's creamer and light on espresso), and a drink special, a maple old fashion ($6.50). We were surprised to see that the mimosa was the most expensive drink, especially considering it was served in such a small glass compared to mimosas found at other restaurants. It was sufficient, but not worth $9. Secondly, after getting the check and paying, we noticed there was a 4% charge added on for card payments. The reason given at the bottom of the check was for the rising product costs. While I certainly understand the strain placed on restaurant owners since COVID-19, and have been happy to continue eating our and pay the increased costs, I was surprised patrons were not made aware of this earlier. Granted, we did have two kids, had been in the restaurant for approximately 1.5 hours, and had been waiting to pay so we handed over our card without reviewing the bill because we were ready to leave. We would not have had the cash to pay the bill we had anyway, but it was just an additional frustrating factor to an already irritable experience. I'd much rather have just rolled the cost into my food, which again was fantastic. In retrospect, there was a large festival/parade in town today (St. Patrick's Day Festival) so I wonder if this has any impact on everything? We enjoyed the meal, and certainly will be up for eating here again. But just a few things for other patrons to be aware of, as we did notice multiple other parties who left without ever being seated, and at least one who was seated, but left out of frustration over waiting for what they thought were reasonable amounts of time only to never be visited by a server at their table. Would recommend, but with caution, or at least...
Read moreTook mom here for Mother's Day breakfast. She has been wanting to try the Japanese pancakes. We arrived early and was lucky enough to be seated at the last outdoor table! Weather was gorgeous! We wanted to spoil mom for all that she does and thought an elegant breakfast would be a great way to start the day! The older lady at the front was very friendly and seated us right away. We noticed she was also walking around keeping everything clean too! Wiping tables down, putting stuff away, picking stuff up off the floor. Love that! I hate when you go out to eat and employees walk over stuff on the floor. Great lady there! Wish I would have gotten her name. Our waitress came out shortly. She was friendly but for some reason seemed a little flakey. Maybe she was tired. As I stated earlier we brought mom here to try the Japanese pancakes. (Which btw is their signature dish on the menu) The waitress tells us that the restaurant decided not to make them that day. When I told her how disappointed we were, she did apologize and said they take a long time to make. I said we understand but made a special trip there just to try the pancakes. So we did not want to ruin the morning for my mom so we continued to order. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and French toast sticks to share as breakfast appetizers with coffee and juice. Mom ordered an omelet, I ordered the ham and gouda sandwich and hubby ordered the regular pancakes. After we gave the waitress our order ... I mentioned again how disappointed we were about them not having the Japanese pancakes. I told her I just couldn't believe they wouldn't be serving them on Mother's Day weekend and they should take them off the menu. Five minutes later she comes back and says they will make the pancakes if we still want them. We had already ordered a lot of food but I wasn't about to disappoint my mom. I said of course we still want the pancakes! Bring all the food! We will take home whatever we cannot eat. I have to say the food was wonderful! My mom loved her omelet. My ham & gouda on the crossing was delicious! The French toast and fried tomatoes were very good too! We had a tasting table of goodies for breakfast, great conversation and just a good time enjoying the beautiful weather and spending time together. The Japanese pancakes finally came out but was worth the wait! OMG ! Wish we would have ordered more! We probably would have if we didn't already order so much other stuff. Next time we will order extra. Overall, our visit and the food was terrific! I would definitely go here again but would suggest you call first if you're expecting to try the Japanese pancakes. I just hope they have them next time we go! Now that we've tried them, we're gonna want them fluffy babies! Yum! We'll be back! Get those...

We are locals to the area and love trying new places and Souffle's has been on our list to try for a few years now. We were excited to stop in on Saturday afternoon and give it a try. Unfortunately, this is another tourist trap that is all flash without flavor.
We started our meal with beignets, hopeful a local establishment could create such tasty treats. They arrived darker than expected but smelled heavenly. Unfortunately, the frier was set too high of heat and the insides were still doughy. The beignets themselves, while smelling delicious, had absolutely no flavor. They came with a small ramekin of blueberry lavender syrup which had a very subtle flavor but was tasty. This dish was $9 for a cup of syrup to resurrect a tasteless, undercooked, "treat."
I ordered the chicken and waffle sliders, though I had originally wanted to try the signature souffle pancake dish but we were short on time. The presentation of the dish was lovely, but the waffles and the chicken lacked any flavor. The saviour of the dish was the hot Sriracha syrup that was drizzled over it. The syrup was marvelous with only a hint of heat but full of flavor.
My wife ordered the madam croquet waffle. The presentation, again, was marvelous and it looked delicious! Unfortunately, it tasted like nothing. Now, I am not quite sure how you can have a waffle, ham, cheddar cheese, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce and have no flavor but Souffle's managed it. The only thing on the plate with a hint of flavor would be the hame and it was quite lacking.
All in all we spent almost $60 for what could have been a marvelous breakfast that instead went into the waste bin.
The chefs should consider adding vanilla to their waffle batter and maybe some salt on things. Adding it after the fact is like a layer on top instead of being incorporated from the beginning.
They do have quite the selection of breakfast cocktails so at this point my only thought is they hope people are too wasted to care about the lack of flavor.
I highly doubt we will be returning to Souffle's, which is a shame as the venue itself is quite lovely and the menu looks great. The bedrock that the meals themselves stand up on is flawed though and I fear that everything else will fall to the same fate.
On a side note we don't recommend sitting outside. Many of the tables were covered in flies and...
