I called in an order, and when I asked for the seafood roll, the employee had no idea what I was asking for. He proceeded to read me the whole sushi menu very quickly. I could barely understand him because he was speaking so fast. Towards the end, he said seafood roll.. yes, that’s what I asked for. Ok no biggie, I finished my order and was told 25 min it would be ready. I go in about 30 min later and still had to wait another 10 min. There were no other customers there. Got the food, the guy was nice and even showed me the seafood roll, admitting he had never seen it made before. I hadn’t eaten all day, so I didn’t wait til I got home to try it. It was yummy yay! I also ordered pork egg rolls (received 1, menu says it comes with 2 and I was charged for 2), the Natalie roll (ok, not great), and the scallop bowl. The scallop bowl is truly why the review is so low. It was inedible. I tried one in the car after the seafood roll and nearly puked. It was chewy, tough, bitter and greasy. When I got home, I decided to give it another chance. Nope, nasty. And it had such a bad aftertaste too. Like bitter and tingly on my tongue. Gross. I was skeptical because of the name, Tokyo express… So I’m thinking this is just a takeout place… But if they had seating, we were gonna stay there and eat… So stepping foot into this restaurant.. The place is hot. There’s no AC working , to me that’s a big red flag!!!! I really didn’t wanna order anything from there, but the women in my group were hungry and cranky so it was a do or die decision. Of course I said no way we’re eating in this place with the heat so we ended up ordering to go.. Service was pretty quick brought it back to the hotel. We all ate really no complaints on the taste… … Reason I’m giving a three stars is I don’t know if I’m gonna be sick this evening or tomorrow morning so I’m on the fence on this one… But for a restaurant to operate, they need to have an HVAC system that works to avoid Bacteria growth, etc….. Ordered hibachi steak and hibachi filet, both looked the exact same and were cooked the same. Rubbery and no flavor at all. Don’t even know if they were seasoned other than salt. Philly roll tasted like grocery store sushi, the rice was so thick and the middle was not fresh, and it was $11!!!!! I understand inflation affects everyone, but the prices have increased by probably 25% and the quality of the food is absolute garbage. With the additional credit card fee, we spent $100 on four hibachi entrees and three sushi rolls. Never again. So...
