Grand Traverse Pie Company — Restaurant in Norton Shores

I have had pies from GTPC, but this was my first visit to one of their bakery cafes. I went with my 16 month old daughter. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I appreciate how clean the facility was (bathrooms, changing table and high chair included!).

It was hard to decide because it all looked so tasty, but I ordered a quiche combo with the side salad and a piece of rhubarb pie. I was feeling famished, so added a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. Got Mac n cheese (the real stuff!) along with blueberry apple sauce and a juice box for the little.

There was a mixup, because I was served a pot pie. As I was buckling my little into the high chair, a nice girl from a neighboring table got our food from the counter after they called my name.. so, unfortunately, the food had already left the counter. I did let the counter staff know, but really I didn't mind at all as I couldn't decide between the quiche and the pot pie to begin with...

The cashier was so sweet to pack me up a quiche to go anyway... Not at all expected or necessary, but SO nice!

It wasn't until then that I realized that they forgot about my pie, too! Woops😀. I was Soo stuffed and only ate half the pot pie and probably only 1/4 of the soup... Do we had plenty of leftovers and the packaged the pie to go 🙂. Delicious!

We love the pie and the pasties are our favorite meal here. We really appreciate the gluten free options. It's nice to find somewhere our whole family can enjoy. Update: dropped two stars because all the prices have gone up and portions on the sandwiches and pasties went down along with the quality. I understand inflation, but it shouldn't come with decreased quality or quantity. We rarely eat anything there anymore besides pie. Update again: the price increase and quality loss absolutely did happen, but it's been like two years. I just never thought to update the review before now. First the bread on my favorite sandwich was changed to be much smaller, like plain sandwich bread, with less filling and then my husband's favorite, the pasties, got a change of crust and size. Shortly after prices jumped and we quit coming there for dinner. I don't appreciate being responded to as if I am making things up! Very Disappointed. We called early in the morning, 3 hours before they opened and asked if they had certain pies. We were told they did, and that if we got there at opening we would be fine. When we got there the cashier was clueless, she "looked" in the back, and there was a line out the door. We decided to not ask for a manager because they were slammed and we had to get to our family function. Then when I called, I explained my frustration about calling and being told they had something and when we got there, literally 3rd in line when the doors opened, they had none. The manager went to check, they DID have it, and then she said we could exchange it but would be charged more. Are you kidding Me? You want me to drive all the way back out, we trusted the cashier looked, and then you admit it was your mistake, and still want to upcharge me ? Such a bummer since the pies are so good, won't be...
