Dined at Pi for the first time this afternoon (1/24/16). We stopped for a late lunch (around 3pm) so the restaurant was pretty quiet. The dining area was clean, our waitress was at the table immediately for our drink order. The menu is pretty straightforward with an Appetizer section (did not order appetizer) and then sections for Soup/Salad, Sushi, Korean/Japanese, Thai and Chinese. I had the Hibachi Steak and Shrimp (Japanese) and my wife had the Sweet & Sour Chicken (Chinese). Service was very good - our food was out quickly and waitress stopped to check on us at least twice. She was very friendly and seemed happy to be serving us - I tipped generously.
The Hibachi was delicious - the steak was cooked perfectly (medium) as was the shrimp. Not overly salty which is a mistake a lot of Asian restaurants make - if I want it salty, I'll make it that way. I ordered the fried rice (white or brown are no-cost options) and there was a generous portion of vegetables although it was mostly onions. Also included a dipping sauce that I didn't try - the steak, shrimp and veggies were seasoned just right and had just the right amount of oil/soy sauce.
My wife enjoyed her chicken, she also had the fried rice and veggies. I ate the egg roll that came with her meal, it was small but very good. All in all, a very good meal for about $30 including tip.
We live just far enough away that if I ordered carry-out it might not be very warm by the time we got home. Which is too bad because I think I'd enjoy Pi much more frequently. As it is, we'll definitely go again - good food and good service at reasonable prices. Good overall value - I highly...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to this place on a busy Saturday for the first time. They were severely understaffed, and at one point in the night at maximum capacity. But even so, the quality of the service and food did not suffer. The waitress and hostess were both very kind, even when dealing with the huge swell of people. The miso soup was awesome, tasted very fresh and authentic. We split an order of retro rolls for an app, which were incredibly tasty and wonderful, and I highly recommend them for those who are new to sushi. I got the almond chicken as an entrée, which was very flavorful, though I wish I had ordered the orange chicken instead, after trying it before from take out and liking it. My boyfriend first got the hot and sour soup, which was both hot and sour, but too sour for our tastes, sadly. The waitress happily agreed to exchange the soup for wonton, which was full of crispy snap peas and tasted delightful. If you order an entrée off the Chinese menu, it comes with soup, a choice of egg roll or crab cheese (crab Rangoon) and a choice of different rices. I think this is the best value, for around $10 each, and portions enough for leftovers. My boyfriend ordered the Mongolian beef dish, which he requested to be very, very spicy, but was prepared very mildly, unfortunately. But it still was tasty, like all the rest. Anyways, I’m very pleased with this restaurant. Great service, and affordable pricing. Best Asian restaurant I’ve tried close to home, for the pricing, service, and quality. I hope to come here...
Read moreI have been going to the Pi's in Midland for over 12 years. When I found out there was one in Brighton I was so excited because they serve my favorite dish and I've always had such great food and service in Midland. I moved downstate about 6 years ago and have often driven back up to Midland to have Pi's. I don't know if they are trying to save money because the overhead and Brighton is much more than an Midland but they sacrifice the quality of food. The food was half of the portion size it was not prepared the same as Midland as I've gotten the same exact dish for over 12 years. The service was terrible the server was trying to do her best but often missed at least one of us at drink refills. I have been talking this place up and for $100 with tip for 4 people for fast food quality food it was a complete waste of my money. I was embarrassed that I let down the people I was with after talking so highly of this restaurant and getting them so excited to have their food. I will never go there again. I thought for sure being in Brighton and the competition they have food wise their game would be stepped up compared to Midland but it...
