October 13: not happy here. I have my mom in a wheelchair. Nobody came to help open the door to help me get in. We are the only table, and we had to get our own menus in order to decide what to eat. Took a long Time to get the waiter back to take our order. Ordered egg rolls. Got spring rolls. Ordered hot tea and had to ask for it several times. Ice water with lemon but no ice and they were out of lemons. Now we got my Mom's food but not mine. The waiter came back to tell us that the chef made the wrong fried rice. I'm still waiting for my food. Yes we are still the only rat in table. The waiter apologized for the delay and told us that they had a lot of to go orders to make. That should not be the priority. We kept asking for my entree. They said sorry. But that's not the answer. Where is my meal?
Finally brought my dinner. Forgot the rice. What the hell?
Food: smoked duck. Tasty. Good sauce. Fried rice. Okay. I would have liked the one I ordered. The rice didn't have much to it. Two or three shrimp and some chicken. Beef with pea pods were good. Egg rolls--sorry, spring rolls--were too greasy. Had to have other napkins to soak up the grease.
While we were waiting there was an Uber Eats driver who had to wait almost a half an hour because the kitchen had made only half the order. Then at the end of the meal, because a waiter had never come back, I went and found cartons for our leftovers. I asked to speak with a manager and the waiter brought the only white guy forward. After I told him our experience he told me he was the delivery driver. Say what?? Not a manager?? We had to bag our leftovers before we left. This experience was a bummer because we did like this place and had recommended it. Not...
Read moreTerrible service is the killer at this promising Asian eatery! 2 Saturday's ago I stopped in at the Oak Park location for my first ever visit. It was 1:45 p.m. and I was starving! I have been to the Katy's in Westmont and enjoyed the food.
The decor in Oak Park seemed much more inviting and the food I saw go past me looked great. I was alone, hungry, promptly seated and given a menu. There were only 2 other tables with diners, one with 2 people, one with about 6. After 10 minutes I had to get up to go ask someone if I could order, as the staff was standing around talking to each other. My order was taken: one small hot & sour soup and one order of potstickers. I was excited! Then I waited...and waited...and waited. A few more tables were seated in the interim and food kept going past me on its way to others.
How long can it take to put soup that is surely pre-prepared in a bowl and bring it to me? At 2:25 I went up to the cash register to ask if there was a problem. I was told that the kitchen staff was eating THEIR lunch and mine was up and would be out in 2 minutes. No apology offered by them. At 2:35--50 minutes after I arrived--I remained without food and walked out. Maybe the owner(s) will learn and correct this problem. I won't be back til I hear from others that the service issues are resolved. I now see that bad service at this location is a common complaint in the...
Read moreSo I wish I could actually give 3.5 stars because that’d be a more accurate reflection of my experience. I’ve eaten here twice, the first time being a 4 star experience and the second a little less impressive. Both times I ordered the Thai red curry and both times it was a winner. It’s a sweeter take on red curry which I found surprisingly delightful, but still the right amount of kick. Now... where the disappointment lies was in the miso soup. Firstly, I ordered it before my entree as an appetizer and it ended up arriving with my main plate which was annoying. Secondly, it tasted like boiled bath water (no exaggeration). I mean absolutely no flavor whatsoever, I ended up having to send it back. My table mate sent her dish back as well. In their defense, according to the manager they had just taken on a new chef. He was very polite about the entire ordeal and overall the service was still great. This is such a cute little place to eat at so please don’t let me dissuade you, just don’t get...
