Very bad experience when I ordered a sub to go on October 28, 2017. I had not been in Sack O Subs in over 5 years. I was very disappointed. I ordered "to go" a half tuna sub, dry (no mayo) with oil and vinegar, lettuce and tomato. The sub was mostly bread, shamefully small amount of tuna, hardly any oil, and I could not detect any vinegar. The lettuce was OK, but then, it is iceberg lettuce. No cheese. I was charged $9.53 for a sub that is advertised online for $7.25!. Since I was traveling and in a hurry to get on the road, I did not question the sub or the charge for the sub. I did not get a receipt either. I related this to a friend, and she said that I should have gone to Wawa for a good tuna sub, or for any sub for that matter. Another problem, in my opinion, is that there was a big container on the counter by the register where you place an order to go. It had a big sign that read, "TIPS." Why would a customer tip an employee who makes at least minimum wage? Tips as income is structured by the IRS for servers who are paid less than minimum wage. The cost of the employees making the sub is already built into the price of the sub. Based on my experience, in my opinion, I would question how carefully the employees who are taking the orders and making the subs monitor the TIPS container. If you don't tip, do you get an inferior order, and if you do tip, you get a decent order? Wawa would never allow any TIPS container for their employees because of ethics and the problem of unreported income. Sack O Subs use to be good, but, in my opinion, the whole...
Read moreI was in and out in 10 minutes with the sandwiches. It is September so season is slowing. The Italian hoagie was a solid 8 out of 10. I like mine with extra onions sliced so thin and delicious they can be eaten alone, seriously 😋 With hots on the side I was ready to roll. Got back to the condo and immediately the girls were curious. Smells good, what did you say you ordered the Italian hmmm. Im cutting a chunk off and another then decide to eat the half. Its exactly as I had hoped when unwrapped. Generous portions for sure, not a easy sub to consume without practice. Top bites with hots were delicious, twisted perfect onions mince through the hot barrage, bottom bites with cheese meats and greens were able to ballance the flavor sea saw to a point of great satisfaction. I knew for the rest of our trip we would not be trying another sub shope. Sorry OC, this is a hit or miss kind of place. When you find a hit (solid 8 out of 10), why risk the comparison or disappointment. My wife had a very emphatic plea, Go get one for me. I had to get my other half back so a full sub it was! This time I added extra cheese. Yaba daba do! My daughter got the roast beef and cheese sub. Im going back tomorrow for the chicken parm sub. The girls up front were great and gave me grace to take in the menu on the wall. Not rushed and smiles too. They were moderately busy when I went back for lunch and still got out of there in 10 minutes. Thats what my parking meter told me. Bring a quarter for the...
Read moreIf you’re ever stuck in Ocean City, New Jersey, and you need to eat something fast–Sack O’ Subs is the place to go. When I first arrived at my beach house in Atlantic City two years ago, I wondered what my family and I were going to eat if we didn’t know what to have in the meantime, and that’s when they saw the Sack O’ Subs that was right across the road.
We tried their food the second night, and it was nothing like anything we’ve had. It was much better than any other sandwiches we’ve tried before.
There are a lot of positive things I could say about this place–but I’ll reduce it to three for time purposes. First, I’m going to talk about the food’s quality. It was a little greasy, but overall it’s really good and definitely tastier than other sandwich places I’ve tried in the past. It has that sort of flavor that sticks to you, even after days of trying it. It’s a great taste that stays in your memory for a long time.
Another thing that’s great about this is its convenience. It was right across the road from our beach house, which made it easy to get there quickly and easily. There’s no need to hop into a car and drive there, since it’s literally right there in front of you.
One final pro of this place is that it is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There isn’t anything bright or janky, it’s just a simple-looking place, but not too simple that it’s too boring.
Overall, if you’re a big fan of sandwiches and you live in Ocean City, New Jersey, Sack O’ Subs is the...
