We stayed in Room #43 on Saturday, June 14, 2025 and had nary a problem. The room was quaint, a decent size for three adults with a queen bed and a pull-out sofa, which was just fine for a short night's rest. The shower light is a stick-on, portable light which doesn't provide much in terms of brightness, so that may be an issue for some. Gene in the office was a wealth of local knowledge and it was fun to chat with about OC from decades ago, as we both grew up there. It was so nice to reconnect with a local on a visit back to see the town. The pool is outdoors and heated to 83 degrees, we were told. Gene provided us three OC Beach tags which we didn't use but were happy to be offered. Having a space to park just a couple blocks from the boards/beach was something I factored in when paying the rate. There is no breakfast included or restaurant on-site, but our room was a small efficiency a sink, range, dishwasher and refrigerator.

Stayed in this nice motel for a night. It’s about two blocks from the boardwalk which is nice and convenient. The room was nice we had 6 people with us. Two queen beds and a trundle bed they call it I guess with a bed underneath which I don’t recommend it was horrible to sleep on. Has a mini fridge, little spacious stove which was so cool and small. Bathroom was okay. Our toilet ended up not flushing and couldn’t go to a new room because they had none left, but we did end up getting to stay til 2pm for the inconvenience which was nice usually they charge $60 for that. I mean the least they could do considering they had no more rooms available. We had the bottom level which is great and convenient of course. Overall stay was nice. Did have some WiFi troubles at first but it got resolved with in a few hours or so. Overall experience was good nothing to fancy. If I had the opportunity to stay again I would.

Love this place! What a great location, the pool is heated and only a few blocks from the beach. We have come here for the past 5 years, and are never disappointed. The rooms are very well laid out, and they have suites for all family sizes..This Sifting Sands is so welcoming and makes for a great summer vacation!

This place is our “GO TO” every year for our family vacation! I don’t care what anybody says, this place is great! We have rented or stayed in nearly every room there and ofcourse I could point out some “flaws” but you won’t find a better place for the price and convenience to the boardwalk and other convenient stores in the area! My husband and I actually rented a few more night after we already stayed our prepaid week and because we paid cash for the next couple of nights beyond our week stay, they not only moved us around to accommodate our family of 5 the best they could, they also gave us a slight discount for paying cash and tho some of the rooms weren’t as updated, the carpets in some of the rooms may have been old, or no lighting in the shower etc. they still met our needs and not to mention every room was safe like no tripping hazards, or live wires exposed so who can really complain for the price, convenience to the beach, stores, and many other wonderful, cool things about this place and it’s location?! It’s not like it’s a “brand new place” but we know that they do their best. We love this place. It fits our budget perfectly so, we can’t really complain. We love the fact they have a laundry room with a couple of washers and dryers to bang out your laundry quicker and your room key opens the laundry room door so you don’t have to wait or rely on someone to open the door for you. I didn’t know that before but I was thrilled when I found out about the laundry room last year after all these years we have been going there and I never knew so, we love Sifting Sands and we make it work! As long as our kids are safe, happy and have a great time then that’s all that matters to us! If you want something luxurious, or more “up to date” then maybe this just isn’t the place for you. I believe some day, Sifting Sands may upgrade but perhaps it’s kinda hard for them when the price they charge to fit your budget doesn’t allow them to make the upgrades. If you want them to make upgrades, don’t be surprised when the prices go up! People can be so ungrateful and complain about everything while ignoring the fact they didn’t find anywhere else cheaper that’s why they picked Sifting Sands so, I’d ignore the complaints and go see for yourself because when you’re busy having fun with your loved ones, you’re too tired to find fault and complain! Instead, you’ll share the fun you had and remember the laughter and smiles on your kids faces! Don’t let a few things ruin a great time you could have by staying here! The rooms aren’t that bad at all! It’s actually in pretty good shape considering!!! Last but not least, the maids are amazing! Very helpful in getting what we need before they go home for the day and we share apples or other fruits with them that we pick up from the grocery store. Kindness goes a long ways!!! IThank you so much Sifting Sands for everything you do that makes it affordable and allows our families to have a great time at the beach!!! You guys are the best around!!! We look forward to seeing you...

The location is great only two blocks from the boardwalk. It is walking distance to many restaurants. The area is safe. There were a couple nice things about the hotel. The lady at the desk during check-in was very nice and very personable. The pool was heated and clean. The overall place was quiet. The room we got had a two burner stove top a small sink a microwave a toaster a decent size fridge and freezer they also provided some silverware and pots and pans and plates and bowls and random kitchen utensils. The room was clean for the most part other than random stains. The mattress was free of bed bugs, and the sheets were pretty clean. The bathroom was also clean. The downfall of the stay was that the room needs a lot of general maintenance. There was no overhead light, so we used the stove top light and a small bedside table lamp, and it was still pretty dark in the room. The microwave was full of rust on the inside of it, so I was not comfortable using it. The numbers on the air conditioner did not work, so we had no idea what the temperature was on the air conditioner. There was an old Mini built-in fridge under the sink that clearly didn't work anymore, but the door was just propped up against it as if it was still attached, and it wasn't. So it fell off a couple of times. I had a young child there, so imagine how that could be hazardous if she bumped it. The bathroom was on the smaller side with only a stand-up shower and no light inside of the shower. Of course, the water pressure was mediocre . The lights in the bathroom were burnt out. Only one bulb out of four worked, and it was extremely dim. I was also unhappy with the fact that we got placed into a room without a bathtub, considering we have to give the ages of the kids at check-in. I assumed that I was checking in with a toddler they would maybe place us in a room with a tub. Now I did not ask to be changed room so maybe they could have accommodated it but maybe that's something they could look at moving forward with future bookings. It is a great deal for a couple or somebody with older kids like teenagers. Even though it needed maintenance, it can definitely be overlooked...

First I’ll be positive-the people here are friendly, and it is very close walking distance to the boardwalk and other area restaurants. However, this place is incredibly outdated, and that is an understatement. Upon walking into our room, there was a terrible smell and flies everywhere. Blinds were broken, and the door didn’t shut well. The bathroom was filthy, and our toilet clogged. Someone came to fix it, and was even surprised at how dirty the bathroom was- there were stains on the bathroom vanity next to the toilet. (We wore shoes in the shower). There was an alley right behind our room that people used frequently to smoke, etc, and they could see into our bedroom through the broken blinds. The couch had a layer of dirt and sand, and the small bed (not queen as advertised) was on wheels. The floors were covered with hair and dead flies. At one point I tried opening the windows to help with the smell, and they were covered in dust and film. The sheets were also stained, as were the towels- clean, but not deep cleaned or even bleached. I saw cleaning staff, but no one came to clean during our stay- only offered to clean (while we were in the room) once they learned about the toilet clogging. There was a “sort of” offer to switch rooms after the toilet incident, but the woman said that would be a “real pain in the a$$” to do that.” Aside from how unsanitary the room was, we needed to leave a day early for an unseen family emergency. No partial refund or any kind of compensation for the toilet (and dirty room) was even offered or acknowledged. I would have at least taken an apology! The only thing offered was sending a staff to clean the room-too little too late. The woman at the desk simply stated, “all I can say is drive safely.” Do NOT waste your money just for the sake of location. Outrageously expensive for the awful stay- you are paying for location only. It seems as if the owners are aware that people still pay to come here, and are barely keeping it functioning. Such a HUGE...
