Dave's Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Ocean Township

This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I had been looking forward to it since I learned of it's arrival. The menu board is very simple and to the point - chicken, fries, drinks. They only have 4 combos that do not include a drink. I got the #4 (1 slider with fries) and the size of the sandwich was plenty. They have a 2-slider combo as well, but given the size of the sandwich, the 1-slider option was plenty.

The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. The team member greeted me nicely and took my order and gave me a pager that would alert me when the food was ready. All this was done, except for the prompting of the tip. I am aware that the restaurant industry is really trying to make counter service and takeout a gratuity standard, but it's not happening with me. This, like many other establishments I have visited this year, was an immediate turnoff and weighs in heavily if I am going to return in the future.

As previously mentioned, the slider was decent size. Actually, it was more of a sandwich than a slider due to the size. It included pickles and their special sauce with extra on the side. The chicken was moderately spicy, which was what I asked for (you choose your heat level when you order). The heat seemed to be from a dry rub, rather than a traditional hot sauce or spiced breaded coating. This is not my particular style, but it didn't make it bad or wrong, just not my first choice. The fries were medium-sized crispy ankle cuts with some sprinkled seasoning. I added cheese to the fries which turned out to be your everyday cheese wiz-type topping.

Like most other chicken sandwiches, this was breast meat, which is generally lacking flavor. That's not to say the sandwich was bland, but since they're starting with a boring part of the chicken, more needs to go into it in order to make it great. Perhaps having a thigh meat option would help with flavor and tenderness.

Can't seem to justify more than 3 stars for the style of the chicken preparation and the pressure to give gratuity for...

Went here for the first time today 7/24/24 and it was so good. Prior to going I told myself I wasn't going to believe the hype lol but after eating there today I can honestly say believe the hype lol i got the the # 2 chicken sliders and fries, which I made chesse fries. The chicken was nicely seasoned, crisp, and juicy. I picked the lightly mild, and it wasn't hot at all. I'll try the mild next time. The French fries were awesome too, nicely seasoned and crisy on the outside and soft in the inside. I'm definitely going to try the milkshake next time. The pickles were good, salt level was perfect and the male slaw on the sandwhich was good. The decor was creative, with the spray paint walls. Lastly, I want to give Arit and Jasmine (I think that was her name) a big shout out!! It was my first time eating there, so I had a lot of questions about spice levels, and she was patient and answered all her questions. She even had me download the app, which was great because I can earn points for free food. Last last thing the place was really clean!! I notice some customers left some trash behind and kt was quickly cleaned up.

dave’s hot chicken is without a doubt in my opinion the best chicken place ive ever been to. it tops popeyes, tops kfc, tops chick-fil-a. i’ve always got the food delivered, but i went here for the first time, i think about a couple weeks ago and it was actually a nice place. it was not too bad of a wait and the food was absolutely delicious like always. delivered or in person. if you’re bored or tired of the same chicken sandwiches, i would try this place. their chicken sandwich is absolutely delicious. the seasoning is amazing and you can choose your heat temperature. i would usually do light mild or mild because i don’t really prefer spicy, but that’s up to you. the french fries are always tasty and crispy and the chicken tenders amazing. the seasoning is just superb. i would never give any fast food restaurant at 10 out of 10, but this place. the food is always amazing every time when i get it delivered. always absolutely amazing every time, have no bad experience. and an honorable mention for the mac & cheese, the best mac & cheese ive ever had from a fast...
