REVIEW 2022: Big Daddy’s no longer has their Blueberry Pie SUNDAE 😨. I saw an article that the place changed hands but the new owners said they’d run the same operation (which, ironically, is what my favorite ice cream place back home said- and it is not). I was actually at one of their new locations on Shore Road in Ogunquit. The staff there had no idea what I was talking about. The place was slow, so it’s not like they couldn’t have offered an alternative.
Seems like they’ve swapped out the sundae for blueberry pie Ala mode. Sorry, it’s just not the same. They also have Maine Blueberry Pie ice cream, but that’s not a sundae.
Sad to say, but I’ll be looking for a new place that offers
The ice cream is good. Last year I gave them 5 stars - largely because of the ice cream. But take that away, throw in staff that doesn’t know or care, and you’re just fixe stars.
That said, it hurts to write this five star review 🫥
REVIEW 2021: Blueberry Pie Ice Cream!!! We stayed for a week very near Big Daddy’s and I discovered Blueberry Pie Ice Cream and I am blown away at how fantastic it was. Since coming home we’ve been to some of our ‘best’ ice cream stand, but it’s now a downer for me.
I do wish they took cards, especially given Covid. The line can be long, but that pushes it that’s a sign of how popular it is. The staff was friendly and hard working.
If not for BPIC I would give 4 stars, but because of that treat I really have to raise it to a 5!...
Read morePhenomenal ice cream shot, I tried 7 flavors and they were all great. I can’t wait to take my daughter and the rest of my family later today. Everyone loves a good controversy, I read the reviews with people saying the flavor was nonexistent so I had to try it for myself. In fact they made me want to go immediately and so I did. I highly recommend.
I thought it was quite tasty, texture was perfect, atmosphere phenomenal, and great value. Taste is subjective, I do my own cooking with recipes from Kenji Alt Lopez and prefer serious eat recipes. I’d like our Thanksgiving and football tailgates to only allow serious eat recipes as some of my guest recipes are meh that are brought over. I say this, not to publicly shame these wonderful people but because I am someone who cares deeply about bold flavors and good cooking. I might want a key lime pie ice cream that knocks my socks off and if I made it, it would… also, nobody would buy it. Big Daddy makes excellent ice cream that on the scale from shrivels the tongue to something grandparents will eat is somewhere in the middle, leaning towards appealing to everyone and that’s okay. It’s very good and they have many flavors. Very nice staff too.
Went back and had the peppermint stick and peanut butter cup. I thought peppermint stick would be more flavorful than mint chip, it was, and it was delicious. This...
Read moreStopped here on a whim for some ice cream and was blown away by the service. The kids working there took my girlfriend and I’s ice cream order and filled it the moment after we paid. They worked so fast I didn’t even believe it was ours at first. Same thing happened to everyone else in line.
My only suggestion is on hot dogs. They were booked in a back corner next to a microwave which took about 5 minutes. I would suggest getting a large hot dog maker that goes directly under the menu. This allows customers to see the hot dogs being made and put it forefront in their minds. Plus, with the fast ice cream service this would speed up the hot dog experience.
Overall, I thought the ice cream was great and the service was a great cherry on top. You may even put a tip jar in front of the serving stand so people will tip when they see the kids work instead of directly...
