I recently had dinner at Hummus Mediterranean Cafe and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we walked in, we felt warmly welcomed by the staff and the cozy, inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has a comfortable, family-friendly vibe with warm lighting and tasteful Mediterranean decor. You can immediately smell the aroma of spices and freshly cooked food in the air, which made us even more excited for our meal.
The service here is truly top-notch. Our server, Alex, was absolutely amazing – he greeted us with a genuine smile, made us feel like valued guests, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Throughout the evening, Alex was attentive without hovering; our drinks were never empty and he checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. His warm, personable service really stood out and made our night special.
Alex also made some great recommendations to elevate our meal. Knowing it was our first visit, he took time to ask about our taste preferences and guide us through the menu. The menu had so many tempting options, and we were grateful for his guidance in choosing the perfect dishes for us. One of his suggestions was to start with the restaurant’s signature hummus and fresh pita bread, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The hummus was velvety-smooth and packed with flavor, perfectly balancing garlic, lemon, and tahini. It came with warm, fluffy pita bread that tasted freshly baked — perfect for scooping it all up.
For our main course, we went with Alex’s top recommendation: the gyro platter. The platter was absolutely incredible and generously portioned, and the star was the gyro meat – tender strips of beef and lamb seasoned to perfection. Each bite was juicy and flavorful, with aromatic spices and a slight crisp on the edges for wonderful texture. The platter came with soft, warm gyro bread for wrapping the meat, and a side of tangy yogurt sauce (tzatziki) that was creamy and refreshing with cucumber and herbs – a perfect complement to the rich, savory meat.
It even included their house-signature fries, which were golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and lightly seasoned with herbs. The combination of the spiced meat, cool sauce, and crispy fries made for an unforgettable meal. It was hands-down one of the best gyro platters I’ve ever had.
By the end of our visit, we were beyond impressed. From the warm atmosphere to the incredible food and outstanding service, everything exceeded our expectations. Alex’s exceptional hospitality truly turned a great meal into an unforgettable experience. We left with full stomachs and big smiles.
I wholeheartedly recommend Hummus Mediterranean Cafe to anyone looking for delicious Mediterranean food in a welcoming setting. Do yourself a favor and try the gyro platter – you won’t regret it. And if you can, ask for Alex; his friendly, attentive service will elevate your dining experience. We can’t wait to come back for another...
Read moreVisit: First time (9:00 p.m., they close at 10 p.m.) Company: 11 people. Location: Easy to find, just off the highway with many parking spots. Interior: Very spacious and well thought out space with booths and the regular chairs and tables. The restaurant is very clean and very well lit. The Mediterranean color scheme is not too striking and easy on the eyes. Excellent first impression. Service: Very welcoming, pleasant, and professional I was greeted quickly and immediately taken to my group. Our host took our drink orders quickly and looked like she has been doing this for quite sometime. Very efficient and all drink orders were correct. Our drinks came in less than 10 minutes. Drinks: I had the mint lemonade. It brought me back to the city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia where I was first introduced to this refreshing drink during my trip for Hajj. Everyone at the table had a sip and liked it. Food: I ordered the gyro plate with house fries. The portion was very generous and I was so sure I was going to have to grab a to-go box afterwards. The gyro was moist, not oily, and not too salty. The slices were not too thick or too thin. They were just perfect. The pita was served in bite-sized triangular pieces. You can either sandwich your gyro with them or you can eat them individually. The fries were fresh, crispy, and golden. The platter came with a small bowl of fries dipping sauce and yogurt. They were perfectly portioned. I tasted my friend's order of the House Burger. If I could, I would have ordered both: Eat-in the gyro and take the burger to-go! The meat on the burger was juicy, adequately seasoned, and the bun was not soggy. Alas, I had quite a bit of gyros left-over and everyone chipped in to enjoy it. The kunafa was fresh, not overly sweet, and filled with melted cheese. Such a delight and a must to complement anyone's dinner.
It was indeed a well-spent (literally) dinner and to top the cake, Nouran gave our 3 little ones (10-year olds) chocolate cake on the house. What a great hospitality!
Kudos Hummus! A truly must-come-back...
Read moreBackground: I've gotten to dabble in Mediterranean cuisine/s only rarely in my life. I know I like what I've tried, but never gotten 'the full experience'.
Wow! This was THE BEST first experience! Wanted to try a bit of everything, so my wife and I shared the "Appetizer Sampler", an order of falafel, the "Zatar Pie" and the "Gyro Platter".
Turns out: neither of us are baba-ghannouj people - even though it was still good. Also turns out: muhamarra is amazing. Never had it before, didn't know I needed it in my life! The hummus is also great - we shared plain and garlic. If you love fresh garlic - there's a generous dollop of fresh minced garlic in the center of the hummus - the best! It was obvious that these were all fresh-made on-site.
Zatar Pie was very flavorful. The gyro meat was tender and flavorful. But even better, the tzatziki was also fresh, and I suspect made in-house - so much better than the commercial stuff. Again, if you love garlic, ask for the garlic sauce. The closest thing I've had to it is the garlic aioli at "Fat Guys" in Tulsa - perfect for dipping fries and anything that needs extra garlic.
Overall, we loved the experience. My wife is not an adventurous eater, but loved the food and wants to return. I am adventurous and absolutely cannot wait to return for more muhamarra and to try the next bevy of roasted meat/s. So pleased we gave Hummus...
