DO NOT ORDER FROM POBLANO. It took them over 3 hours to prepare our food (told us 45 minutes when we called it in), and they left me standing in the to go area waiting for our order for 2+ hours without ANY explanation or apology.
My family and I have gone to Poblano Grill since it was over in Northpark Mall. We have visited every location that they ever opened at one time or another (most are now closed), and I am sad to say we have removed Poblano from our list of dining choices forever after our experience Sunday May 9th 2021 (mothers day).
We called our order in at 3PM. We were quoted "45 minutes to one hour" for them to prepare the food. We arrived at 4:05 PM, and texted their to-go number to inform them which spot we were parked in. The response was "We'll have your order out shortly."
I waited 10 minutes before going inside to check on my order. The restaurant was EMPTY, there were ZERO people in the main lobby, but the take-out area was packed with 6 people. I gave them my name and after some looking was told our order was "not QUITE ready." Indicating it was almost done. So I waited.
.......and I waited, and I waited, and I waited some more.
After AN HOUR AND A HALF of standing there waiting for my order I approached the counter again and politely asked for an ETA. I was met with a rude response from a young woman who told me "they won't tell me how long it will be." She went on to explain "we quoted you a time when you called but since then we have gotten very busy." I explained to her that how busy they became AFTER we called in our order should have no impact on when our food was prepared because surely they prepared the orders in the order in which they were received..... She replied, rudely "I don't know what to tell you." After waiting for over 90 minutes in the take out area (fully 2.5 hours since we called the order in) I finally had to ask for the manager. After all, I needed to let my family know when they could expect dinner, and let my wife, who was waiting in the car with our young child, how much longer it would be.
Par for the course with this place, the manager never showed up to talk to me.
Finally, after 2 FULL HOURS of standing and waiting our food was brought out. This was over 3 hours since we called in the order initially.
They messed up 3/4 of the order, but there was no room to stand and check it in the take out area. So not only did we wait 2+ hours longer than their estimate but they messed up most of the order anyway.
The staff NEVER informed me, (or any other waiting customers) that they were running behind. They NEVER offered an ETA or an explanation, and literally NOT ONE TIME did any of them even offer an apology for the ABSURD wait. At the very least they could have offered a discount, or a drink, or any gesture at all, but instead they chose to do nothing.
To top it off, while I was standing there waiting I watched SEVERAL families arrive, be seated (there was no wait until about 5:15), order, eat, pay and leave. All while a large number of people were standing waiting for their take out orders. I even found out one gentlemen had called his order in the day before just to be sure they got it on time.... Spoiler alert... he had to wait like the rest of us suckers.
Do yourself a favor, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. There is a reason most of their locations are closed (and it's not the food). They are poorly managed, poorly operated, and clearly have no concept of customer service. Pay a few extra bucks, and go to Ted's, they would never have had these kinds of issues or allowed customers to be treated so poorly buy...
Read moreMy wife and I attended a couples retreat last conference last year in November of 2022. Poblano restaurant was very kind and greatly helped improve the retreat. By gifting several $10 gift certificates to the organizers of the event. Which is Calvary Baptist Church in Edmond Oklahoma. My wife and I have eaten at Poblano Grill near May and the Kilpatrick several times, and we have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We definitely enjoyed our previous visits. My wife and I have not eaten there or very many other places together due to her worsening condition. She had Myotonic Dystrophy. A rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.
Mexican food we both have enjoyed it for 29 years together and both of us enjoyed it before then.
Poblano Grill has always been a great place to eat. Great atmosphere, and has always had excellent service and friendly staff. For this, I am great full. My wife passed away back in June 2023, we had not used the certificates yet. So our 2 living children were interested in eating three. In loving memory of my late wife I chose to eat here and introduce our children to this restaurant.
We entered and we were promptly greeted. We were there on Saturday afternoon around 1 p.m. the grill was not as busy as it had been in the past years. We were happy not to have to wait long. Most of the tables are booths were filled with people, young and older, enjoying their meals. I was excited to see this, it's typically a good sign of good food.
My son ordered the Burrito plate. It was larger than he thought. Which was a great thing. Now, my daughter she is not a huge fan of Mexican food. So I wasn't surprised to hear her say she was not eating. I ordered the Special Chile Relleno stuffed with chicken. I love Chile Relleno. But unfortunately this one wasn't all that great. I have always enjoyed the food here. The burrito was definitely a great choice for my son, and he shared some with his sister. She liked it as well. As for my dish, I didn't care for the sweat corn creamy sauce on it, and the pepper was kind of tuff. I really hate to write a poor review, but this wasn't my best experience here.
I will visit again, to be fair. Every restaurant has its ups and downs. I hope to be able to visit again sometime. Thank you for the great service and food we have enjoyed...
