Little pops of brightness are constantly overshadowed by disappointment and confusion.
Apparently it is hit or miss wether or not you'll be greeted upon entering. The atmosphere is inviting and evokes good energy, but you may be left wondering "do I just seat myself or does anyone care that a new customer just walked in?".
The food. Lunch comes with soup, egg roll, entree, and either a dumpling or rangoon. The hot and sour soup was decent enough, nothing to really talk about. The rangoon would probably leave most fans somewhat disappointed. The wrapper was thin and crispy, which I enjoyed, but there wasn't much filling and the experience was over as quick as it began. The egg roll... If I could have one wish... Please take this item off of your menu. It was the single worse egg roll I have ever eaten and I've eaten an egg roll off of a roller grill in South Texas while waiting two hours for a tow truck (desperate times). My entree, the Peking shrimp, was actually delicious! I didn't like the fact that it was served atop a bed of shredded lettuce, which instantly wilted upon contact with the hot, crispy, garlicky and saucy shrimp. The fried rice complemented it well, it was a great dish with confusing presentation. I also ordered an appetizer of orange chicken tacos. The individual components were simply bad, therefore they didn't stand a chance to come together and succeed in taco form. The chicken was gamy, maybe it was frozen or premade, it also had an unpleasant texture and chew to it.
Highlight. The ginger creme brulee was tasty and the flavor continued to improve with each bite. At first the ginger flavor is quite strong, but after about three bites you're mostly tasting a sweet and smooth custard with notes of freshly caramelized sugar. My waitress provided good conversation and was...
Read moreGreat food, cute location, friendly service. We ended up here kind of by accident. I had tacos because I love tacos and these were both excellent and extremely clever flavor profiles. The tacos are served kinda street-taco style in soft corn tortillas and the Mexican-Asian fusion goes well together. The pork tacos were the spiciest of the three I had, so if spice isn't your thing, possibly pass--that said, a great balance of flavor and kick, so if you like just a bit of kick as I do, but can't deal with too much, these are great. The shrimp tacos have a slight sweetness and are oh so good...might be my fave. And the chicken are surprisingly creative considering it's a chicken taco. The pickled cabbage, or whatever kind of slaw it was on there, was absolutely fantastic compliment. I also had a steamed pork bun which was delicious though not unlike porkbuns elsewhere. All was fantastic and reasonably priced. The meat and toppings on the tacos were generous but not to the point of spilling all over. Very easy to eat. We took ours to go, and they came in a sack with handles, with the food in paper boxes (each taco sat in its own little cardboard "boat" within the box) that gave a tidy little presentation. Judging by the eco-friendly straws for our drinks, I think the brown bag/brown box combo (instead of paper and styrofoam) was a conscious choice that I appreciate. Definitely got to hit this place up again next time we're in that...
Read moreGreat tasting food with a nice selection of Asian and Mexican. The quantity is ample, so plan on a meal again with the extra you cannot eat. The pics are of crispy orange peel chicken. Others ordered crispy salmon. All of us loved it. I tasted the salmon, great flavor, although I’m generally not a fan of salmon. The crispy was great, but possibly over day for my taste. We definite will return and try more of their selection.
I’d like to update a review that I was positive about a couple of months ago. We returned expecting Chigama, but the menu appears to have changed to Dot Wo. We all generally enjoy Asian food but not here. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp. The presentation was nice with an abundant serving on the plate. The shrimp was butterflied, over breaded, over fried, dry, and several pieces quite brown brown. The sweet and sour sauce tasted like it was directly out of a bottle. Our friend with sweet an sour chicken was equally unimpressed, as was the friend who ordered beef broccoli. The fried rice was unimpressive. The only person happy with her order was my wife, who had a seafood hot pot, which she said was very good, with shrimp, squid, scallops, mushrooms, and tofu. The service was fast, and the...
