Royal Crab — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

I went for my birthday and invited my family it was 8 of us. I called ahead and still had to wait to be seated not a big deal but the place was pretty much empty. The decor was breath taking and I couldnt put my finger on the design direction but I'd say cruise ship meets brothelwith asprinkle of casino. The drinks tasted like cough syrup and were nasty even the pre-made margarita struggled to be good. Our waiter was unbothered and unattentive. He refilled 2 glasses the whole time we were there. The appetizers were cold (cheese sticks and hushpuppies) we had to ask if the crab Rangoon had crab in it he said it had "little flecks" of crab in it which I found a "fleck" in only one so pass on that. I split a party tray which was cold crab in a hot juice which made it taste colder for some reason. Everyone else's food varied in temp but mine was cold. He overheard me talking about it and made it a point to avoid us until we were ready for the check. He did not ask how the food was he brought us Togo boxes and split the check-up and brought me a birthday cheesecake that was boxed up but was obviously dropped at some point. I drive by this place every day on the way to work and had high hopes even though I've never seen them busy. I gave them a chance but will never be back. I was telling my co-workers about my experience and was told they may do some shady stuff there but rumors are rumors. I will say if I knew I was getting 18% gratuity automatically on a 8 top I wouldn't care how the service was but he did try to get us to double tip him. That was shady. so I called at about 8:50 PM and I asked if I would be able to eat if I got there at 9:15 PM and they said yes however they did not let me know that Eating inside closes at 9 PM and after 9 PM they do only to go orders. No big deal there the girls that helped me at the front were very nice and explained everything to me. I got a make your own boil thing and I ordered lobster tail no head shrimp. I got three corn and some potatoes and I ordered a king crab leg and I also ordered hush puppies. It was about $150 and it was maybe a little bit overpriced, but it wasn’t too bad. The crab leg was amazing. I will say if you take it home you definitely need scissors cause it was hard to get into if I didn’t have my scissors. The corn was probably the best part. I wish I had more the lobster tail. Definitely let me down. It was not very good. I don’t know if it was dead or if it was just not cooked right or over boiled, but it was awful. The hash puppies were super good and the shrimp were also very good, but they didn’t have that much flavor. I kind of wished they were seasoned instead of being displayed shrimp with the crab boil seasoning because they were kind of bland. All in all I think I would give it a 3.5 out of five the food was good. The employees were nice and I just didn’t like the price and I hated that my lobster tail was disgusting because it was $20. I came in 05-14-24 around 8 pm and was sat immediately. The hostess was very short with me I was sat soon there after. I was waiting on a friend but it took my server around 20 mins to even get to me and when he did there wasn’t a greet or anything he just asked if I was waiting on someone still. I ordered my drink and some fries (they weren’t salted) after waiting for that long. My friend showed up and the server was very passive aggressive and short with us. It was around closing time and we got our food order in relatively fast but our server still wasn’t really kind throughout my whole experience and this was my first time ever visiting this place. I asked for the check and ordered something extra and I’m noticing him being kind to other customers, me and my friend still tipped above 20% even though the service wasn’t great. The food was good but the service was poor. We felt really uncomfortable and unwanted. I normally don’t even write reviews but I had to this time because I’m a server myself.
