Customer service is terrible here! We went in with a large group. We had 8 people at one table and 7 at another table. We asked if they could write our orders on 4 different checks. We understand that it can get confusing to do that, so we even sat in groups together (ex: 4 on one end of the table, one check, and 4 on the other side of the table, the second check). They said that it was too much work for them and they can't do that. So we said we can sit at completely separate tables, and we were even okay with them still charging the 18% tip with each of our checks. They said that it doesn't matter, at this point they were still going to put everything on one check. So we decided to leave. As we were leaving I stated to the server that them refusing to take our orders on 4 different checks seemed to be a strange policy, with all the dinners costing at least $25 each, they were losing about $500 worth of business. He stated that we could just Vemo each other the money back. I said that most people in our group don't even have a Vemo account and that would put a huge hassle on your customers, and he stated that it's better that customers have a huge hassle than he be inconvenienced. With all the reviews of bad food, and the customer service they gave us, I am glad we left and had an excellent seafood dinner at half the price at another...
Read moreEating here was the worst part if our day. Pay no mind to the reviews that mark up for scenic views, this place is good for nothing other than a nice picture of the water. We ate here with a party of 5 and we were told they wouldn't make two checks for us to pay our tabs but that we could put the charges on separate cards. Fine. We get the check at the end and they added a $50+ mandatory gratuity. It's a seat yourself establishment. The waitress was at our table a whole two times, one for our drinks and one 30+ minutes later with the check - we never even saw her in between that. One of us asked for water at the beginning and she never brought it, the rest of us had only the one round of drinks and someone else brought our meals to us. To say it was some of the most disappointing food we've ever had is not an exaggeration. The portions are silly, the food is not fresh or hot, or good...the breading they use is just terrible, it tastes like you're eating literal bread with a tiny bit of clam inside. You can choose to eat here and pay the equivalent of a mansions electricity bill for the month while you choke down the food, and what you get in return is to see more of the ocean than you already saw plenty of down on the beach. Save yourself the...
Read moreThis is literally the first time i have ever taken the a moment to write a review about a restaurant. I had high hopes for The Pier given its prime location and potential for a great seaside dining experience, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. From the moment we arrived, there was a distinct lack of warmth or hospitality. The bartender seemed visibly unhappy to be there. no greeting, no smile, just an energy that made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than welcome guests. The bartender took our drink order then proceeded to assume that all the drinks our group ordered were meant to be under one bill. Which forced one member of our group to inconviently pay the entire bill.
While I understand that everyone has off days, the vibe was hard to ignore and really affected the overall experience. It's disappointing when the setting and potential are overshadowed by staff who seem disengaged or unhappy.
I can’t speak much to the food or drinks because the service set the tone early and left a sour taste that stuck with us throughout. With so many great places in Maine to choose from, it’s hard to justify a return visit when there’s zero effort to make guests feel even...
