Akashic Food Trailer — Restaurant in Olympia

I wish I could leave a positive review but I really, really can't. We wanted to use this food truck as our wedding vendor (due to the amazing pictures and reviews) but when we came down to try it, it was extremely disappointing in all respects. For starters, the lady was very cold and unfriendly. The guy seemed nice enough but unfortunately the woman's attitude really soured our experience. They had expressed enthusiasm about catering our event before, but in person it seemed like we were asking her a personal favor that she was extremely unexcited about. Like, okay??? Why did you tell me you cater if you didn't want to?? We still wanted to try the food, of course, so we ordered a handful of (expensive) dishes. The food was bland and extremely underwhelming in all respects. We eat a LOT of Indian and Mediterranean food at many different restaurants and this is some of the worst we've had. Every dish was underseasoned with poorly paired textures. I dislike leaving bad reviews for new / small businesses but I feel like it's worth it if it even saves one person from spending their hard...

I've been to the truck three times. Three times I've ordered one gunpowder fry. Three times I've waited 30-45 minutes. Three times I've been told my order was "forgotten", though during the last two visits that were quiet and relatively slow. I asked for a refund this final time from the lady since I hadn't received my food and I had to go. My companion who ordered after me got his burger and fries before my single order of fries. She argued over that I had already gotten my food... while I still had their plastic flashing trinket thing. I was even holding it up to her to see. While I pressed for a refund because I had to go, she argued and the guy in the back passed over fries hastily slung into a Togo box. If the lady just didn't rudely argue, I wouldnt have minded or cared really. I get it! You are working and you are tired and especially after downtown has events but damn that is no way to...

I lived in Olympia for about a year and this food truck is some of the best food I ate while here. And I know because I dealt with some unpleasant living situations so I ate out A LOT to avoid going home. The flavors at Akashic are complex and wonderful. It doesn’t taste heavy or cheap or processed. I think they must use fresh stuff because I feel alive after eating their food not gross and zombie-d out. We’ve tried their burgers, the wraps, the amazing little sliders, damn those are good, the salads, the rice bowls. ALL OF IT IS WORTH IT. Generous portions, especially considering what you’ll find elsewhere around here. The people who cook and run this place are so kind and genuine. It feels so nice to interact with them. A million stars out of a million stars. I’m moving away from Olympia and this is one of the only places...
