Walked in on a Sunday evening about 5p. 2 other table seated, 2 other tables left dirty from prior customers. Walked to the counter. A teen employee walks from the back, past the counter and says, I'll be with you in a moment. Comes back out after a couple minutes. He asks if we are for a here for a pick up. We say, we'd like to eat in. And then he directs us to a table and provided menus, then asked if we are eating here. I was confused, he seemed confused..i had to ask, if it was ok, to eat here. I thought maybe they were closing, shortly. While waiting to order 2 other 2 tops came in to eat, they sat them all right next to us. The restaurant had many open tables. Seemed odd to seat us all so close. We ordered a large Pho with tendon and brisket, a shrimp vermicelli bowl, and 2 pork and shrimp fresh rolls. When they brought out the sprouts and jalapeños for the pho, the waiter teen, said they were out fresh basil, and apologized. When the fresh rolls arrived it was just the protein, rice noodles and wrap. Served with the fish sauce. No basil in them. They could have used some green onion, or cilantro in place of the basil. They truly sucked. The peanut sauce couldn't even carry the lack of flavor in the rolls. The pho was the worst I ever had. The tendon was cubed little squares, and had a chewy like taffy feel. Not a buttery tenderness. The vermicelli salad, was mostly noodles, very little lettuce. Just a sprinkle of cilantro, carrots and lettuce. While eating a another table paid, at the counter. They asked how was everything. The guy pauses, and says, um it was okay. He said his pork seemed to be a pretty small serving for him. A couple other tables came in, and another young teen waiter handled those tables. Seems to be a family run business, but the wait staff needs some training. And the food lacked authenticity. So many other local places on the Westside of oly for better Pho. We...
Read moreI don’t order out much. Maybe 5 times a year. Today was one of those days. Wife is feeling under the weather and I got a bonus. Figured it would be a nice treat. Wrong. Guy on the phone who took my order, he was great. The inside of the establishment was clean, modern and welcoming. It smelled great in there too! Unfortunately, I’m not happy. I just spent $83.00 on 3 “large” bowls of Roast chicken Pho and 3 boba tea. The broth taste like it came out of a box. Even tho I arrived before they finished the order, my broth was luke warm and the thing that is most irritating is the garnish. Asked for extra lime (which maybe they did, there were 5 little slices) but they gave us enough garnish for 1 bowl. The Thai basil was literally 3 little twigs of wilted basil leaves. Maybe 5 leaves on one twig, and the others had leaves the size of a 1 dot Lego and they were wilted. No they weren’t busy, (at least they didn’t seem like it). Here’s the thing, I paid almost $100 for 3 bowls of soup. Makes me wonder why I even eat out at all anymore. I’d take it back and all that but I’m home, not driving all the way back and dealing with the headache or who knows what else. I just won’t be back and I’ll leave a review that hopefully saves you from making the same mistake I did. Maybe it’s my fault for not double checking. But I shouldn’t have to. My order was simple, no substitutions except for extra lime. Don’t know where good pho is around here but it’s probably in a back alley somewhere. If you’re going to charge those prices for soup, then be the best you can. Decent customer interaction,...
Read moreCute little place with a sweet waitress. The fresh salad rolls with prawn and pork were very good. Big and two nice sized prawns and yummy pork stuffed inside. The peanut sauce was a bit runny but tasty. The Pho Ga was good, as well. The broth was very flavorful. Next time I think I’ll try the Roasted Chicken Pho Ga to see what the taste difference is. The chicken in the regular one was a bit chewy, but very tender so I wonder if having it roasted makes the texture different. Overall it was a very good experience.
The dining room is open, wide and clean. There was an incredibly loud group when I arrived and they were so loud it hurt my ears. One woman’s laugh was utterly annoying. You know that kind of loud, obnoxious laugh that pierces your ears? Oof. It was bad. Not sure if it was the acoustics of the room or just a loud obnoxious group, but I’m glad they left when they did. I won’t let that stop me from going again. Just be aware. Enjoy yourself, but show some social decorum. Addition Just had the Caramel Pork Bahn Mi and it was scrumptious!! Don’t hesitate to stop in and try this...
