😩😩😩 this was such an awesome experience. My mom and I set out for breakfast, but everywhere was packed so we ended up here since we’d already wanted to check it out. Let me tell you, I did NOT miss breakfast. Everythings pretty much out for you to see sorta Chipotle/Qdoba style, but everything tastes fresh. Behind the counter you can see them cooking certain things. They were all incredibly kind and one of the best service experiences I’ve had period. Nina’s behind the counter and she is so kind and gracious. My mom and I devoured each others food and even got more to go! There’s such an authentic homey feel to the food. I wish I had pictures! We had the mango lemonade I believe and it was so refreshing and not puckery sweet which is a big plus for me. The spinach sauce is absolutely to die for literally on anything. It compliments everything so well. They have a couple house hot sauces as well. The red is NOT for the faint of heart, BUT it’s not just spicy it has an excellent flavor. With all of these I had the kabobs and dumplings (traditionally called fufu I believe). Those bad boys were so thick! 😩😩 The meat was super tender, moist and seasoned to perfection. I can’t recall the bowl my mom put together, but it was amazing and everything goes together so well. I do recall plantains and an incredibly refreshing tabouleh salad 🤤🤤 The fact that my mom gushed the way she did about this place says a lot. She’s a cook herself and has a master palate! The restaurant was also super clean and very well decorated. There aren’t many places we’re going to due to the pandemic, but this spot has definitely become a staple. Don’t sleep on them!!

Read moreAfter much deliberation in front of the menu on the wall, we decided on Jelof Rice w/red rice and Peanut Butter Chicken w/white rice specials.
We also got Degue Couscous Semoule and a Ginger Lemonade. I heard about their Ginger Lemonade sometime back and that was what caught my attention then. It was everything I imagined it would be. Not too sweet and the strong taste of ginger that makes you feel like it'll cure all your ailments.
I didn't know what to expect with the Degue, so I was pleasantly surprised. The only way I can describe it is like Lassi with couscous and delicious flavors.
The food was absolutely mind blowing. I hadn't had cooked plantains before and they were among my fav thing on the dish. I liked the red rice and the sauce that came with the special. Hubby liked his PB Chicken too but he noted he'd get it with red rice next time.
We maybe ate half of the portion we had before we were full and saved the rest for the next day's lunch and somehow the flavor had gotten richer by then.
The portion sizes, the price, the drinks and dessert, and not to mention the explosion of flavor with every bite. They brought their "A" game for all of it!
We will absolutely be...
Read moreI love the flavor, However over the last couple month, the service provided by the owner was very rude, cold, and inconsistent. The portions compared to other places are extremely small she puts the fufu in the same small black meal prep container as the engusi, I feel if im paying almost 25 dollars for each entree the fufu should be on the side and the engusi soup should fill up the entirety of the meal prep box. IN addition she adds very little of the soup, she will fill it up with the other 2 sides if you add it to the point you cant even taste or barely see the ensusi ( which is the key element of the dish) Then I asked for extra fufu (my daughter likes it with her peanut chicken and they from what I was told only sell it with the engusi soup. However, my other went in there and she asked him how many extra fufu he wanted, with no issues. I was offended due to her telling me I had to buy another engusi soup if I wanted another fufu. I have was a regular but over time with the level of service and portions being reduced we will more than likely not b e visiting the...
