Still in Love with Night Flight Pizza! I used to pick up from the old downtown location all the time many years ago and a couple times when they were in mid-town. I finally got the chance to visit this hidden updated version- Brick Oven Pizza (their sister store but one in the same) off of 72nd, east of Mrs. B's in a weird strip mall alley. I was not disappointed! The smell was still the same of the flour rich & savory sauced pizza of yesteryear. There have been updates. The pizzas are baked & served on a crisper wire sheet on top of a pizza pan. This allows the crust to be less soggy...more chewy and bubbly. The Hallmark is the old Night Flight's pizza sauce which has always been my favorite. It is savory...almost spicy...but not hot. The cheese thick and gooey. There are appetizers & neverending pizza menu choices now, including vegan & gluten free options. The counter staff are happy to answer any questions when you order. They have grated cheese...hot peppers...garlic...oregano etc...kept in a tidy service cabinet. Pop is self-serve. The interior of the store is decorated nicely, has television & has very comfortable seating with a party room for overflow. Worth mentioning is if you call for carry-out...ask for the Night Flight specials. They are virtually the same as the old days- yummy & pocketbook friendly. It is a 5 star joint for all these reasons...but I give it 4 as this is probably the second most expensive pizza in town. Each topping (including xtra cheese) is over $2.50 & that was just for toppings on 1 half of our pizza(the other half was just cheese). So you are paying full price for half the toppings. A specialty pie costs roughly the same as just a few ingredients...so you might consider buying 1 of those instead of customizing...but they are happy to do anything you want. Our bill for a large pizza with 2 half toppings & extra cheese...an appetizer & 2 sodas was a little over $40. So bring the credit card. Getting past the sticker shock...the food & experience was...
Read moreWe recently visited a brick oven pizzeria in Omaha, Nebraska, renowned for its inclusive menu that caters to various dietary preferences, including vegan options. As a vegan, finding a pizzeria that offers more than just a basic salad can be challenging, but this place was a game-changer.
The vegan pizza selection was impressive. Instead of the usual afterthought of a pizza minus the cheese, they offered a variety of creative and delicious plant-based toppings, including artisanal vegan cheeses, a range of fresh vegetables, and unique proteins like seasoned tofu.
We opted for a custom pizza with vegan mozzarella, roasted red peppers, artichokes, olives, and a host of other veggies. The crust, baked to perfection in the brick oven, had a sublime texture—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The vegan cheese melted beautifully, complementing the freshness of the toppings without overpowering them.
Beyond pizza, the menu featured other vegan-friendly appetizers, all prepared with the same attention to quality and flavor. It's clear that this pizzeria is committed to providing a delightful dining experience for all guests, regardless of their dietary preferences.
In conclusion, this brick oven pizzeria in Omaha is a gem for vegans and anyone looking to enjoy a meal that's both delicious and mindful of diverse dietary needs. I left feeling satisfied and impressed by the culinary creativity and the commitment to inclusivity. Highly recommended for vegans and...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 4.5 star rating, I would. First time visit. First contact (9/6 around 630pm) with a sweet lady was awesome. Ordered 2 slices "jumbo pizza" and when it came in a to go box(which I asked for) it was not sliced. So make sure you mention to them if you want them sliced or not. The parking lot is cramped and very small. I saw this place via their truck ad. Clever place to park. Their sauce was outta the world. DELICIOUS. Cheese had good flavor and the pepperoni was tasteful but not too spicy. Dough was so good and chewy yet crunchy on the bottom but not overdone. Perfect. It is bigger than it looks on the inside from the outside. Nice ambient lighting. I ordered 2 slices so I could eat one now and then see how it hold up after reheating. I ate a whole slice in the store and then as I was driving home about 15 minutes away, I found myself reaching over to open the box and nimble on a few bites here and there. By the time I got home only the crust was left so I let my son sample it. Guess I'll have to buy more to test how well it repeats. Good problem to have. I would recommend you order ahead due to limited parking space along the front of the building. Why not 5 star? The price. For what I got, it should be 5ish. But as you bite down into the pizza, I forgot about the price. It was that good. ...
