Never been to this place before. At face value, the premise of good ole old fashion ice cream was a great thought. Came in with my wife celebrating our wedding anniversary. However, I was superbly disappointed on so many levels.
This was our first and only visit here. We came for sundaes. I ordered 2- 2 scoop sundaes with Brooke. Gave her my order but noticed that she had one sundae with one scoop and another, smaller cup with one scoop of ice cream. Not sure what she was doing I asked another employee if he could call her for me.
Brooke came back over to the counter and I asked her if she was making both sundaes with 2 scoops. Here's when the ugliness began. Instead of asking me or trying to clarify with me my order as a normal customer order transaction usually takes place, she goes ballistic and responds, "No that's not what you told me!" and further argues with me instead of trying to fix the problem.
I'm not sure what the deal was but she wanted to leave it as is, added another scoop of ice cream in another small bowl and said that I could fix it.
To escalate things further she tries to kick me out telling me that I was making problems for her.
Obviously, the customer 101 class was missed or this business no longer thinks it's essential.
20 minutes later, the manager Julian takes the order from her and fixes what Brooke messed up and refused to fix. I asked him what the issue was . He said that it was a really busy night and she was just frustrated. Umm, not my problem and it's definitely not for the customer to have their frustration taken out on.
Our visit being on a weekend, my thought was to speak to a manager during the weekday and maybe things would be different.
Spoke to Brett who said he was a manager. I explained the situation and then got no response. Complete dead silence on the phone. I had to say, "Hello?" He responded, "I'm here." So I asked him if he was aware of the situation. He said he was. I asked him if there was anything he had to say. His response was that they weren't there and there was no way for them to know whose fault it was. I asked him if that's how they view customer complaints and told him that he didn't seem concerned about how customers were being treated. He said, "Well, we got a lot of complaints like yours." ??? Again, first, not my problem and second, if there are a lot of complaints like mine then wouldn't that indicate that there is a significant issue warranting change?
No apology. No interest in hearing what I had to say. His response was, "Well, what do you want?" At this point I realized that my call was a waste of time. I told him that I didn't want anything. I don't even live in this town but just wanted to bring it to someone's attention.
This business doesn't seem to care about treating their customers right and they're just downright nasty.
Well never go back to this place when we're...
Read moreWe arrived later on a Friday evening, as first-timers from another state (Iowa), after spending the day in Omaha for doctor appointments. The line was long, but moved quickly. The shop was neat to look at, and had a good vibe to it. There was a bit of a nostalgic feeling, which fits great with being in the Old Market in Omaha.. Most people were passing through the shop and heading back outside once served. I really liked that they had an exit door at the end of the order line, so you don't have to walk past the crowd to get back outside. You can stay fairly separated from others if you'd like to.
My only small downsides were: There weren't a lot of flavors to choose from, and some of them listed, we were unsure of what they actually were flavor-wise. I'm sure part of this is because it was later at night and they had a busy day. I get it, but if you know thats going to happen, plan more product variety. Although a plus as far as not having to wait long, the line moved very quickly. It was a bit intimidating to order, especially having questions about what was being served. I felt rushed, and the workers were actually telling us to please keep moving down as we were trying to order. It didn't help that the actual menu can't be seen until you get to the counter to order. It would be helpful to have it posted large, or make them available individually, somewhere along the line when waiting...especially for those like us who had no idea what we were doing. :) Three separate people were trying to take our order in the short amount of time we were at the counter, it was confusing. They didn't seem to really be communicating with each other, only the guests.
Overall, a long review, but not any huge issues! The ice cream tasted wonderful and we will definitely be back next time we find ourselves roaming...
Read moreI am disheartened experience at Ted and Wally's today. For years, I had enjoyed their icecream. I recently tried their vegan peanut butter and chocolate ice-cream mix with almonds on top. Sad to say, the ice-cream had a very unpleasant taste, almost as if the coconut milk used was spoiled I immediately went to management to try and get a refund, because it was not edible for me and being vegan, there were not other options for me. Management refused and said all they could do was give me one scoop of chocolate. Holly, manager, said the reason they do it is because customers will eat half the icecream and then say they didn't like it. You could clearly see that my icecream was full and barely touched. I ordered two scoops with an almond mix-in, and they were not willing to accommodate me with an order of equal value. When I asked where was their refund policy, she could not show me. She simply said this is how "we" do things. It ended up I was given one scoop of chocolate ice-cream, which did not remedy the situation, because again, it had the bad taste and I later ended up with an upset stomach.
I will say my husband enjoyed his ice-cream, as I have in previous years. And, I still believe that Ted and Wallys have some of the best ice-cream in Omaha, but on this day, their vegan ice-cream and customer...
