Well what can I say besides dismal.. I was seated rather quickly but let's be honest I arrived 15 minutes after opening. She asked if I would like something to drink and then brought me coffee which was quite bitter, something I'm used to because quality coffee is apparently hard to find at most chain restaurants. I asked for extra sweetener in anticipation of the bitterness to which my pleasant surprise was an actual handful leading me to surmise it wasn't the first time. I came in knowing what I wanted so I told her I would like the tremendous 12, she asked how I would like my eggs to which I replied "how's the cook?" She said "he was good" so I ordered them lightly basted, which apparently is one of the most difficult things in the world because it seems most cooks have trouble getting it right.. I also asked if I could get onions IN the hash browns to which she replied absolutely, but either she didn't write it down correctly or the cook didn't care to read the order, but they were on top.. again it's not the end of the world. That leads to the pancakes.. they were not the nice fluffy buttermilk pancakes I remember, these were as if my daughter made them for me on Father's Day when she was a little girl telling Mommy she wanted to do it by herself.. they had very little taste and were completely flat and I ended up using half the bottle of syrup just to be able to eat them .. but the icing on this "cake" was the sourdough bread, I couldn't really make up my mind of what it was I was smelling.. either wet dog or stinky feet .. now I'm not saying it was so bad but it definitely wasn't good by no means... I did eat it all because I abhor waste and if I can choke it down I will .. the waitress did ask if she could have anything remade for me but it's been my experience that if they couldn't do it right the first time I won't give them a second chance to disappoint me.. like I said shortly after bringing me my food the waitress came back and asked how everything was and I explained the issues I noticed to which she said would I like them to remake anything but no I told her it wasn't the end of the world but it's really not the same as I remembered it to be... I didn't ask for any discounts or concessions of any kind and when I got my bill I wasn't disappointed it was as I thought and I was fully charged including the .99 cents for the cold Onion sprinkled on top of my Luke warm hash browns, oh and we won't mention the somewhat soggy Bacon.. the most annoying thing was that there was an incredibly stubborn fly dancing around my table to the music from the kitchen that drowned out the house music and the old lady hacking in the booth right behind me... Needless to say I don't believe I'll be coming back to this Perkins in the foreseeable...
Read moreEverything was terrible. Granted, it's a Perkins, so it's not going to be remotely gourmet or necessarily even good, but this was terrible. They lost our order in the kitchen and said nothing until we enquired when our basic breakfasts would be out. The server didn't listen and got almost everything wrong on my order AND neglected to explain need-to-know information. Finally, when it sort of arrived, the toast was cold, the over easy eggs were fried and solid, the hashed browns had a very odd flavour, the bacon was like rubber, and the sausage was almost like eating paste in an intestinal tube. Also, my breakfast was supposed to come with pancakes. Nope. That took another 10 minutes and at that time, I was disgusted and ate next to nothing. My wife's meal; bacon was rubbery, the eggs tasted strange, weren't very yellow as scrambled eggs should be, and were broken into such small pieces it was very similar in size to ground beef. Her toast was also cold. Our daughter; ordered chocolate chip pancakes. Didn't look like pancakes should, but almost no chocolate chips. Seriously, there were 4 cakes in the stack and the top one, which I mutilated to look for chips after she stopped eating them because they were "gross", only showed around 10 chocolate chips. However, not IN the pancakes, but IN BETWEEN where they didn't belong...in between the second and third pancakes were what looked like an overkill of half-melted chocolate chips (because the pancakes were ALSO COLD) that were poured in between as an afterthought as if they had forgot they were supposed to make CHOCOLATE CHIP pancakes. Honestly, I think they did forget. The bottom cakes didn't seem as if any were added to the batter, but I can't confirm as I only mutilated the top cake.
This place is complete fecal discharge. Avoid it at all costs.
Manager was nice, though. Alleviated our bill, then explained how she can't get anyone but "kids" to work who don't know what they are doing.
Suggestion; stop paying minimum wages and give living wages to servers. People like to feel they are...
Read moreI am from Onalaska and this restaurant is Overdue for a remodel. The floors are terrible, they are sticky and the main walkway carpet is BLACK. They don't even try to cover it with a rug. My shoes stuck to the floor when walking on it. The entry did smell pretty bad but the bathrooms were okay. Our waitress Rachel was GREAT. She was overloaded with customers and working her tail off. Unfortunatley there were two hostess ladies standing at the front a lot doing nothing. One hostess was annoyed when a customer returned a dirty glass of orange juice to her (not HER job). She was busy putting a new menu flyer on each table and ignored the dirty tables all around us. Rachel was the only one taking dishes. She is by far the BEST waitress I have seen in a long time. The other waitress seemed to be doing their jobs fine but I even heard the hostess girls at the door talking about how many tables Rachel had and they seemed to think that was funny. HOW SAD! Also... the hostess gave us a box to fill up with muffins, ect. as part of their normal Up selling....the bad part was that the box was very dirty. It looked like it had sat at 50 tables and never been used. If you want someone to buy bakery don't give them a box with old food, fingerprints and smudges all over it. Perkins also changed their coffee to a darker brew. Didn't care for that brew at all. I loved their coffee and sad to see that changed. We used to love our Perkins but this had to be told. I have also left the comments to the resturant and hope they will CLEAN the place up. While they are doing that they need to train their staff to be a TEAM. Kudos to Rachel for being a graceful and talented waitress, you deserve a better...
