Bought a bed a month ago, got delayed another month. Our salesman was very friendly and did his job well, He sold us a bed. Sleep number themselves give these amazing sales people a terrible name, by taking your money and not delivering. Here's the story.
Purchase a bed for $3,627.70 on the 25th of April and are told it will not be delivered until the 17th of May! Crazy, but we need a new bed and what's done is done. On the 15th, I get an email with our delivery window, 10AM to 1PM. How exciting! The wife and I already had taken the day off (because somebody named on the receipt has to be available for delivery and app set up.) I spent a good portion of the 16th purchasing and cutting furring strips to modify our current bed frame to ensure slats are not greater than 2" apart and our bed is arriving tomorrow! 11 AM we receive a call that our bed would not be delivered until the 11th of June.
I asked what happened. "You're bed did no arrive on the dock." Okay, so can you guarantee me that it will be delivered on that day if you physically do not know where it is currently? What compensation is there for this? Well, no promises about it arriving that day and the best they can do is refund the delivery fee. The best they can do is give me money back for delivery, which never happened anyways! She tells me to try the online help thing or call in. I try the online help center, which eventually leads to being told to call customer service and ask for a supervisor.
I call... and wait... and eventually get connected to someone who then puts me on hold for a supervisor. Minutes later, enter Kia, someone who may have been a supervisor? I explain everything as stated above and ask if she can guarantee delivery on the 11th. Kia puts me on hold and now tells me the bed will be delivered on the 1st, not the 11th. (mind you I got an email stating the 11th, not the first, so who knows when its coming! Sleep number definitely does not!) I again ask if they guarantee that seeing as they have no idea what's going on with the bed in the first place. Without confidence, she states that it is the intended delivery date. Great! So what about compensation for two people missing a day of work to be here when Sleep Number told me 2 DAYS AGO that the bed would be here? Nothing they can do. The sickening thing is that if the mattress doesn't arrive on the 1st (more than 5 weeks after sleep number happily took my money!) I will be forced to cancel my order and purchase a mattress somewhere else. Mind you, the mattress will be comfortable, less than a third of the cost of a sleep number, and I can drive it home the same day! What will sleep number give me in return? No compensation for the 5 weeks they made my neck and back ache while waiting, nothing for the lumber and labor I put into modifying my bed frame, nothing for the time missed from work waiting for delivery. At the very best, they may just give me a restocking fee for a bed I have never laid eyes on.
If someone from sleep number who actually has any authority and half a brain reads this, please give me a call. I would like to know if my mattress is supposed to arrive on the 11th as the emails states, or the first as "Supervisor" Kia had assured me...
Read moreMy chiropractor recommended a Sleep Number bed, and luckily, there was a store near my house. Initially, I called and spoke to David. He explained that I would come in, and it would take about an hour to go through the different types of beds and find the one right for me. David was terrific; he took his time, answered my questions and found the right bed for me. I left with three different options. He called a few days later to check on me and see if I had any follow-up questions. When I went in to purchase the bed, he, again, made sure I had clarity on the bed, setting up the phone app and delivery of my bed. My experience was exceptional; my bed should arrive in...
