The absolute worst experience I have ever had. I pulled in and called for the curbside order and pickup. I called and was told somebody would be right out to take my order. I waited 20 minutes before I went in and asked what was up. The hostess that had spoke to me on the phone was shocked nobody came out to get my order. About that time, the manager came out and she told him I had been waiting for 20 minutes and nobody came to take my order. She told him she called back to the servers but he said to her that nobody heard her. Then he said if I ordered, it was going to take 25-30 minutes to get my order and asked if I still wanted to order. I said yes, so he took my order, then sent another server to come take my payment. I paid, I had also asked the server that took my payment, to please make sure I get plenty of marinara and ranch for my 3 orders of wings and 2 orders of Mozzarella sticks, then I went back out to my car to wait. 35 minutes later I still had not received my order so I went back in. The hostess again was shocked I had not received my order. She herself went back to get it for me and a few minutes later came out with it. So, it was about 40 minutes to get that. I also said that the service was terrible, and as a person that used to be a server, I think there were things that could have been handled better and a manager could have stepped in and at least offered a drink while I waited seeing as how I was waiting an hour, but their lack of that or any communication about the delay was not ok and that a customer should be able to leave there happy. Welk, when I got out to my car, I double checked for the dips I requested and was surprised that I was only given 2 marinara sauces and nothing more. So I had to go in once more and at that point the hostess told the manager to come and speak to me. I again repeated how awful service was and what I believe could have been done better. I said seems to me , it being a holiday they just seemed to be in a hurry to get off work so they could go do their own thing and the manager told me that the holiday had nothing to do with the service, but that 5 people didn't show up for work and that needless to say, they will no longer be working there. But had he communicated that up front, that would have made a world of a difference. Also, after you know a customer has waited an hour, a manager really should do something to apologize, especially if he has failed to communicate with the customer. By the end, it took me over an hour for a very simple order. There were many people they were turning away as well, and plenty of people that were also upset for the long wait, however, one of the other customers was shocked by the length of my wait despite him being irritated for his own wait. I think they need to improve their communication skills and brush up on their customer service. Certain things can be out of their control, but communication goes a very long way in...
Read moreI gave Red Robin a chance despite reading and knowing about all the bad reviews on Yelp. Now I say, there is TRUTH in all of the bad reviews.
Long wait times to get a seat even though they aren't at capacity. My party and I waited around 25 minutes. It seems this is due to (1) slowness in the kitchen, (2) slowness in cleaning the tables to turn over for new guests, and (3) slowness in communicating to the Host/Hostess when a table becomes available. The Host/Hostess did a good job telling guests realistic wait times, and apologizing for the wait times. She was nice but it seems like no one is asking her for ideas on how to improve the restaurant.
Poor cleanliness. The table we were seated at had food under the table. I had to point this out in order to get the floor swept. The salt and pepper grinders I had to ask for arrived grimy.
Mediocre food quality. The fries were soggy not crispy. The fries at McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, or any other fast food restaurant easily top the French fry quality of this place. The burgers while huge had two major deficiencies, (1) unseasoned ground beef, and (2) buns that couldn't hold the large burger together. The third deficiency is the grease and water coming out of the burger. I had a puddle of water and oil on my plate by the time I finished the burger.
Questionable staff motivation. I'm not sure if this is due to poor pay or bad management or bad candidate selection or understaffing and overwork.
Be aware of implicit racism. I can't make any claims on this as I have only been here once. But a Google search has found others claim Red Robin in Portland of racial profiling. I am Asian and was seated in the back corner when there were other tables available. Next to my table was an African American mom with kids. Walking from the restroom and looking around I see the white parties seated in the middle and front of the restaurant. It could be just coincidence. However, I ask other patrons to be keenly alert to see if a trend emerges.
FYI, I came back to Red Robin with my family because I received a coupon for 50% off my meal. After this experience, I say the food here isn't worth it even at half off. Thus, to restaurant deal hunters I say, recycle/delete your coupon offers for Red Robin and eat somewhere else.
This is my second experience at a Red Robin. The first was 10 years ago and I don't remember having a bad experience 10 years ago. Has the chain gone down hill since? If so, turn around Red Robin, turn around quickly because a downward trend on the internet and social media quickly snowball's into an iceberg large enough to...
Read moreEntered at 6:10 told the wait time was an hour. At 7:15 went to check on the wait and was told 20 min. 7:45 was told 20min. Piinted out that is want the same lady had already said to us 30 min ago. Then was miraculously given a table. We ordered drink, appatizer and entre all at once. Fries abd our drinks arrived promptly. By 8:30 we were asking for drink refills and eta in the food. By 8:50 the couple seated 15 min after us was served their food and on the same tray our appatizer was served to us. When asking for a timeline for food the server told us there was an error and something happened to our order in he syatem it had been deleted somehow. So we had to order again and was assured it would be rushed out. Shortly after that my daughter tried to quickly get up and ended up puking on the floor trying to make it to the bathroom. She had eaten nothing but fries and milkshake for the past hour. We quickly told a staff member, and waited for assistance. It was almost 10 minutes before any staff came to help clean it. And they only cleaned up "most" of it. By 9:20 everyone around us had left already, we tell her to put it all in a togo box and give us our bill, by 9:35 we still had no food and tell the server to forget it we just want to go home and get the kids something sustainable to eat and to bed since its over an hour and a half past bedtime. Just then another staff brings a bag of togo food. It has a box of just fries and the 2 kid meal entrees, but my burger is not there. I finally get my burger and pay the $90 bill and we leave at 9:45. I have never spent almost 4 hours ag a restaurant and have everyone at my table not be give their meal. If not for the kind server we would have gotten up and left much sooner and I regret not doing that. But she truly kept trying to make it better for us despite all the things that kept happening. I dont know if i even want to go back to this restaurant again after this. I have never had such an experience as bad...
