Day: Saturday Time: 1pm
I had never eaten here before but it was close to a place I needed to go in Oregon, so I figured I'd give it a try. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered just an English muffin breakfast sandwich. I requested the addition of spinach, and was delighted when the waitress (Tina) came back to ask if I preferred just out-of-the-bag baby spinach or if I'd like it cooked a bit. That was service point #1 -- So far as our meals, my sister got an omelet w/ toast, home fries etc and the portions were very generous. She said it was all very tasty. My breakfast sandwich was good, with thick bacon and that lovely cooked spinach. Tina kept my coffee refilled and was very friendly.
Here's the best service point: I hadn't realized but an expensive personal item had fallen out of my pocket and was laying under the table. Tina discreetly pointed it out and asked if it was mine. I was so thankful, because while it was a very unique item and I'd have been able to call later and go back and get it, it would have been over 30 minute drive each way, so I was super appreciative that she called my attention to the item.
Star diner serves breakfast all day. Sign on door as of this review date 1-15-22 notes they are closed on Monday. Generous portions and top notch service mean that I will for sure be back!...
Read moreChill atmosphere, service was decent but there clearly wasn't enough servers so the wait to order was a bit long for such a smaller place. However, they were friendly and obviously doing their best. Food portions are large but a bit lackluster. Needed more seasoning on everything and the presentation was mediocre. Potatoes were 70% burnt to hell and had absolutely no flavor..also they said they were gonna be hash browns and they were simply au gratin-style sliced potatoes overcooked on the grill. Yikes. The French toast was decent as well. It's also difficult to even find the restaurant as it's located in the back of another plaza off the main street! No clear visible signage from the street view. You have to search to see a small black awning that doesn't even say STAR DINER...just a blank canvas . I might go back for another try but might not. Highly recommend one of the other Star Diner locations in the city over this one, namely...
Read moreStar Diner is a nice quiet diner. Went to the in Oregon right off the expressway. Open from like 6a-2p or something like that. We came in and sat ourselves. Wasn't busy at all. Was greeted and attended to immediately. Ordered and was eating in 10mins. Food was great. "Eggs and legs" my husband called the cute, sweet little waitresses with short skirts on lolol. Mainly single guys eating alone in there it seemed. It's good enough and large enough to seat full families. You get large portions for the price you pay. I liked Star better that Bob Evans's breakfast especially since they are under new management and Much better than Denny's because they treated us with respect. They have slamming grits w/cheese that almost beat out Hollywood Casino. Try them out if you want a nice quiet, clean place to eat for breakfast/ brunch. Remember...
