I had high hopes, I went to one of Bobby Flay's other restaurants a while back and loved it. The employee who took my order was super friendly, but definitely seemed stoned. I've worked in fast food for years, I know what I stoned employee looks like. I ordered a BBQ Smokehouse Burger with no cheese. She even repeated back "no cheese" and it looked like she was typing it in. However, the burger arrived with cheese. I asked if she would mind remaking it. I personally feel like if I'm spending $20 on just a burger and fries, it's reasonable to expect the item to be made correctly, especially with such a simple, common modification.
Unfortunately, when they gave me the new burger, it was a completely different one, the Brunch Burger. At that point, it seemed clear that I wouldn't be getting the burger I ordered, so I just ate the one they gave me and moved on. It wasn't bad, but I really was looking forward to trying what I had ordered.
As a restaurant worker, I always try to give other restaurants the benefit of the doubt before I judge too harshly or leave a bad review. I scanned the QR code on my receipt and left feedback just stating what had happened. Within a few minutes, I got a response via text that said "We're sorry that happened and hope to serve you better next time."
That rubbed me the wrong way. At any restaurant I've managed, even lower end ones like Arctic Circle, if a guest had an issue that big, receiving the wrong item twice, you offer to make it right. Coming from a business, an apology without action will always be empty. I expected no response, but this response might've actually been worse.
To assume there would be a "next time" when the first time had been such a negative experience and I had no reason to assume a "next time" would be any different? I'd just be risking more of my money. Any good restaurant manager would negate that risk to the customer by offering to comp their burger on their next visit to show that it was a one-time screw up and they'd taken steps to ensure it wouldn't happen again. They wouldn't just blow it off with an empty apology and assume I'd want to go back. I genuinely wish I could say I was more impressed, as I'm a big fan of Bobby Flay and have always enjoyed my experiences at his...

We stopped in at Bobby’s Burger Palace in the University Mall (Orem) and were drawn in by their creative burger offerings and commitment to freshness—no freezer on-site, which says a lot about their approach. Overall, it was a flavorful experience, but with a few missteps that held it back from being great.
We tried the Greektown Burger, a limited-time special, and it hit the mark if you’re into bold Mediterranean flavors. The feta cheese and tomato-cucumber relish added a bright, tangy contrast to the well-done Angus beef patty. It’s definitely worth ordering while it’s still available.
For sides, we went with the buttermilk-battered onion rings and fries. The onion rings were crispy and full of flavor—probably the highlight of the sides. The fries tasted great, but unfortunately arrived cold, which made us wonder how long they’d been sitting out. A fresh batch would have elevated the meal.
The pistachio shake was another standout. It’s not a flavor you see often, and this one delivered—a rich, creamy custard base with real pistachio flavor that didn’t taste artificial.
We needed a gluten-free option, so we opted for a lettuce-wrapped Bacon Crunch Burger. That’s where things got a bit messy—literally. Instead of a proper wrap, it was more like a loosely stacked burger with lettuce pieces placed on top and bottom. It made it difficult to eat and didn’t hold together like a true lettuce wrap should.
We also tried the Bacon Crunch Burger with a bun, which fared much better. The bacon and potato chip topping added excellent texture and flavor. That said, it leaned a little too salty—even for someone who typically enjoys salt-heavy dishes.
Final thoughts: Bobby’s offers fresh, inventive burgers and some unique shake and topping options. They clearly care about quality, but they could improve consistency—especially with serving temperatures and execution of dietary modifications. Still, it’s a solid spot to check out if you’re in the mood for something different and made...
Read moreBobby's Burgers is in a tricky location in the University Place Mall for a popular burger place because it's in a small corner. There's very limited seating, and the only table we could use was dirty and had food all over the floor from someone's child. No additional tables spilling into the hallway because it's at a mall entrance, so there are no other options to eat there if the few tables are occupied. The staff behind the counter were nice and a little laid back, probably just fine for a small burger joint. It smelled great and drew people in with the aroma alone. There was an ordering screen at one end, but we just ordered from the cashier.
The menu is not too big and has a few options other than burgers for those who want a veggie burger, chicken sandwich, etc. It seemed a bit pricey though, definitely paying for Bobby Flay's name on the door. For burgers, you can choose medium or well done. The beverage selection includes shakes and specialty coffees, there were a few side options, and a breakfast menu that looked pretty good (mornings only).
The Bacon Crunchburger was good, but Bobby's sauce, which is on most of the burgers on the menu, is pretty spicy, which we didn't know when we ordered it. No mention anywhere on the menu that the sauce is spicy either. We would have just asked for no sauce. Kind of ruined an otherwise good burger for us.
The sweet potato fries were good. I guess by default they came with honey mustard horseradish, which overpowered the simple sweet taste of the fries, so we didn't really use it. The other sauce options were ranch or Bobby's sauce, so we didn't bother with another sauce for the fries.
The cookies and cream shake was a little fluffy and overmixed, so it seemed like there was more shake than was actually there. We split a shake, so we felt a little cheated on our treat. Oh well.
Overall, it's possible we might go to Bobby's Burgers again. Now we know what to expect - have a backup plan for seating, and get a burger without the...
