Here are my two most recent experiences with this past Saturday first. The second experience is from mid October. Saturday we went in without a reservation for a party of 8 and were seated rather quickly. We were greeted politely and the service in general was all very good. Our server Cesar did an excellent job at making sure we were well taken care of which can be hard for a bigger party. He kept our drinks filled, upsold what he could, and kept us engaged. The food came out in a good amount of time about 20 minutes, however, it did come in waves and with the loud ambiance was hard to hear which order was which and so some people accidentally started eating the wrong persons orders. This time though my steak was way over cooked. I always order either rare or medium rare depending on how much I trust the place. Here I ordered medium rare, however, I received it cooked between medium well and well done. I was the last wave of food brought out and we were in a hurry so I just ate it. It was quite chewy and didn't taste like it had been seasoned. Several others steaks were also cooked to the wrong temperature all very overdone. My grandpa was brought out a steak instead of pork chops. The potatoes were also chunky. The service I give 5/5 and the food a 1or 2/5.
The second experience was almost a mirror image of the first. We arrived and were sat at a small 2 top. Several tables were opened while we sat there waiting for our server. Our server came about 20 minutes later and was very blunt. He never brought us rolls so we asked another server which we hate to do but then had to ask another server again for refills. Shortly after runners had brought out our food he dropped the check off at our table. We had only taken the first few bites. He never checked to see how the food tasted or to offer desserts. While we had sat waiting I watched the other servers open tables(I have been in the restaurant industry for years and like observing and learning) and there were two tables that were opened that I want to mention just in case. Let me preface that I am not sure if there is a different ID checkpoint or system of checking IDS for Texas Roadhouse. The first table was quite young and I would have ID'd every person on the table not one person was checked and they were all served alcohol which would have made me very nervous as I would not want any fines or penalties. Then a second table who looked to be in their 30's with a different server also never checked any ID's and served them alcohol. It did seem a little safer but again I am not one to risk it. There was also no water brought out with the drinks which again could be based off their alcohol license requirements. (On my most recent visit no one around us had ordered so I couldnt see if things had changed, things that had changed though were the front door got fixed and it appeared some new signage for IDing was put up) Our food was actually all quite delicious and cooked to their proper temperatures the only complaint was that there was sour cream on my mashed potatoes when I had asked for no sour cream. Service was definitely a 1/5 but food was probably still a 5/5.
All in all I do really like Texas Roadhouse I just wish there was some consistency with their food...
Read moreOur Server, Nikki, was FABOULOUS! Unfortunately, Nikki had to work 10-times harder because the bartender couldn't do their job. In addition, when my husband and I arrived, we must have hit a very popular time period. There were approximately a half a dozen parties that needed to be seated. The restaurant was over half empty, so the parties were being seated rather quickly - that is until it came to the very last couple which happened to be us. It would have been courteous for the front desk people to have prepared us for how long of a wait we should expect. Both my husband and I had to use their restroom as we initially walked in. While waiting to be seated, there was no less than four workers standing around the front desk just chatting - there were no new customers to sign-in to be seated. I noticed a large number of fresh bread baskets sitting under the heat lamp just behind the front desk. I leaned into my husbands hear and whispired, "someone isn't doing their job". FINALLY, my husband couldn't wait any longer and left to use their facilities. Immediately after he had left, the person called our name to be seated. That person was one of the individuals doing nothing but chatting at the front desk for at least 15 minutes while we were waiting to be seated. Toward the end of our meal, a female manager came to our table, introduced herself and asked how our service was. Again, we had nothing bad to say about our server at all, she was extremely pleasant and was working very hard to make our experience enjoyable. ALL of the SERVERS seemed to be working extremely hard at their jobs. Before leaving our table, the manager informed us that if we needed anything to just let her know. I Immediately informed her that all three women's bathroom stalls were out of potty protectors. She did appear to be surprised and concerned that all three stalls did not have any protectors available. After finishing our meal and paying our bill (probably a good 15 minutes), I went to the restroom, again, looking forward to seeing potty protectors in the stalls. Well, there was still none so I guess the manager really wasn't that concerned about that issue. If I worked at this Orem Texas Roadhouse Restaurant and a customer made a complaint directly to me, I would have taken it upon myself to resolve the issue immediately instead of introducing myself to customers sitting at tables enjoying their meal and asking how their Servers treated us. Yes, I understand there may have been a valid explanation as to why this manager couldn't refil the empty potty protector holders herself, but if the reason was something like the restaurant didn't have any supplies, then they have bigger issues to resolve.
My husband and I had been to the Idaho Texas Roadhouse Restaurant and had one extremely fabulous meal and experience. That was the main reason for us selecting this restaurant in Orem, UT. Our food experience, the cleanliness of the restaurant and overall customer service, excluding our server Nikki, was below average. If we would have tried the UT Roadhouse Restaurant first, I guarantee you we would never have had a desire to go to the...
Read moreThe food was amazing as always, but I have never had a waitress rush us like Sadie did today. I came in to celebrate my Birthday with my six year old. Everything was pretty normal until about ten minutes after we received our food. When Sadie had left our table after dropping off our food I had noticed our drinks were empty and made a note to ask for a refill when she came back around. However when she did I was so thrown off by her question I didn’t remember to ask. I know restaurants have a certain amount of time they like customers to be there especially whenever it’s a single adult and a child. But we had only had our food for maybe 10 minutes by the time she had come back around. She didn’t ask how we were, how the food was, or if we needed refills, but had asked me if we were still eating or if we were done yet. I let her know we were still eating and she walked away. I thought it was strange and looked at my phone because I had taken a photo of my son right after we had received our appetizer and sent it to my friend, and it had only been 19 minutes. I shrugged it off that maybe she was busy and got us confused with another table or something. But about 10 minutes later she was back, and asked us if we were going to need boxes or if we were still eating. I again was taken back and let her know we were still eating but would need boxes later on and again forgot to ask about the refills. Another 5 minutes went by and Sadie was back again with boxes! She said ‘I’m not rushing you but I just was bringing these to you for when you’re ready, but no rush!’ They had sat us at a table that was so small it only had two chairs and the plates hardly fit, so there was no room to put the boxes, unless I placed them on the floor. I finally got the hint she wanted us to leave, so I told her thanks and started putting our food in the boxes, and only then did she ask me if we wanted refills, or even drinks to go, and again ‘no rush!’ I could understand if my son was being disruptive or making a mess but he actually was quietly playing the games they have on their kiosk. We also have been to this location before and spent quite a bit of time taking our time eating and enjoying the atmosphere before without being rushed, and never asked if we were finished eating yet, especially three different times without asking how our meal was going. I don’t know if we will come back to this location after our...
