Food: 4/5 I thought the sushi was decent nothing crazy. The rice didn’t have a lot of seasoning and pretty loose. I got the all you can eat lunch. I paid $18.99 for it. The AYCE comes with a few skewers and it was good. Just upsetting because the pics they had in the menu looked nothing alike. 😂
Service: 2/5 At first upon sitting down the service was looking like it was going to be great. But as soon as I got seated things started to be a bummer. Server was very un attentive to me the whole time I was there. Every time I needed something I had to flag him down. I asked him a couple questions which to double a few orders and never got it done. In my defense I asked 3/4 times I feel like that should be enough. Note that I came for lunch and it’s a bit later than the lunch rush and he didn’t have many tables. It was just me and another table.
Atmosphere: 4/5 I really liked that it was clean. I thought the atmosphere was good. Definitely a sea themed restaurant. They offer AYCE dinner options.
All in all it was a decent experience. The lack of speed they brought the food on a less busy lunch was the only thing I can point out. I feel like it could have gone faster. They also need to have better service than that. I would come back again in the future to check it out. If they improve I don’t mind rewriting my review.
I’m doing an update review:
Food: The dinner service is very underwhelming. Nothing looked fresh when we walked in which was 4:30 pm. The seafood option is a glorified buffet. I would rather spend the money at a king buffet or feast both down on state street for the quality of the food.
Service: Just a lot of idle and very unprofessional environment. Out server was just standing and texting and not paying attention. Sushi was super slow because it was quite busy. They only have one sushi chef. The buffet sashimi never got replenished the 2 hours we were there. The food part at some point got better attention.
Atmosphere: It’s clean. Theme is nothing crazy. I just thought the idleness of the server and no help from the sushi chef made it a bad experience. If I’m gonna drop $30 for at e sushi I’ll definitely go to Mr. Shabu better service and...
Read moreFirst thing first - your food is amazing. I am from Miami and I know good seafood. Your seafood is better than most landlocked places out here.
The bad, which I completely overlooked after I started eating btw, has to at least be pointed out.
This is only a critique of the service I got prior to being seated: I called in a reservation last night due to it being Valentine’s Day. They even took my name down and how many. I showed up even 10 minutes early. I was told (after clearly NOT having any proof of reservation being taken) that I would be waiting at least 25 minutes. There was a group before me that also had a reservation right before me and they were told the same thing.
People came in right after us, no reeervation. They got told the same thing. Every single person that came in kept getting told 25 minutes. There was even a point where you had tables that weren’t even bussed for 10 minutes just sitting there while we, who were silly to even think that there was an actual reservation system, were wondering about. I even joked that I’d bus the table myself.
That being said - the crab boils were so good I stuffed myself with 1 1/2 lbs of crab and I wish I could have eaten more. Please open in Saratoga Springs because I’d be there once a week. 😂
Your King Crab is the best I’ve had in Utah
Im sure staffing is an issue and this likely contributed to the service prior to being seated. Once we sat, we only waited a little bit while our awesome waitress ran around and made magic happen around us. She was attentive, checked up on us, got everything right, and was very personable. 5 stars after being sat and 5+++ stars for every interaction after.

Read moreUpdate March '25: Completely closed now, very sad to see what happened to what used to be an amazing place.
Updated after the redesign March '24: what used to be a 5* slam dunk is now a sad, disappointing shell of what it used to be. We hadn't been in a couple months, saw the new signs that they changed to a buffet. Went in hoping it was still the same food, but sadly it's now your typical flavorless buffet food. It's still decent, although I don't think it's worth the price. But it's just so șad that it isn't the amazing experience I describe below.
We unfortunately have no plans to return.
Review before the redesign:
This place is amazing! We've been patiently waiting for months for it to open so we can try it, since we love seafood boils. The one that's across the street from here just isn't great, and we've been driving up north to one. But no more!
We got the Family A, which was more than enough for the 2 of us with a bit leftover for lunch the next day. We also tried the clam chowder and the calamari, a couple of our favorites, and they were both excellent as well.
If you like spicy, definitely get the Fire. It's really nice flavorful heat that doesn't just burn your mouth. We always get the Special Blend and everything tasted so good. We'll be coming back here a lot.
Dayna was a great server, and he was on top of everything.
Edit: Been back two more times, and quality has been consistent so we will. Keep coming.
I see other reviews comparing it to Kickin' across the street, and...no, just no. We didn't like Kickin' because the sauces over there are sweet. I guess if that's what you're after, then sure, but Pier 8 is so much better...
