My family and I stayed 5 days at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort in Orlando. New Dutch Trading company is the go to place for a quick bite, coffee and snacks. If you have a family (with children) and looking for “cost effective eats,” I would not recommend it. (Bring dry breakfast food/snacks for the kids until you leave the resort for the day.) We ate there 3 times during our stay. From the grab and go cold bar we had the turkey and rye sandwich, ham and provolone, fresh fruit and cups. Package very nicely but about average. The hot Breakfast sandwiches are really good, Bacon, egg and cheese croissant, Turkey egg white wrap and a sausage and cheese biscuit. Each sandwich was a nice sized portion and very good, I recommend the Turkey and egg white wrap. We also had their Gelato (Chocolate Brownie is my favorite) and a selection of coffee. My only concern was the customer service. Over all it was good, until my mom returned her wrap because it had an ingredient she was allergic to and it was not listed on the menu board. Even though I order her food she was told “she should have asked what is in it.” That comment was told her by the “Manager,” was off putting, especially while she (manager) was looking at the menu board above her trying to read if ALL the ingredients were listed (there were not). The days following the incident it was noticeable that some of the staff would walk away and try to avoid eye contact with her. It’s unfortunate that the guest that stay on property and go back to the restaurants are treated in a negative way. Overall the food was good and a bit over- priced. The customer service started out good, but was not consistent. Your experience may...
Read moreIf I could give 2.5 stars, I would - but unfortunately (maybe fortunately?) I can’t. Recently came down for gelato, coffee, and drinks. The refillable drinks are what they are - pay X amount for free refills, but the size is a bit misleading. Not a big deal. Coffee is very, very hit or miss - espresso is non-existent and the coffee is very poor for the most part. That’s okay though, especially for a resort coffee place. However, the gelato isn’t really gelato - it’s ice cream, plain and simple. And going back and forth between ordering (I ordered, was told to wait at the end, then informed to wait at the other end all while the cashiers are mumbling directions) is frustrating. Also, when asking simple questions (Do you have more of this gelato?) I get hit with the “Of course we do. Why wouldn’t we have more?” … Okay, I was just asking a simple question.
Sorry for the spiel, but this level of customer service just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the final...
Read moreI will miss my morning visits to the coffee shop and all of your smiling faces :-) especially you Ronitha!! The staff & day manager are so friendly. I bought a gelato right after check-in which tasted ok, but the welcome I received on subsequent mornings makes this place stand out. I wish this coffee shop was in my home city, I would go there every day just to start the day off right! The coffee is good and there are many grab and go items to choose from for breakfast or snacks throughout the day. The coffee shop is located on the lobby level of the The Sapphire Falls resort where I attended a 3-day conference. Incidentally, the hotel is very nice and I had a comfortable (standard) room. The gym at this resort is remarkably good for a hotel! I don’t typically write reviews for hotels (or coffee shops for that matter) but Ronitha at the Dutch Trading Co. brightened my day & makes this business noteworthy....
