Awesome looking place! The decorations were on point to fit a steam punk style. Sitting in the restaurant really feels like you're in a whimsical factory. There's a robot named Jaq who walks around sometimes and is super funny. Near the entrance is an entire bakery and a window where you can watch the chefs prepare the desserts! They looked a little sad rushing all the orders and it was very visible to the audience. However that can be forgiven since I'd be sad too being on display for all the passer-byers 😅 Looking at all the decorations can help pass the time while waiting for your host to seat you after they told you your table was ready. We didn't even notice 20 minutes pass while standing in the doorway for them to clean off the table they eagerly wanted us to stand in the lobby to wait for. After we were guided to our table by the angry looking host, half our party stood around the table unable to sit at what we saw. We didn't even have half our chairs! Remember the awesome decorations I talked about before? They came in handy while standing around waiting for chairs. Jaq the robot came around and saw us standing and said "Welcome fine guests! Please! Have a seat!" Then walked away. It seemed kind of rude, with us not having chairs and all, but I'll give him a pass this time because he's a robot and the situation was probably out of his coding. After almost 10 more minutes, we finally were given chairs! Sitting at last! Our orders were taken, and drinks were given. At the time I wish I knew to pace my drinking, because we were never given any refills the entire night. The food was awesome but small, and the dessert was even better! With the amount of chocolate, I wish I had more water to wash down all the sugar. After asking 3 different workers for water, no water came. My friend with swallowing problems almost choked on his food due to the lack of drink, but luckily we had a water bottle to save his life. After the waiter dropped the check off and ran off, we waited another 20 minutes, watching the screens on the walls playing the same video on loop. I walked up to the hosts with my check to see if I could pay, and they told me "sit back down at your table, your waiter will be back to take it." While waiting another 15 minutes, Jaq came by to help pass the time with pictures, then finally our waiter came back! Chocolate factory visit was a success! Excluding the terrible staff, the depressing amount of neglect, and the forced gratuity of $50+ for the worst server I've ever had, it was an okay experience.
Moral of the story I'd recommend visiting at least once, but I'd never want to go again, haha!
(P.S. Even after all that waiting for them to clean our table, there was still food and sauces all under the table. We had to ask twice for them to throw a towel under and kick the food to the side for the next guest. Be careful before setting your bags...
Read moreWhat was supposed to be a fun dinner outside the park, at a restaurant my family nor I had ever experienced turned quickly with the horrible customer service received. When we first walked in, we were in awe and couldn’t wait to indulge. There was a small line to get to the hostess, and two employees checking guests in. I was greeted with, “Do you have a reservation?” When I told them I did not, I was looked at in disgust and was told to get into the other line with the other hostess. OK no problem, got into the other line and was again asked if I had a reservation, and again told her no I did not. At that point she rudely informed me that it was going to be a 40 minute wait and there was no guarantee I would be seated inside, it would be first ability, did I still want it? Which I responded yes, due to we had never been and wanted to experience it. Gave her my information, checked out the goodies at the shop, and waited outside for our turn. Once we received the text that our table was ready, we proceeded back inside and were met by the same hostesses. When I went to check in with the lady on the left, I was received again with, “Do you have a reservation?” I told her I had received a text that our table was ready. I was rudely told that her line were for people with reservations only and I needed to check in with the person next to her. Ok here we go again. Went to the right and checked in. The person gathering the menus had everything unorganized and couldn’t get the menus together. When she finally did we were taken to a table outside. We waited, nobody came to service us or even greet us. Waiters were in and out the door. I was upset with the service we had already received but kept trying to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, in hopes that it was just the staff in the front. Needless to say, we decided to pick up our belongings and left. Please understand that customer service is key. There are better ways of greeting people other than asking them immediately if they have a reservation. My party was not the only party received in this manner and you could tell the other parties were unappreciative, but like myself didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. Please ensure that the face of your restaurant has a pleasant demeanor and actually want to be there. A simple, “Hi how can I help you today?” goes a lot further than being looked at disgust because I didn’t have a reservation. “Here we usually go by reservations, but we do have a standby list, based on first availability, we are currently at a 40 minute wait. Would you like to be placed on the list?” Phrases like that would have been a lot more appreciated than how I was treated and the tone I was spoken to. I understand that jobs can become repetitive, and the staff see faces day in and day out, but being dismissive and being rude is not a way to approach people....
Read moreNestled on city walk Orlando, Florida just outside of Univeral Studios island of Adventure Park, is the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. My fiancée and our mutual friend visited this restaurant when we came to the park as we’ve never been to this restaurant and reserved a table on a whim to try it out. So on October 27, 2024 we came and tried it out. We started with appetizers being an almond bread served with caramel butter, and truffle oil French fries. The Almond bread with the caramel butter was pretty dang good the bread I will stay was alittle dry but once you put that sweet butter on it made a world of different and it tasted great. The French fries were very soggy, and while they had some decent flavor honestly I don’t know if I would choose them again. I had a French fry flight the day before at Disney’s Epcot for $8 for three different flavors of fries and those had so much flavor and were hot and crunchy so these were very subpar on the flavor department. For drinks I ordered a chocolate banana mixed drink with was alright but it packed a punch that bartender was not messing around with the liquor. I then ordered dinner which was a national chocolate day special which was lamb chops served with potatoes and a chocolate sauce. The lamb chops were delicious and tender and had a lot of flavor, the chili stuff rapini had good flavor and a bit of a kick to it but was pretty well balanced, and the mashed potatoes were a smash hit but the chocolate brandy sauce should of been in the trash, it was unbearable how gross the sauce was but the meal was good other then that. With that being said my meal alone for the lamb chops were $40 for 2 small lamb chops and I will say it was not worth it at all. My fiancée ordered the gnocchi which she thought was going to be a traditional gnocchi but we were wrong and I even had a taste of it and that was also unbearable honestly. We didn’t ask to remove it from our bill we asked for her to get a burger though and the hostess did remove the gnocchi from the bill and brought out a applewood bacon smoked burger. Now hold up because that burger was absolutely touch notch. The meat was so juicy and tender I would say that burger was probably one of the best I’ve had in my lifetime too 10 for sure and I only had 2 bites she let me have. While having dinner the “owner” of the chocolate factory came over with her robot friend and would talk to the guest and spoke with us. It was a cool little gesture and side show. Overall I would have to give this restaurant a 3.5 out of 5. The service was good, the atmosphere was cool, it’s like a steampunk version of Willy wonka and the chocolate factory but it just wasn’t worth the amount spent...
