We went here based on other reviewers and recommendations and because we are just big Mexican food fans! The atmosphere was very cool and authentic Mexican restaurant. It was a bit darker insider and we were seated in the main table area and felt like we were in an auditorium where they added a bunch of tables. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing spot, this wasn’t it for us. The guy playing music was nice, but he took a lot of breaks during the short time we were there - which was prime dinner time. Definitely make reservations. If you don’t have them, there could be very long waits. They seated us very promptly upon our arrival and they turn tables really fast. We were jokingly running a timer when a table would get up before it was sat again. Never more than 5 minutes! As for the food, we weren’t overly impressed. I mean, it was good, but not amazing. I felt like I could find food of this quality at a lot of other Mexican restaurants. Our service was probably just average at best. Our servicer would disappear for awhile and didn’t check on us or most of his tables frequently. We had the queso, which tasted like melted Velveeta without much by ways of salsa or any seasonings. Chips were bland and we asked for salt. Guess we should’ve gotten the guacamole. We also got the beef birria tacos. These were good but are street tacos. We knew that and enjoyed them, but not everyone realizes the difference. The rice was a cilantro rice with not much cilantro flavor. Honestly, I was most disappointed in that part. The kids taco was fine. Nothing special about it and nothing that made any of us in a big hurry to return. Maybe we are spoiled and have wonderful Mexican restaurants by us at home that set the bar so high. It was our least favorite meal while dining here for a week. Not sure we will return when coming back. Margarita was the best thing I had! It was delicious! I would return just to order this.

In Orlando for a agriculture conference decided to go for citywalk for dinner since I was staying a universal dockside a shuttle was provided to citywalk as we entered we had to wait in a line to go through metal detectors. We walked through the path and there we saw a colorful building with a bell on top. We had made reservations earlier in the day for 8pm . We checkein and was told to wait until they texted us. We decided to eat indoors. This took about 10 minutes. We received our text and proceded to enter and was seated next to the kitchen area. This was a large restaurant that also had second floor and outdoor seating. To my surprise there was live band playing a mixed of Mexican songs. We scan our code and was able to check menu. We ordered nachos with chicken. Drinks came quickly and so did our appetizers. Plus the meal included chips with salsa. Appetizers were excellent chicken was seasoned perfectly and cheese gave it a great flavor. Guacamole and sou cream was the toppings, guacamole needed more salt and flavor. For dinner I ordered Tierra y Mar dish and quesadilla both dishes came with generous portions. Tierra y Mar dish was different but delicious braise ribs with shrimp and in mole sauce. This mole sauce had a cinnamon, cardimon, and sweetness to it, but at the same time I was able to taste the coriander. This was an explosion of flavors that that the tamale helped neutralize. The tamale was simple served with a cream sauce and sprinkle of chorizo. Cilantro rice was parboiled rice with a hint of cilantro. Shrimp were over seasoned for my palatte, but was able to eat t three out of four . They had an opened kitchen concept which it was interesting to see how the kitchen prepared our food. Overall this was a nice quick experience.

Labeling this place as 'authentic' is quite a stretch. Just because there are a few Mexican employees doesn’t make it the real deal. The food here is Americanized to the point where it loses its roots—honestly, it's disappointing. Our server was okay—not rude, but not particularly engaging either. Service was passable, but we’ve all had better. Now, onto the food. As a Mexican who lived in Mexico for a few years and travels extensively, I can confidently say this place misses the mark on authentic flavors. We started with the queso fundido, and unfortunately, the cheese was burnt, and the corn tortillas that came with it were uncooked and cold. I didn't snap a photo because my partner was too hangry to wait! The tableside guacamole was decent, but only because I stepped in and told the guy how to make it. I noticed other people’s drinks had a Tajín rim, so I asked for a side of Tajín, and that’s what made the esquite worth eating—otherwise, it was bland and unremarkable. For my main course, I had the enchiladas verdes. The tortillas were barely cooked and served lukewarm—like they barely touched the stove. After reading other reviews, it seems this is a common issue. It’s not just that the tortillas are cold—they're undercooked. I ended up ditching the tortillas altogether and just ate the filling, which was mediocre at best. My partner enjoyed his fajitas, but he's more of a meat and rice kind of guy, so that speaks volumes. The ambiance is confusing—seems like they're going for a lucha libre vibe but it doesn’t quite land. This place feels like it’s surviving solely because of its location in Universal Studios’ CityWalk. I doubt it would last long elsewhere. Some of the good reviews make sense when you consider who’s writing them—drunk tourists or folks who may not know any better. To top it off, we literally came to this place before it started raining, and it was dead—only a few tables occupied. Now that it’s pouring outside and has been for the last 10 minutes, you look around, and it’s almost jam-packed. So again, this place will probably never change. Don’t get fooled, this place sucks. In the end, this is Universal, not Disney, where quality and attention to detail actually matter. Don’t expect anything exceptional here.

We got the Table-side Guacamole, Flautas, chicken/steak fajitas for two a Tamarindo Aguas Frescas… So first, we were walk-up on a Sunday night and they sat us immediately outside, which was great. Our service took awhile to get our order but it seemed like she was super busy… we ordered our food and she brought us complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was very mild but good, needed a little salt honestly. And I love that they brought a huge portion of chips, but they were really cold and didn’t seem very fresh, like maybe they made them an hour or so ago… so that was disappointing. Our food did come very quickly, which I give them props for since they were so busy. Our Flautas came first, and they were good but they came cold, and I wish I got a pic but they were not cooked in-between each other, so it was crispy in the parts you see but the Sid’s were completely not fried at all. Although, they were very tasty! The Table-side guac was the star of tonight, hands-down! Obviously super fresh and perfect amount of each ingredient. It’s expensive but TOTALLY worth it! The fajitas were such a downer. The only positive thing I can say is they cooked the steak to perfection. But the chicken was dry and over-cooked, and all the meat was flavorless… no salt, no seasoning. It was really odd, and the veggies also were not cooked all the way either. The tortillas were not fresh, I could buy better tortillas than that. The guac that they give you with that fajitas was TERRIBLE and NOT fresh, it tasted like day old guac that they left airated and it was just terrible and ruined the entire thing. This place just isn’t great lol I’m sorry, but you’ll have much better food going to Chuys. If you do decide to go here regardless, at least do yourself a favor and order the Table-Side Guacamole so it’s not a complete waste of your time :) because that was AMAZING

This is a nice sized restaurant that has tables to accommodate anything from 2 to we saw groups of 20 or more people. We were seated by the stage which had a live band playing. It wasn't too loud to have a conversation with them playing. The waitress brought out a nice sized basket of tortilla chips with salsa while you look over menu. We both ordered the house special Chimichaga. It comes with a small bowl of black beans and rice on the side. The Chimichanga is very nice size and probably comes in at about a pound. The meat inside is chicken and it has two types of sauces along with cheese and several other ingredients. It all worked great together for flavor and was very filling. I had a blood orange margarita to go with it. This was a recommendation by our waitress. It gives you a little kick of the top shelf tequila followed by a pleasant taste that went well with the meal. For dessert my wife had cheese flan and i had fried ice cream with 2 churros. The flan my wife said was very good. It's a nice light dessert. My fried ice cream was ok. It has a very sweet raspberry topping on the ice cream that didn't go well with the chocolate and granola fried on the ice cream. Honey would have gone really well with it. Once i got past the raspberry the churros (2) were really good dipping in the sauce drizzled under them and the melting part of the ice cream. Kayla F was a great waitress. She was quick with recommendations and had actually eaten the food along with tried the blood orange margarita. She was fast with drink refills even with the place getting busy. More servers need to be like her. We highly recommend this for the food and entertainment. Food prices: Chimichanga 15.95, blood orange margarita 14.50, flan 6.00 and fried ice cream 5.50

Pro tip: make a reservation if you are planning on visiting this restaurant. The wait times were insane. We had a reservation at 7pm and when we were checking in I heard them tell people they could seat at 9:30. Rough. The restaurant was clean and busy. The chips and salsa was delicious. The salsa was not spicy and more tomato-y. We got the guacamole made by the table and it was well worth it. We got the quesadilla with stake and a chimichanga. The green chimichanga sauce was a bit spicy but not too bad, just a bit of a kick. We had some live singing, which was pretty awesome. It is LOUD, but good. Just be aware if they place it’s difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling. Why the four stars? Even though we had a reservation they were running behind and I had to check twice to see if we had a table ready. The noise level made it difficult to have a conversation. Our waiter was processing multiple tables and wasn’t very personable.. but he got everything right. Getting the guac was incredibly slow. We were basically filled up on chips because it took so long. Getting our food was an atrocious long wait but was basically full on chips and salsa/guac. We brought it all home. Really it was just the level of coordination that was lacking. If they could get this piece well oiled this is a great restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our experience even with the minor bumps. We would definitely come back and would recommend to anyone - but PLEASE make a reservation or you will be disappointed.
