A nice hotel. We entered the spacious lobby and was immediately greeted by the front desk receptionist. Jocelyn was pleasant and engaging. She was able to get us checked-in quickly but she did take her time answering all my questions (laundry, pool, breakfast, shuttle). Our room was assigned and we made our way to our accommodations for the week. The room was clean (so it appeared) and in excellent condition with ample lighting all throughout. The living area was spacious, comfortable, and had a good sized smart tv with a reasonable number of channels. The kitchen consisted of a small full size fridge, microwave, and a 2 burner electric glass-top range. It was plenty stocked, enough to prepare & cook simple meals. Flatware, drinking glasses, plates, bowls, toaster, pots, pans, etc. We found the the beds to be comfortable with nice linens and pillows (the pillows were a little too puffy for my liking). The bedside nightstands each had electrical outlets, USB A ports, and USB C ports. The bathroom was rather typical, shower only for us (other rooms had tubs). The shower just big enough for two. It's a nice room!! Breakfast was excellent. There were many options (eggs, chicken, waffles, potatoes, sausage, bacon, bread & english muffins, cereals, milk, juice, overnight oats, fruits, and more) to the full hot breakfast. The breakfast attendant stayed on top of things. The entire breakfast remained fully stocked from the time it opened until the time it closed. There is plenty enough space, tables & chair for sitting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- On our second day we discovered the roaches that were sharing the room with us. They weren't plentiful, but they certainly themselves know in the kitchen and dining areas. This was reported to the front desk as well as the USB ports in the nightstands not working. Cianna, at the front desk, immediately offered to move us to a different room. At that time we declined as we thought we had squashed all the bugs. Maintenance came in and sprayed for the bugs but that was ineffective. The two next days bugs remained present. On top of those issues, the smoke detector began sounding in the middle of the night, several times. Needless to say, there was no smoke, there was no fire. This too was reported to the front desk and we changed rooms the next day. The next room was better but it too came with a problem. The black out curtains were riddles with holes. This was reported and was immediately replaced by the maintenance staff. Lastly, giving credit where credit is due, Cianna and Mariah both took ownership of our experience and did all they could to rectify the problems and make things right! Unable to offer an immediate, true solution, they front desk staff are working with our travel agent to comp a night's room.

For the past years I have stayed on similar class Hilton or Hyatt hotels, unfortunately Homewood Suites Near Universal Studios is below standards of all the others. For the first time I used the choose your room feature, selected one near the elevator to have a short walk to lobby, breakfast, universal transfer etc, and provide the room keys on your phone. None of that worked. Our room was not available and ready by 3:30 pm, had to go to the lobby which had just one person already busy. Even knowing that we had selected the room 508(near the broke elevator), only after we got the cards to the room we were let aware that the main elevator was not working (we leave tomorrow and it is still not working). From others feedbacks, it is broken for at least two weeks! On the busiest time of the year! It made us walk 200 meters everytime, get that far back busy single elevator working, on the second day here it cost us the transfer to universal. Which left at exactly 9:20 in front of us as we just arrived at its stop (late as we had to run 200 meters, get a spot on the only one busy old elevator). Btw, poor perk, that bus only run a couple of times on the morning and on the evening, we gave our names befohand and it didn't guarantee anything (they don't care if are in or not). **** Checkout UPDATE the second/only working elevator is not working! So "please use the stairs!!", with all your bags, child and etc. **** Note that we are a couple, with our four year old, which obviously makes all slower. Breakfast is almost average, but standard for most American chains. This hotel states recently renewed but clearly the facilities were not, the only elevator left is one of the oldest that I have ever seen, poorly maintained, pieces falling apart, on par with the very old air conditioning system on the room, very noisy, never aligned with the room temperature so not comfortable at all. When you are waiting for the elevator, there an open Room, facilities room, with a big fan running 24/7 to cool down the main power metering/blocks, isn't nice?? Room doors need review, old windows need review, etc.. Can't recommend this place, it is not a Hilton.

Great hotel which is in proximity of Universal Studios Orlando. There is a Universal booth inside this hotel which allows you to purchase tickets and passes onsite. Is it better or worse than online...honestly not a huge difference. I believe buying it at the booth inside Homewood was about $10 cheaper but that's it. Nothing crazy - and tickets are highly subjective on date and time of when you are going into the parks. Shoutout to (Larry, I think?) who was so helpful in getting us our tickets! There is a shuttle service which you have to register for at the booth. Morning shuttles to the parks and then evening shuttles are only at 5:20, 6:30, and 8pm. If you are staying late at the parks, don't take the 8pm shuttle because it will be extremely full, and it's first come first serve. We just took the 5:20 shuttle and it was sorta full but not fully packed. As for the hotel, it was great. 4 stars, not the most amazing hotel but it is nice. Homewood suites meaning that it creates that "cozy" and home like feeling with the larger suites and mini kitchen. There is a full size fridge, microwave, 2 burner stove top, dishwasher, kitchen sink, all metal utensils, silverware, plates, etc. Small dining table with two chairs. Living room area has a pull out sofa bed (can seat 2-3) and a small chair which seats 1. Desk with lamp and office chair. TV in both living room and bedroom area. Service at the lobby were friendly. Breakfast is standard Hilton free breakfast so pretty much on par with Hampton Inn, Home2, etc. It's good but don't expect anything crazy! I did like that they had a breakfast menu at the hotel living room which was nice, I haven't seen that before. One big complaint I have - there's only one elevator and it was not functioning 100% of the time. I was trying to get into the elevator and waited for such a long time - people getting on and off, and there were families with so many bags and suitcases waiting to go to their rooms. For a busy hotel with a close proximity to Universal, having one other elevator would definitely be better. Otherwise, great, 4/5

We stayed at the hotel 12 days. I have not been able to get a digital key on my phone. I have been promised it would be fixed and never has been. I had a silverfish bug crawl across my bed. There was music outside through the night that could be heard through the windows in the room. If you want yogurt or muffins each morning for breakfast, you will not. If you want to be able to have a beef taco for breakfast, those are always available. Or dishwasher does not run properly. When putting in the soap, there is still the powder in the bottom of the dishwasher. When calling to the front desk to get toiletries, no one answers. We tried several times, no answer. I go down stairs, and there are three people at the front desk grabbing away. My wife and daughter were at the hotel when the fire alarm goes off. My wife grabbed my daughter’s medical device and walked down five flights of stairs with my son and visually impaired daughter. When they were about to walk outside, the front desk said that it was just a test and they could go back upstairs. We had a long day at Universal with a huge cloud burst of rain. We got back to the hotel at 7:02pm. We were hoping to not get a drink but to snag a salad from the Wednesday evening reception. We were told we were too late without any compassion. All while we get in the elevator with a couple people with heaping plates full of salad, cheese, meats, and cookies headed to their rooms. I got stuck in the elevator last night with my son. We rang the bell several times, no answer. We call through the elevator call system, no answer. We go down five flights of stairs when the door finally opens to notify the front desk attendant. The front desk attendant said we just got a call about the elevator. Again, no compassion, no apologies. Lastly, we went to go to the pool. There is a lock to the outer door for everyone’s safety to go through. I noticed that someone had purposely propped the door open by activating the lock on the door to sit on the outside, so it would be prepped open to enter the hotel without a key card. I fixed the door, so that the hotel door would be locked. I told the front desk attendant and was told thank you for doing it, but she said that this happens all the time on several doors. It did not give me any comfort with my family’s security. Lastly , the windows are latch windows that do not have screens in them. My daughter was able to open the fifth floor windows to wave outside my son and I at the pool. If you have little children, you may want to ask for a first floor room. The other floors could be very dangerous to children possibly falling out the window.

The upside is that you are close to Universal Studios. That said, there are many other options that are close to the park. We spent a lot of money to be close to the park, but we will not stay at this...
