Came in today for my birthday drink. As I entered, the barista who was speaking to the customer in a rude tone says, "lady, I've already told you." Then what appears to be the manger steps in to address this customer's question. After deciding what I want to drink, I tell the barista and, after he scans, I ask, "did you use the birthday reward?" Now, I've been to plenty of Starbucks where the baristas have made mistakes, and I've made mistakes. And guess what, they corrected them without much problem. For this barista, it's different. He feels empowered to tell me what I should do next time. You've said it once. I don't need you to tell me again so I walk away. He then refunds and recharge GF's twice. Finally, he asks the manager to step in to assist. It miraculously works without her intervention. I proceed to get my drink, as he tells one of the customers who is last in line, "I've just dealt with two two very difficult customers." Now, I do not expect customer service employees to complain to other customers abt these customers' purported behavior. As I have said before, I have patronized plenty of Starbucks where changes or corrections needed to be made. Never, have I experienced such demeaning and patronizing behavior. As a mental health professional who works in the service industry with individuals of varying degrees of special needs and financial ability, I pride myself in treating all with due respect and consideration. There was two girls in the front talking very unprofessionally about another worker. I believe there names were Nicole and one that said her name was ally. I have never heard employees talking that badly. I come to this store every week and the same two girls are always saying bad things about the job and complaining about who they are working with. I have never had a positive experience with these two. Iāve have to talk to three different managers about their behaviors and nothing was done about them. I hate complaining but after 30 yes 30 min had to go to a manager and ask about them, and the "excuse" that I was given was we are short staffed and there is a delay. I understand things can happen, but if you know you are short staffed, be responsible and BEFORE you take my order and my money let me know hey the wait is 30 min, so I could walk away and not sit and wait there. Also everyone who walked in after me got their orders, so clearly there is a bigger issue here than just "short staffed".
