Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Oshkosh

1st time trying Freddies and LOVED IT!!! I got the bacon double meal with cheese curds and my wife got a double deluxe burger only with just one burger patty (thinking a double patty would be too filling). Unless you order a kid's meal burger, all the regular burgers are doubles patties. Thankfully, they are very thin "smash burger" style patties and not overly filling. We also got a 3 piece chicken tenders, to try.

The 1st thing that impressed me was how well the food was put together. You could've taken a picture and compared it to what they show on their website to advertise their food! It wasn't just quickly slapped together as quickly as possible. It was assembled with care and looked perfect. Secondly, the taste: the burger patties are pretty thin, like a smash burger. They have that caramelization on the outside that very few places are able to achieve. A full onion slice (if you don't love onions make sure to ask them, no onions) was very welcome for me. Bacon cooked perfectly. Cheese curds were cooked to order and perfect. You're given a a number is dipping sauces to choose from. The tenders were decent. Nothing overly special, but not a disappointment. Also cooked to order and came hot and crispy, with a little bit of seasoning in the mix. Dip em in ranch or any other sauce you like and you're golden. We also tried their Turtle Sundae and it was as good as any we've had before. They may not have as big a selection of flavors as a Culver's, but the taste is as good.

Staff: was very welcoming and friendly. The young lady who took out order complimented my wife on her earrings and nails (hell, I don't even do that anymore 😂), so a big shout out to that good lady for that! The rest of the staff were busy and taking care to get orders out quickly and efficiently, both to the floor and the drive thru. I didn't notice any customers looking like they've been waiting an eternity for their food. The seating/dining area was also very clean. I didn't see a single table that looked dirty, when we arrived at dinner time.

We had a great 1st experience there and will definitely come back to Freddies. The food was very tasty, the staff were very friendly, the dining area was decent (for what they had to work with, size wise), and parking was ok (once you see it's situation). I will try the drive thru next time, to see if the did quality matches that of indining, but seeing as how there were about 5 cars in that line, I'm guessing it matches the...

Tried this place for the first time last night after hearing tons of hype, but honestly left disappointed.

We pulled into the drive-thru and sat at the order intercom for a solid 5 minutes—no greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing. The car in front of us gave up and drove off, and we were about to do the same but decided to pull up to the window instead.

Turns out, the employee working the drive-thru had her headset turned off. Could’ve been an honest mistake, but considering the car in front of us left without ordering, it seems like it had been off for a while.

She was apologetic, which we appreciated, but even after placing the order at the window, service was still super slow.

The custard itself was just okay—not bad, but definitely not enough to make up for the lackluster service. Might give it one more shot in the future, but this visit...

I was greatly disappointed in our first visit here. We went through the drive thru, it wasn’t fast, but I wouldn’t say it was overly slow. It took a while though. Our fries were nowhere near fresh at all. They were warm if that when we tried them right after pulling out of the parking lot. By the time we got the few blocks home they were room temp and gross. The burgers were not hot and didn’t seem fresh off the “grill” either. Mine was just slapped together poorly and one of the pickles wasn’t even in it it was under it in the wrapper. Both of our burgers were still pink in the middle which I’m not sure how is even possible with these type of burgers that are pressed thin during cooking. I hope they improve.
