If youre looking for a detailed review: This is it.
There's a few things that I look for when visiting and ice cream shop for the first time: #1 Quality. #2 Service. #3 Atmosphere and #4 is Price. I keep price last because the first three determine if it's worth what I'm paying for. I’ll also throw in some backstory on the owners so you can get a feel for them before visiting.
Quality. I had the Coffee Chocolate Chip and Dulce de Leche Argentino Ice Cream combo served in a cup. The consistency of the ice cream was smooth with a little fluff, which is good because it gives you a better sense of the actual flavor in fewer bites. Because they’re partially a coffee shop as well, their ice cream equivalent is the REAL DEAL (not coffee-flavored but actually made of the coffee they serve). The Dulce de Leche was my absolute favorite though. It reminds me of the little caramel cubes candy but 10x better and cold 🧊. It looked and sounded so simple in theory, but the flavor is so addicting 🤤. *They have Gluten-free flavors and everything is made in house daily. Since the mastermind behind the recipe has a Gluten sensitivity, they avoid cross-contamination by cleaning their machines before each prep, focusing on the gluten-free flavors first and prep their other non-gluten-free flavors last.
Service. Samples is the name of the game. They offer to-go pint & quarter tub sizes in most flavors that are clearly marked so you can know exactly what you get. The staff was very welcoming and patient as we sampled multiple flavors, despite a line forming behind us all of a sudden. And for anyone who eats as much Ice Cream as I do: SPOONS. THEIR👏🏽SPOONS👏🏽DONT👏🏽BEND👏🏽BETWEEN👏🏽EACH👏🏽BITE 🎉🎊🎉
Atmosphere. Everything is spotless. I intently attempted to find a blemish or missed spot but was impressed to see everything very tidy and clean. Establishment is clean, well lit, the music is not too loud, the colors are vibrant, they have plenty of indoor seating, and it feels like an inviting place for the general public and CATS🐈 (see backstory for details). Between the neon lights, a couch, and the small tables they have a great back ground for high quality pictures.
Backstory. “Phoebe” is the name is of their adopted cat, who they have no shame in displaying pictures of all around their shop and welcome the public to share their own cat stories when they visit. The owner’s are Brazilian from Porto Alegre, the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. Because of their proximity to Argentina while residing in Brazil, theyre fluent and welcome any native Portuguese and Spanish speakers. The owners are husband and wife. The wife being an experienced Pastry Chef who loved the challenge of creating a great-tasting ice cream minus the exaggrated amounts of sugar a standard, packaged ice cream contains.
Price. I paid roughly $7-$8 for my order.
Overall thoughts? Already came back to introduce friends to this gold mine! Glad to have found a place that not only has great quality Ice Cream, the aesthetic to match, AND that lets me practice my Portuguese at the same...
Read moreI loved this place. I’m an ice cream fanatic, so for me to write a review a place has to impress me! The flavors were so diverse, I tried a bunch and they were all so good it was very hard to choose, they all tasted really natural and original. I got a 3 flavor dish: the pistacho which was delicious with real pistacho pieces; the Dulce de leche, oh my gosh I haven’t had such a creamy ice cream in a long time; and the chocolate rosemary, this flavor was so unique, strong and aromatic!! I really liked the combination of the 3 very distinct flavors. The customer service was great! This cute place was very nicely decorated, and they have a cat adoption awareness and cute cat merch as well. I wish I lived closer, and I’m glad I don’t, otherwise I would be coming here way too...
Read moreBest homemade ice cream and coffee cafe in northern Orlando area! I always have the same flavor in every ice cream shoppe (salted caramel) and Phoebe’s has the absolute best! The portion was generous and creamy with just the right combination of salt and caramel. Loved it. Also had some black decaf espresso which had an amazingly full flavor that complimented the ice cream. In addition, the owners provided friendly and excellent service. A bonus to their offerings are some gluten free cookies for those who have gluten allergies or sensitivities. The place is immaculate and clean, and despite my being more of a dog person the decor favoring cats is surprisingly cute. Watch out North Orlando! Phoebes is about to be the most popular ice cream and coffee cafe...
