We have eaten here several times and the food has always been just "okay". Tonight, we tried to eat here and I have never been treated so rudely or talked to in such a negative manner by a restaurant manager in my life. I assume this girl was a manager as she was in a black shirt and felt that she was empowered enough to talk to PAYING CUSTOMERS in the manner that she did. The back story is that I called ahead for a reservation (we had a party of 7) and was told the restaurant did not take reservations. Totally understandable, so I asked if they were on a wait for a party of 7. I was told that they were not on a wait. I said, "great, then we will head on over." We drive roughly 20 minutes to the restaurant (puts us there at 5:30 pm on a Saturday night) and park down the street (due to limited parking near the restaurant) and walk in the rain to go break bread at this establishment. Imagine my surprise when my father in law puts our name down on the list and the "black shirt/manager" young lady asks if we have a reservation. My father in law laughs and says well we tried to call in for one and were told you didn't take them. This "manager" snapped back at my father in law and said something to the effect that since we didn't have a reservation they could not seat us. My father in law very calmly said well why didn't you all tell us this when we called? This "manager" stood there and said that we must have misunderstood because they would never say they didn't take a reservation. Her tone and attitude were terrible. My husband spoke up and told her that didn't appreciate her tone and attitude and she argued that we were wrong. We finally said that we would just go somewhere else to eat and she said smiled and said ok. There was no one waiting to eat at this place and several tables were empty. Our party was nicely dressed and having a nice evening together until this epidode. I hope that the owners of this restaurant read these reviews and have a customer service training class for their front door staff. Our ticket would have easily been $150-$175 and we are always nice tippers because everyone in our family has waited tables at some point in our lives and appreciate the service industry. If I want to eat a nice dinner with a friendly staff, it won't be here. They gave Dick's Last Resort restaurant a run for their money tonight...
Read moreMy experience was HORRIBLE. The hostess was going to seat us in the center table and we respectfully asked for a booth. She was noticably upset and snotty. She says, Well, you will have to wait awhile to which we responded ok. though there were several booths open. The people in front of us was a party of two and were sat in a booth. We were a party of three and there of booths with no one seated in the middle of the room at a table. We were greeted by a waitress who became annoyed when I asked about the quiche. She said she had one left and had to get the order in now. I understand that but she was rushing my son and his wife for their order. She said I will be right back. My son asked about a menu item that was under the early dinner section to which she responded yes these are the only times you can order that. He wasn't asking that. He was asking if he could still order that item to which she responded to look at the menu. She threw my menu on an adjacent table and immediately left to speak to a gentleman (appeared to be flirting) at another booth for over ten minutes. She comes back and says snottily "did you figure out what you wanted yet?" My son and his wife ordered disregard her snotty comment. She brought out the food. Mine was delicious. The cook did well. She never checked on us until the end. Asked if I wanted more water to which I responded yes. She comes back around with the pitcher of water pouring it into the glass and walking at the same time to yet another single male diner thus, spilling water on me as she walked away. Never acknowledged me or nothing. The bill came and she immediately took it away when my son put down his card. I asked how much my lunch was and she responded snottily "do you need separate checks?" I responded, no I want to know how much my lunch cost." This is the first time ever I told my son please do not tip this horrible waitress. My son and his family was relocated here from being stationed in Korea and we were looking forward to trying a new place with great reviews. We watched how others (especially men who were dining alone and wondered why we were treated so horribly. Will never return and will definitely let others know of...

I had heard about Colby's and always wanted to try it. I finally had an extra night in which I had the opportunity to try Colby's and went there for dinner. Colby's has been around since 1987 and is a staple in Owensboro. Their menu has many comfort foods, American Classics, Bourbons, Cocktails, some craft beers and a whole lot more. On my visit, I tried 3 dishes and a 'Wheat' Bourbin from a local distillery. First up was a glass of Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon which set the course for my meal. My first choice of the evening was Colby's Classic Shrimp Louisianne which was Six large shrimp sautéed in cajun butter and served sizzling hot in a skillet with a side of Cheesy Garlic Bread. The shrimp were plump, juicy and full of flavour and a great starter. Next up was Colby's take on New Orleans Gumbo made with a blend of shrimp, scallops, chicken, onions, peppers, andouille sausage and rice. The 'cup' size was almost a meal itself with big chunks of andouille sausage and a palatable spice level. For my main course, I had the 8oz center-cut aged filet mignon served medium-rare with sides of mashed potatoes, brown gravy, sauteed mushrooms and veggies. The streak was a little overcooked but tender enough to be able to enjoy. The servers and the food were really good and I see why people flock to Colby's after all these years. Another great place to try when you are in the...
