As a luxury hospitality consultant who travels and trains service professionals for a living, I confidently believe my eye for service excellence is a believable one. For my very first dining experience in Owensboro, this was truly a treat.
Location is ideal, corner of the Hampton Inn, walking distance to the convention center, and convenient to the river waterfront.
I was warmly welcomed the second I walked through the revolving door. The restaurant team was genuine with greeting me and getting me seated promptly after asking if I prefer an inside or outdoor option. The decor inside was lovely but the weather today was perfect, so I chose outside.
A young man gathered and presented me with menus, and brought me to my preferred cozy corner spot said Elise will be right with you shortly.
Witnessed many tables occupied and enjoying themselves. A shaded patio, soft tasteful music playing on the speaker, views of the water and others enjoying the environment, and a gentle breeze.
Elise was the reason I decided to dine at Lure for lunch. Earlier today, I was walking the riverwalk and noticed a happy crowd on the patio. When you see both a server and guests smiling, it’s not always common to see these days.
She made me feel welcomed even as a single diner. She made great menu suggestions, was timely, kept my water full, and offered me a to go box (and a to go bag!) and invited me to stay and enjoy the weather. As an observation, she proved consistent, kind service to every table she touched.
I always say delight is in the details. She and her team seem to be excellent ambassadors of your brand.
Only suggestion I can share is add a side salad to the menu. I enjoyed the crabcake Benedict, for my personal portion size I made it into 2 meals. I would have ordered a single crab cake with a fresh side salad.
Absolutely enjoyable. I’ll be back for more next time work brings me to town.
Elise also spoke highly of the restaurant owner and share they have a few other restaurants in town. Because of this lunch experience, I would intentionally choose to return and try the other restaurants this ownership offers.
She asked me to write a review because it means a lot. Without hesitation, I’m writing in hopes this helps show love to a local owned establishment doing it right.
Wishing you all continued success. Thank you very much!

Read moreI am not a seafood person in the least! I just don't like certain types of fish. And unfortunately that seems to be the only types of fish on Lure's menu. Stick with me though because I'm about to tell you something.
Although Lure is mainly a seafood place-they have a bangin' Wagyu burger on a crispy bun with fresh lettuce and sauce. I would deign to say it is probably the best burger I've ever eaten.
Based on my experiences, I am TERRIFIED to order burgers in restaurants. I have a sort of reluctance to order burgers in regular restaurants because they're always dry, overcooked, and flavorless---the seasoning doesn't pierce to the center of those thick patties. NONE of this was the case with The Lure Wagyu Burger. Everything on the burger perfectly complimented it, from the bacon "jam" (which just tasted like an AMAZING version of ketchup that i'll never forget) to the crispy bun that you could tell was crispy (unlike some places where they toast the bun, but because the burger is so greasy and soaks into the bun it ruins the toast on the bun).
I was a bit worried because #1 Lure is located in a hotel and that usually spells bad things for a restaurant, but they were well recommended, so guys, ignore that part, and #2 the burgers were only on the lunch menu. But I called and spoke to the gentlemen there and he said we could order them anytime and told me "not to tell anyone."
I'm sorry but I'm telling. If you're not a seafood person, come and order the burger here, you won't be disappointed my friend.
Oh and did I mention you can add CBD oil here to ANY drink (even soda) for just $3? Yeah that's neat.
edit Also just want to add that my boyfriend hates when restaurants add their own seasoning to fries because when they do it wrong its so so so so so so so wrong, and he often wishes he was just eating frozen fries, but he loved Lure's seasoned fries....
Read moreI worked here and was fired when I had bronchitis. They knew I was uncertain of how often I may or may not need a wheelchair especially for going home rather than standing to do salad prep; when I asked to come in with it after feeling weak from additional illness, I was met with the response that I was too sick. I went in person and was told that I was fired for not coming in when I had stayed in contact with Marcus about going to the doctor and being released from involuntarily quarantine at a shelter. I even helped them find new employees.
Later, I ran into the taller/more robust manager of the Lure while he was donating pizza at Kendall Perkins Park and he proceeded to lie and publicly sneer and humiliate me rather than being honest and accountable about not asking for a doctor's sick note and discriminating against the disabled. Plenty of nice people work here, but I hope they've re-evaluated those in management.
I worked at Taco bell and I did what I could to provide customer service from the window, in part, because I am more limited with walking than I am standing in one place. I just wanted to see if I could work again and The Lure did not give me opportunities like Taco Bell did. I shouldn't have to just be endured and tolerated when I am capable of providing excellent communication skills and my body is more co-operative than not. I'm not wheelchair bound anymore luckily. Taco Bell made accomodations for me and I had to eventually quit for several personal reasons. The Lure could have made accomodations for certain disabilities, but at this point in time they did not choose that for me. A simple question for a doctor's note shouldn't be considered an accomodation rather than a lack of...
