I visited Oxford, the Miami Campus, and the old Nike Missile location while on a trip "home" from Oklahoma.. I asked a friend where I should go for a beer that was "off campus," and Gaslight was his recommendation.. The Pros.. The service was top-notch.. My server, Elaina, was training a young man as she made her rounds. She was very polite, knowledgeable about the menu as it related to my questions, and was attentive during my entire visit.. She had at least two other tables and seemed to manage them with equal care and attentiveness.. Gaslight offers Peroni, an Italian Lager.. Both bottles I received were wonderfully cold and refreshing.. The Atomic BBQ wing sauce.. It's just enough heat 🔥 and just enough sweet in a perfect balance.. A great sauce for wings.. A military discount.. I didn't get the itemized receipt back, but imagine it was 10% off my food item, which isn't a deal breaker for me, personally, but a nice offering.. The Single Con.. The traditional wings were a bit disappointing.. They were what I would expect to pull from a bag of Tyson-brand breaded chicken at home, and rather than being tossed in the Atomic BBQ sauce, it was merely drizzled on them.. That said, they had decent flavor for food service quality, run of the mill traditional, bone-in wings.. I'm a bit of a wing snob.. I try them nearly everywhere.. Some venues hit Grand Slams with them, while others don't.. All in all, Gaslight is a pleasant venue, has a bar with ample flat screen televisions for sports, and a menu with a wide variety of items to include pizzas, burgers, salads, and other entrees.. I wish them continued success in a very crowded food service market there in Oxford..

My husband and I visited the Gaslight Brewhouse for dinner tonite. It was their Wednesday special $5 off steak night, so that's what we decided on. It's an average pub type restaurant, casual and comfortable. There were tables and chairs, higher pub tables and nice private large booths. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. We began the meal with the Buffalo chicken dip with tortilla chips. It was quite plentiful and was enough for 4 people actually. The dip seemed as if it had been sitting a while and was very thick, as if cooked too long. It was a bit sour as well. The chips seemed homemade, and they were warm, but were a bit tough, and I did not like the flavor. The bourbon mule my husband ordered was very good, though. My husband chose the 12-oz ribeye and I picked the 8-oz sirloin for our entrees, both medium rare. They both came cooked properly and were tasty, although I felt the sirloin was a little tough. I felt the cost was too high though, for the sizes. However, the fries were quite good and hot as well. None of the meal needed seasoning. The steaks also came with Cajun beans, which were very tasty; but somehow I felt they were oddly paired with a steak. My husband ordered the "mini cinni" for dessert. It was vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, served on a baked layer of graham cracker, sugar and cinnamon. It was quite small, but for the $5 cost it seemed right. I would have given 3 1/2 stars, as it was at least an average experience, but that was not an option.

It was after church on a Sunday, my family and friends decided we wanted to go out to eat but didn't know where; El Burrito Loco; Patterson's Cafe... My friends had Mexican the night before and decided they didn't really want to eat it again for lunch, so we went to Patterson's Cafe and found out it was going to be a 30 minute wait for an open table, so we thought about going to El Burrito Loco, but before we even left the parking lot, my mom suggested Gaslight Brewhouse and how she had gone there for her birthday and how nice she remembered it was. So we drive the short drive around the corner, park, and go in. They seated us instantly. The employees were very kind and friendly, after sitting down our waiter cam and introduced themselves. And although the wait for food was a little longer than I was comfortable with, it wasn't bad. We finally got our food and man oh man, it was delicious! I got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, and let me tell you, it was so good I would say it was the best buffalo chicken sandwich I've ever bitten into. This sandwich was bursting with a zing I don't think you can find anywhere else. And the fries were crispy and soft in your mouth it was *crunch~smooth, I would recommend this place if your looking for something that will FILL YOU UP, the prices are a little high for a burger place and the wait time for food was a tad long, but overall, amazing place! I'm definitely going here again!

Loyal, local customer banned for requesting a mistake be corrected.

The other night I ordered the Grilled cheese (add avocado) with tomato basil bisque soup. I also requested a side of cucumber and tomato salad (in the past it's hit and miss if this adds a charge - perfectly fine either way). Please know, over many years we dine here 1-2 times a month - as can be confirmed through their loyal customer rewards.

When the meal came it had fries and no soup, I was told no charge for the fries as it was a mistake. I asked about the missing soup and was told I didn't order the soup. After I asked to still get the soup the waitress rolled her eyes and very reluctantly said "I'll go get it". A few minutes later she came back and said "we won't be bringing the soup, the menu has mistakes and you substituted the two sides for it. (Wait?- is the menu wrong? I've ordered this same meal multiple times here. I didn't substitute anything, and I didn't order the fries.) Now the waitress, arguing with me about their "mistake " on the menu says she will get the manager (tone of a threat to me - not to make things right). So, I asked that she come back with manager, the "manager" comes back alone, with major attitude and tells me I made her waitress cry. Very confused, I asked how? Manager claims I yelled at her waitress (definitely did not). She also says the menu does not offer soup, so I asked to see the menu, she gets it, I point to "Grilled Cheese with generous portion of tomato basil bisque soup". Now a very aggravated "manager" says "we already told you our menu has mistakes." (Losing track of which story to believe now - we finish eating confused and without soup). A third person brings the bill, in the manner of "bouncer" - I am at this point very frustrated at our treatment - we have done nothing wrong at any point, I did request for something we paid for - never complained (Even left a tip - nothing like we normally do, but reasonable still). A forth person stops us at the door claiming to be the "actual manager". We, assuming she is about to apologize step to the side with her. She explains that she is asking we not come back. We question what is going on and try to tell her what actually happened, she cuts us off threatening to call the police - we still have yet to raise our voices or even complain in any way. She claims we were heard yelling and cussing (Did not happen) - So, I ask who has claimed this - to which a young lady very proudly raises her hand saying she heard me - false, this did not happen. So I ask "what did you here me say?" - the "manager" now says "we are not doing this, we are asking you to leave and you are banned". We do leave, honestly we have always supported this place because it's local, we have plenty other choices.

Seems like this current staff gave us a permanent solution to their...

UPDATE-- 3/8/2021--- Three people from our party got bad food poisoning.

We are typically regulars of Gaslight. We love the atmosphere along with the wonderful food. We just left the restaurant and had the worst experience.

It was in no way the waitresses fault, but the food was absolutely terrible tonight. There were a total of six of us seated at our table. It took a long time for our food to come and our drinks. We ordered three beers and when they came they were all given to the wrong person and no one knew until they had taken a drink. The others ordered water and unsweet tea. The tea was sweet.. which wasn't a huge deal. We also had ordered three burgers, one cooked well-done and two cooked medium-well. The medium-well was cooked well-done and the well-done burger was completely raw in the middle to where it was seeping blood. The burgers were so greasy that the bottom bun was soaked in grease and unable to be ate. We also ordered a side salad, twelve wings and a chicken finger entree at our table. The wings were not done at all! They were so raw in the middle that they were literally bleeding and the meat was pink. The chicken fingers didn't even come out until we got our check to leave. We are praying that no one gets food poisoning tonight! One of the people with us is pregnant too.

We brought it to our waitresses attention that the food was well undercooked. She apologized and said that it was "unacceptable" and that she would let the manager know. We were thinking that she was going to get the manager and going to tell her about our food so we sat there and waited for a little bit hoping to speak to the manager. We had already paid so we were hoping to just speak to the manager to let her know so that no one else would get undercooked food tonight. We weren't trying to get free food or not pay for our food, we just wanted the manager to know the quality food they were serving. It would have been nice to speak to someone about it! I was on my dinner break for work so we could only wait so long before we had to leave. No one came back to check on us or see what we needed... so we left.

Absolutely terrible food and service tonight!! I really wish we would have gotten a picture to prove what we were...
