The food is impeccable. The music used to sometimes be a bit loud but recently it has been better. The staff are open to customization, which is great. You can, for example, order a dish that commonly does not have paneer cheese with paneer cheese. Those on a salt-restricted diet should be cautious with Indian food, especially from restaurants, because it does tend to be salty, as curries in particular only taste their best when there is quite a bit of salt. Everything is pretty salty but that is to be expected because restaurants want to maximize flavor to satisfy their customers.
The only dish I don't recommend is the saag because it is the standard restaurant-style saag that I think is from northern India. I don't like Krishna's saag either. I definitely prefer the southern India saag dishes. They generally have brighter green very finely puréed spinach and are not so heavy. They also use a different spice mix, lighter oil, and unfried paneer. I think they use mustard seeds and caraway in the southern type. Every other dish I have had here, though, I can strongly recommend.
Oxford is very fortunate to have such an excellent Indian restaurant. I have been to many of them in many places and this one is truly excellent. I particularly recommend the roti and garlic naan from the breads, the paneer chili, the ginger chicken, and — if you're feeling up to something very rich and heavy — the chicken makhani. You can even have paneer or vegetables added to that for more variety. Many Indian restaurants don't let you...
Read moreIndian food isn't my favorite in the world. I love Indian spices and flavors, but the rich creaminess of curry and tikka masala isn't for me. I always order biryani from here, along with one or two naans.
The flavors are absolutely incredible, boldly spicy and seasoned to perfection, always cooked correctly, as well. I also enjoy that their dishes aren't 'white people spicy', as I like to say. If you order a hot and spicy naan, that thing is spicy. It's nice.
I usually do carry-out, but I think this place is better suited to date nights or family outings. The prices are a bit high, until you receive your food and realize that they've just served you what feels like two whole pounds of enjoyable flavor. High prices are completely acceptable with portions this hefty and serious.
I tried this restaurant on a whim - I hope this does not come across as offensive, but when it first opened, I saw massive amounts of Indian/Pakistani people coming in and out all day, and I felt like that was a good sign. When I first tried it, I was the only white guy in sight. And lo and behold - the food was delicious. From what I've heard talking to Indian people in town, a lot of the dishes are fairly authentic too, with some exceptions. I don't know enough about Indian cuisine to comment on that, but it's worth noting.
I really, really recommend this place. Especially if you like spicy food. I know it's stereotypical to know Indian foods for its spiciness, but I love spice, and they certainly did not...

I’m so glad I came, the ambiance of the resturant is amazing, they have great seating and decor. I tried the chicken makhani, garlic naan, mango lassi and samosa! The garlic naan was the BEST one i’ve tried in so long, it was so big and full of so so much flavor. I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area it is seriously...
