Went to THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY OXNARD for Sunday dinner & enjoyed our food until our waitress (Karie, Kelly, prob Karen a blond Caucasian woman too old to be wearing pigtails) made a scene in front of us & other patrons by yelling out that she couldn’t serve our 26 yo nephew wine because he had no documentation proving that he was legally in this country.
Before her embarrassing and appalling outburst, she tried to explain that she & the restaurant could not legally serve alcohol without proper identification, which we clearly understood. Our nephew only had his tourist visa on him in that moment as he had left his passport at our home. She must have been having a rough day or annoyed that we earlier interrupted her asinine conversation about green hair dye with the table across from us, because she kept rambling on that without documentation like a U.S. passport or drivers license, she couldn’t accept any other form of identification that our nephew had. I don’t think she appreciated that we pointed out that he is a tourist & why would he therefore have a U.S. drivers license or U.S. passport. At this point her tone was very pointed & was insinuating that our nephew was here illegally.
She must have noticed that she was digging herself into a deeper hole & went to grab an on duty manager, whom by the way was no better at understanding the situation and kept reiterating what our pigtailed Karen could not articulate. This “manager” nonchalantly brushed us off as if we were merely complaining about a cold dish. We weren’t going to sit there and go back and forth with her because it seemed pointless. We weren’t even upset about the wine, but about the way we were just ridiculed and made to seem less than by someone who is supposed to provide customer service.
Ten minutes to go by and Karen with the pigtails makes it a point to discuss the situation that had just happened with the waitress she had temporarily covered (whom was also rude towards us when we first sat down) and in plain view of us. She made an already uncomfortable awkward situation that we were trying to get away from even worse. Our 1st rude waitress took her sweet time in bringing us our check & returning with our change. Too add insult to injury, she sarcastically wished us a good night in Spanish as to mock us.
Sad to say we will not be returning to Cheesecake Factory and will let everyone we know that “illegals” will not be served alcohol at this...
Read more09/28/24: they've raised their prices in the past couple years. Portions shrunk and worse, the bang bang chicken and shrimp that I love and ordered today consisted mostly rice and barely any protein or even sauce which was really disappointing, not worth it at all for $26! . . . Post-Covid: We've been doing a lot of takeouts from here by placing orders through their website. Took advantage of their promo when they offered $15 for every $50 gift card purchase which I thought was a great deal. Pickup process can be a bit of a hassle since parking is always taken in the front and depending on time, it could get congested. Best to park in the back and walk to pickup food. I've tried curbside pickup and let's just say it'll be less frustrating to just walk in to pickup the order. I usually pick up a bit later than estimated to give them extra time to prepare because they can get busy, depending on what we order, food can tend to get soggy by the time we eat. They always include bread+butter in every order which is always a great incentive 👍👍 . . . . . Pre-Covid: My first time at cheesecake factory, was here on Sat afternoon after our movie. Place was buzzing for sure but got seated almost right away.
Dalton our server was a gem, kept us happy with fresh bread and that sweet butter. Food came out timely and wow the bang bang chicken and shrimp blew me away! My husband loved his chicken marsala, I was more into the mashed potatoes with mushroom, another wow from me!
After all that bread, I could only finish half but cheesecake factory are also notorious for big portions, not complaining here!
Very happy with service (checked on us, made sure our glasses are filled), quality, taste and of course portion of food. Might be our new fave place in Oxnard! Even though we were stuffed, we got a slice of mango cheesecake to...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I came here for her birthday celebration tonight since we had great experience with other friends at another Cheesecake Factory, unfortunately not tonight at this one. We were led to a small table without well cleaning(spilled water and crumbs from previous customers apparently), we thought perhaps they’re too busy to clean at this moment so they definitely figure it out later. After sitting there about 15 minutes, the lady came to us for a quick order then left, and couple minutes later the table was still dirty. All I have to do is to request actively another gentleman to clean it and he even said “shoot, did they really bring you to this?” During the meal, I tried to handed over the finished plate and teapot to another lady since our table is too small and not enough space for our meals, she was just standing there and watching me doing all this jobs for them, and she finally took the stuff from me until I really asked her to take it. My girlfriend and I totally understand each individual has his or her limitation on the job, but there’s no proactiveness and attitude at all. Hence, there’s another disappointed point, the lady came to ask whether we need to go boxes for our food. Seriously?! We merely had our food around 10 minutes, and it was just 8ish not even 9(it closes on 10). Why we have to eat so uncomfortably like this for birthday celebration tonight? Tbh I have no idea about it, but obviously there’s no management at all, and certain individual is lacking in attitude to the job. This was our first time birthday celebration at Cheesecake Factory and might become our last time visit to Cheesecake Factory based on the experience this time. Hate to say this, but highly not recommend others to visit here according to our terrible birthday...
