I love Longhorn. I work at a competing steakhouse and still come to Longhorn.
My issue has nothing to do with food. The food was amazing.
Myself and my 3 year old went on Friday for lunch. I got the 9oz Parm Crusted Chicken ($12.99) and added a cup of soup ($2.99) for a total of let's say $16
Everything was delicious.
When my bill came I was charged $15.99 for the 9 oz chicken and $1.99 for the soup. For a total of $18.
$2 more than the prices listed on the lunch menu. My server was super busy and my 3 year old was at the end of her patience with sitting still so I put cash down and got ready to leave.
As I was leaving I passed a cubby where they keep extra menus and looked at it. The price for my lunch, according to the lunch menu, clearly listed prices that would total $16.
I asked the hostess, who was wearing a certified trainer shirt, why there was a discrepancy between the menu pricing and my actual bill. She basically shrugged and said "sometimes the servers do that"
What?!?!?!
She said usually (the use of the word usually is what sent me over the edge)it is to help the customer out and make the bill cheaper by absorbing the cost of a premium side. I pointed out that it in fact it made my bill cost more and that I was basically scammed out of money. She shrugged gave a half hearted apology and said again usually they manipulate the bill like this to "help" guests.
I know that it is only $2 and that it has no great impact on my life however if this individual and this company are so comfortable with manipulating checks and pricing in this manner then I am grateful that I paid cash and did not give them access to a credit card.
I feel like I can no longer trust this company nor its staff to behave in a manner befitting a establishment that relies on the trust between the guest and the server to have a mutually beneficial outcome. I left an $8 tip on a $22 check thinking it was an honest mistake just for the host to basically say they scam people all the time, sorry you noticed.

Read moreFor individuals concerned about healthy eating proportion control ... this is the restaurant for you ... you will not overeat !!! Which is great if your on a diet too !!! The staff is hospitable and works together as a team ... for instance, if one is busy and you've asked for salt and pepper after your steak was served ... another team member can be asked if your waiter is busy and your food is sitting getting cold. COVID has impacted the handling of items generally accessible for use on restaurant tables. These times are so challenging and it is interesting to see how different restaurants have risen to the challenge ... trying to provide service and survive the financial blow. I did experience a wonderful highlight to my experience ... one I would have never imagined. It took place in their "clean" woman's restroom. As I was washing my hands, an employee entered to empty the large trash receptacle and wipe down counters, etc. She was a young girl with smiling bright eyes and probably a gorgeous smile but unfortunately I could not see it being covered by 'The Mask'. She made light of her chore ... to which I replied, " I hear you, I've been there too ... starting at the age of 11" , recalling my first job for money as a neighbor's babysitter. She then shared with me how appreciative and how she wished she could go back to having everything provided for her. Now that she has her own job ... her Grandmother has her buying her own sundries, soap, shampoo, toothpaste ... "AND THOSE ARE SO EXPENSIVE !!!" ... "But I'm doing it!" I laughed and said, "Welcome to 'Adulting', I bet your Grandmother is extremely pleased !!!" She thought for a moment and agreed saying, " Yes ... I guess if I learn how to budget to buy these things first, it will help me as I get older". More was shared ... but all the Mothers and Grandmothers out there 'get the point'. Thank Longhorn Steakhouse for affording an opportunity for our "NEXT" thriving CEO !!! She'll...
Read moreI dined at LongHorn steakhouse for the first time yesterday. I called to make a reservation for a party of 6, but was advised to just call about 1 hour ahead. My party and I were there to celebrate my son's 12th birthday. I thought this would be the perfect place to satisfy his love for steak! We were seated very promptly by a pleasant host team, and our table was nice, ambiance was great! My son was excited to see steak and shrimp together, his new loves! For the most part, the food was great. However, my brother in law ordered his steak (The LongHorn) rare, but it was medium, just like mine. He was disappointed but refrained from sending it back just in honor of his nephew. The other slight disappointment was the steak and lobster tail that my other son ordered; It looked tiny, compared to what the menu images depict. Having mentioned the negative, I want talk about our server, Sean. HE WAS PHENOMENAL! Sean is the reason we did not have a problem with the few minor things that were not right. Sean was super pleasant, he made great suggestions, explained things well, and was very nice to speak with. Sean went out of his way to make the birthday boy feel special. He got my son a complimentary dessert and even had other staff members help us sing "Happy Birthday" to him. I would like the LongHorn leadership to know that you have made a friend in us. We have just relocated to the area from Maryland and were so impressed by the level of service. Please convey our sincerest gratitude to Sean for making my son's evening. He is usually not impressed by much (LOL) but has not stopped stating how much enjoyed how Sean looked out for him! Thank you, Long Horn Steak House, (Donald Ross Rd, Palm...
