At first, I thought I and my family were in to receive a great experience due to the authentic Mexican decor, aside from the crowded and corralled patio of limited seating until time to order which I felt rushed by our server to make a quick decision of menu choices. I ordered my item and specifically noted to the waitress, "no guacamole, please," due to my allergy to avocado. When our food arrive the portions were a bit small and it appeared to be a mix-up on our order, which I find not uncommon at most restaurants. As I began eating my Chili Verde burrito which tasted of overly cured meat (too salty) and lacked that wholesome flavor, I noticed a odd taste that was not to my liking or my body's. With further examination, I noticed the one ingredient I requested NOT to be in my meal choice. When brought to the attention of the waitress she seemed a little "put out," but immediately replaced with a "fresh" burrito in half the time of our first order (which I also thought was odd). Immediately after the first bite, I tasted the avocado again in the second burrito. I bring the attention to the server, who quickly brushes me off to the manager on duty. The cook is alerted to state there must be a mistake because she, "made it" herself and assured there was no avocado, when clearly the evidence shown otherwise. Though the manger offered to exchange the item and remove from the bill, the staff's lack of concern, as if I was just being a "difficult" customer had already left a distaste of their service with me and with a dispelled appetite, I wanted no more to do with them. They were more concern with whether I was truthful of my statement than the fact that I could have fallen dead from a severe allergy due to their carelessness. This place is a super NO for anyone that may have concern for their health and wellbeing or looking for a great guest experience. Two thumbs down (...three, i I had another hand). On a scale of 1 to 5...
Read moreCasa Luna is a Palm Desert gem! Shiny bright and perfectly clean, the cheerful interior finishes of this smallish strip center restaurant are the perfect staging for a joyful, Mexican fiesta of food! Our perfect service started with a warm welcome and delightful cocktails - especially the bright flavored skinny margarita, the fresh pop of lime juice front and center with none of the syrup-heaviness. Delicious salsas and fresh fried tortilla chips (who goes to that much trouble these days?!!!) were served immediately for us to enjoy with our cocktail. But this cafe's claim to a BEST Palm Desert Eats status is the Perfectly Delicious Mexican fare. We had a variety of perfectly prepared dishes - see images below (I'm sure the team at Casa Luna will be glad to connect the dots to each menu item you see in these pictures). Every dish and side was perfectly seasoned, prepared, and served with accompaniments that elevated our dining experience. Our biggest happy flavor surprise was the Enchilada a la tampiqueña, "delicious combination of a mole-cheese enchilada with marinated charbroiled beef" with homemade guacamole. That steak is a riot of perfect flavors and the mole' may be this restaurants greatest claim to fame. Casa Luna's prices are in line with most casual restaurants in Palm Desert - our dinner for four (sans cocktails) came in ~$100. The food and service and the vibe at Casa Luna make it a perfect place for couples, groups, and I think it would be a super-fun place to book for large groups. The staff at Casa Luna certainly have what it takes to...
Read moreI was wowed by this place, I was staying in Cathedral City and driving to Palm Springs every night for dinner, saw a nice one to go. And wife saw this place with pretty good reviews so we went, only like 10 mile drive but I know the area and the drive is smooth thru the 111. We get there and I was like worried because it's in a shopping center next to Old Navy, Marshalls, etc. The outside patio was full which was a good feeling. Got in right away service was very friendly. Ate inside. Restaurant is pretty nice for being in a shopping. Order my margarita, pretty good and strong like I like them. Watched the food go by and looked good and smelled really good. Order the Botana Los Cabos, which is a mix ceviche, this thing was big, 4 people can easily dig in in. Really good. Wife order the Filete Chipotle, really good fish topped with shrimps octopus, topped with the Chipotle sauce, taste was amazing, smokey, a little spicy for out taste since we don't eat much spicy but tasty. I had the 7 Mares which is a seafood mix soup. It had so much seafood and the soup was delicious. We live in San Diego and have Tijuana next to us and we can go eat fresh seafood anytime. This place was fresh. This bis what some people call whole in the wall, my secret spot, or like in south americe we say... Una picada. Definitely recommend the drive even if you are in Palm Springs, worth the Monty which saves us over 50% from the restaurant we a were planning on going in downtown Palms Springs. Take the drive you won't be...
