I will preface this with, it’s mid July and staffing is reduced most everywhere because its low season We do like the low foot traffic this time of year. We were seated promptly and only two other tables, now 3 & a couple at the bar. First time visit and we were wowed with the cocktail menu and I don’t drink any longer, but if I did this would be my go to bar. Tropical drinks galore, two colorful pages of nothing but amazing cocktails to include some great classics. We were promptly given chips & salsa, and our waitress Karen came along to get our beverage & food order. I was wowed again by the extensive menu, some great traditional classic entrees, every kind of burrito & taco, including beef birria, tostadas, tortas, a variety of soup, seafood, molcajete, salad, appetizers etc. etc. etc. They also serve breakfast, more great options for the a.m. people. The food was very good, I had tacos dorado w shredded beef, and a beef tostada. My son had an el pastor burrito & two bottled beers, Ice tea for me & we shared a deep fried cheese cake for dessert and 2 cups of coffee. $63 WHAT? I had to double check to be certain she didn't forget something. Nope everything accounted for! Let me add, there was a flow of people after 7 pm that did not end. 7 tables all two tops & 1 on patio, then a party of 12 people rolled in. Only one waitress, a hostess, a food runner, a bartender and a lady who seemed to be filling in all the gaps. Karen was waiting tables, in the kitchen, behind the bar and where ever she needed to be. All the while cool calm collected. She had a GREAT team, all great attitudes and very professional behind her and they all moved fast & efficiently. The tv screens featured multiple events, soccer, baseball, and the drag races ❣️ the music with soft great latin music had me tapping my feet & wanting to dance. I loved everything about this place down to the beautifully colorful & festive interior. Can’t wait to return for the molcajete, and fajitas, and some great Mexican soup...
Read moreI am a 57-year-old public school teacher. I was on my way to Subway to get a couple of sandwiches when I spotted this quaint Mexican-food patio... with misters. I decided to go in and check out the menu. (My husband was at Costco and would be meeting me there.) I planned to order the peppers stuffed with shrimp to take to my 81-year-old mom in addition to the fish tacos plate... and something for my husband. Well, a group of five men were also sitting on the patio, speaking in extremely high-volume voices, punctuated with an extreme overuse of expletives in every sentence. They were drinking pitchers of what seems like Pale Ale. I quietly approached them, waiting for them to stop yelling, and when all noticed that I was standing there, I proceeded to request politely that they tone it down and please curb the profanity. Well, did that set them off!
The men (4 of the 5--one remained silent, likely ashamed) were outraged and began ripping me to pieces verbally with abusive language. These were 30 to 40-year-old men. I was "an effing this" and "an effing that." "This is a public patio," and I "have no right to request that they lower their volume or change their" verbiage. (Well, actually they didn't have that high-level verbiage.) One of them actually threw a whole class of pale ale at my feet, and I was wearing authentic Birkenstocks--expensive shoes. Luckily, I took a step back just in time. But that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I called 9-1-1.
A petite waitress with double braids kicked me out of the patio because, apparently I hadn't yet ordered anything, and the "gentlemen" had ordered at least $100 worth of beer. I was shocked. Luckily, when the sheriffs arrived, they ascertained that there was a videotape of the entire incident.
This is DEFINITELY not the type of restaurant establishment at which you can relax and enjoy a nice patio meal.
The owner of this triple-location restaurant should be aware of this type of incident. I deserve an apology.... from...
Read moreBeen coming with my partner a few times here and there and I would say. It was one the saddest and disappointing visits we had.
We arrive 2 hours before closing, which we know its not a lot of time but still didnt feel to late. The staff was super dismissed and seem more focused on closing down and continuing their conversation than focusing on the patrons dining, and we where the only other table. ( I understand that closing down is needed and trust me, I would do the same, except ignore the patrons dinning).
I order the Bistec a la ranchera and my partner order the Chiles gueritos stuffed with Shrimp. Sad to say the Shrimp was not cleaned at all! If you shrimp you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I had to flag down a staff member and tell them if they could bring us a menu because the shrimp was not cleaned properly to which the staff responded with: " You don't need to clean shrimp, thats how it is". I was surprised of how dismissive they were towards us and our concerns and I didnt argue or anything, We simply asked for it to be sent back and to bring the menu, but at that point our appetite was gone, and we simply asked for the check and left.
Only one bad experience so far, but its was enough to make us think twice before about...
