While the food was good and plentiful, the service was not.
Our party requested separate checks for those in our group. This was to make our lives easier when paying and leaving. The waiter/manager refused.
When it was time to pay, we all took out our credit cards. The waiter/manager made a huge scene. We were not asking for anything out of the ordinary. We wanted our checks.
He then came back with paper and pencil to recap what each of us had. If he had done this in the first place, we would have been out of the restaurant quick, making our seats readily available to others during lunch.
Each of us were extremely unhappy with the waiter/manager. When I asked for the owner, I was told he lived in Texas.
Our group converged in the parking lot talking about what just happened. We all were happy with the food, but service greatly lacked. To make matters worse, one in our party had his truffle fries taken without him being asked. He was still eating them (we all were). They made this right, but brought the wrong size.
Not sure if we will come back. I don't even know if this guy was a manager. He certainly did not act like one. I'm going to think long and hard before returning. This should have been a great experience, but the wait staff blew...
Read moreI had the Chicken Piccata, and it was delicious. The only disappointment I had was that the two chicken breasts (which looked like halves of a single chicken breast split in half) were too small. However, the server (who was also the bartender, as we were seated at the bar) recognized this and asked me what I thought about the chicken. I was surprised by his question, as I hadn't complained about it. I told him that there were a lot of sides with the tiny chicken. He agreed and thanked me for the feedback, saying he would share it with the kitchen crew. After dinner, the same bartender asked if he could make it up to me with a free dessert, beer, or more chicken. I declined, as I didn't want anything else, but I thought my feedback was enough to help improve the portion for future customers. Someone (I'm not sure if he was the manager) handed me the bill, apologized, and reduced the bill. The entire staff was very nice, and you could feel that they took pride in their establishment. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and will return if I ever go back to...
Read moreWe really enjoy this cafe/diner in the south downtown Palm Springs area. They have good vegetarian options on their menu, including Impossible burger patties that you can substitute on any burger on their menu or add to a salad for protein, etc. Service has been very good, friendly, and attentive. They have a huge menu (probably the best reason to come here) with plenty of vegetarian options, and the food is always very good. Their burgers are absolutely huge and portions are fairly large, so be prepared to get more food than anticipated. They have just about everything on their menu to satisfy any preference, including soup, salads, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, steaks, seafood, and a large selection of appetizers, as well as other choices. They have good indoor and outdoor seating, and bar seating, also. They have a full bar and plenty of good beers on tap. Prices are a bit higher than some other similar restaurants in the area, but still very reasonable for a restaurant in the downtown area. We will keep returning...
