The place does not seem very clean. The floor when you walk on it is very sticky. The waitress was not particularly friendly in the beginning. So the initial feeling in the beginning was me debating if I should just leave or not.
After perusing the menu, I ordered the roll with the tempura shrimp and avocado.
(I did not feel comfortable ordering raw fish due to the lack of cleanliness)
I ordered an appetiser of tempura shrimp. The roll came out before the appetiser! It looked very unappealing because it was drenched in that spicy mayo sauce. I literally had to scrape the mayo off the roll, I also had to try wipe it off with the napkin, which the waitress saw me doing and she didn’t even try to do something about it. It was so much mayo that while trying to wipe the mayo sauce off it slipped out and fell on the floor. When the waitress finally came over to see if everything was ok, I told her it was so much mayo sauce on the roll making it very slippery it fell on the floor. She said well next time we can order ‘light’ mayo!!! Really!?! Next time ?!? I think whoever made that roll doesn’t understand the concept of sushi and just wanted to make the sushi like an American sub with a bunch of mayonaise.
On a positive note the shrimp tempura and assorted vegetables were good. The roll was ruined with all the spicy mayo sauce on it. I felt it was a waste of money. Not a particularly enjoyable eating experience and disappointed with the lack of cleanliness of the place. Especially if they understand more of Japanese culture they would realise how important that is to the ambiance of a...
Read moreI'm sorry for the people that like this place. This location made me pass a very unpleasant moment right in New Year's Eve. We ordered take out from here, hoping their fried rice and orange chicken would be a good option for dinner. Now, keep in mind that my first choice for dinner wasn't this place, but the Gold China down the road close by, but unfortunately that place closed down. Having to wait over an hour for the food to be ready (I can understand the time because it was New Year's Eve) when I finally got the food and brought it home the disappointment was big when the special fried rice was not only a small plate for the amount of money paid for it, but it didn't even looked like fried rice, but rather light brown rice with raw vegetables, and big chunks of chicken and shrimp on top, as if it was done completely separate from the rice (if it was Gold China, the special fried rice would've been bigger and actually look like fried rice). The orange chicken was just a few chicken pieces bathed in orange sauce and two pieces of orange on top, and the typical white rice that always comes when you order Chinese food. The taste was below average, at least the orange chicken taste was somewhat ok, but it wasn't enough to cover the rip off I felt it was this take out. First and last time I eat here, small portions for the price they offer, and if you can't properly do a Chinese fried rice then don't offer it...
Read moreThis rating is based on customer service. Unfortunately I won’t be dining again @Sushimaki, after asking for one extra set of condiments (eel sauce and spicy mayo) I was told NO YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. My question was why??? How is it possible that if I dine in I can ask fo as much sauce as I want, the manager replied is policy and there is a cost for the container and to prepare it!there is cost to it!!! But if you dine in we would gladly give it to the costumer. I asked again, I’m not asking for 10 sets just asking for an extra pair. She still said NO. Again they packed the food with 3 soy sauce packages each meal and 4 chop sticks. Makes no sense...... it saddens to me that the place rather lose a costumer over a pair of condiments and even worse that a manager wont cater to take out customers instead only if you dine in. So sushi maki policy don’t care about costumer service or cater to take out customers. instead of the manager work w the customer, she explained to me how the competition charge for condiments. -gave me explanation how is policy and there’s cost to extra condiments for take out customers. explain to me how all take out customers leave unhappy because of the same reason , but keep failing to fix the problem or addressed it to prevent...
