Always on the lookout for new local sushi, I’m glad we tried Tsukino. With snowbird season starting, we’ve been going out midweek when it’s less busy. We prefer sitting at the sushi bar—when the chefs have time to chat, you learn a lot about the menu (and sometimes everything else). This Thursday night, it paid off. Conveniently located just two minutes from Starbucks by the Ellenton Premium Outlet, Tsukino is easy to find. A few other early diners mentioned it fills up quickly on weekends. Our sushi chef, Kelly, was enthusiastic about the evening’s specials, and our server, Ivey, was attentive. We even had a quick hello from an owner, Reagan. If you like trying sushi you don’t often see elsewhere, this is your spot. Tsukino brings in premium items like Otoro (tuna belly), A5 Wagyu, chutoro, yellowtail belly, salmon belly, Japanese uni, and toro kama (tuna collar). These sell out fast—go early! The complimentary appetizer from the sushi bar was a pleasant surprise: eel with avocado and edamame over rice. I don’t usually care for eel, but this was soft without being chewy. And the fried salmon skin chips—a must-try. Some pieces still had a touch of salmon on them, a little bonus bite. I also appreciate that they don’t sauce the sweet shrimp heads, keeping them crisp instead of soggy. The roe nigiri was exceptionally fresh, with generous servings literally spilling over the sides. A special roll prepared by Kelly (the name escapes me) was excellent, topped with perfectly marinated onions. The wasabi even had the texture of fresh root. They offer a nice selection of beer and sake, plus hot dishes that looked and smelled fantastic. Open for lunch and dinner (closed Sunday and Monday), Tsukino is an inspired choice—whether you’re out for sushi night or taking a break from the outlet shops.

This place is hands-down one of the best sushi spots I’ve ever been to! The fish was incredibly fresh, the rolls were beautifully made, and every bite had so much flavor. The menu had a great variety—whether you’re into classics like salmon nigiri or creative specialty rolls, there’s something for everyone. On top of the amazing food, the service was just as impressive. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely made the dining experience feel special. The atmosphere was clean, modern, and welcoming—perfect for a casual dinner or even a date night. I took my mom and boyfriend out for a get together and it was great! They Recently went under new management 2 years ago, and really upped the game in regards to service and atmosphere! I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. If you love sushi. The chef Kody, was absolutely amazing and even offered us to try new dishes that we had never had before and cared about our feedback. 10/10 recommend.

Let me start by saying that I RARELY write reviews. The day that we stopped in to eat it was about 5pm. I am writing this review at 6am the next day and we are still raving about how good the food was. The staff was awesome. The chef at the sushi bar named Kelly was GREAT! There was another "white" gentleman (sorry I don't know his name) who helped us at the sushi bar. He informed me that I could substitute fried white fish for the tempura shrimp that was in the volcano roll. That was very helpful since I don't eat shrimp. We had the volcano roll, imperial roll, and ring of fire roll. The rolls looked great and tasted even better. Honestly, it's the best sushi I have ever had. Then, Kelly gave us a sample of the eel. It was crazy good also. It's not often I try to tip the chef and this was one of those times. Kelly refused the tip though. They make sushi like they love it and I appreciate that. Wow! I'll be back very soon.

If you're a sushi lover, Tsukino Sushi is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you step in, you're enveloped by a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for the incredible culinary experience to come.

The menu is packed with both traditional and creative rolls that showcase fresh, high-quality ingredients. The sashimi practically melts in your mouth, and each piece is crafted with the kind of care you’d expect at a top-tier sushi bar. Standouts include their signature rolls, which combine flavors in unexpected but delicious ways. The "Tsukino Special Roll," for example, brings together a perfect balance of textures and flavors with a hint of citrus that leaves you craving more.

The chefs at Tsukino are true artisans, each dish beautifully plated like a work of art. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to offer recommendations and even customize orders to your taste. Every detail, from the delicate presentation to the attentive service, enhances the overall experience.

Beyond sushi, Tsukino offers a wide range of appetizers and hot dishes that add depth to the menu—don’t miss the miso-marinated black cod or the tempura, both of which are phenomenal. They also have an impressive selection of sake to pair with your meal, adding an authentic touch to the dining experience.

Overall, Tsukino Sushi strikes a perfect balance between authenticity and innovation, making it the ideal spot for both sushi purists and those looking for something unique. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just indulging in an evening out, Tsukino Sushi will exceed your...
