Gave this a shot today and was pretty disappointed mostly with it being very overpriced and secondly with the availability of side options. Read below if you want details.
Price: $15 for brisket that included two thin slices (.5lb pound) seems pretty dang high. This means they would receive $600 on a 20lb brisket that cost $80 bucks at the store assuming the owner doesn’t get a discount on bulk orders. Obviously you gotta make money but that’s kind of absurd. $15 for the amount of meat you get is more then I would pay for steak. $9 for a chicken breast and wing is pretty expensive too, and $10 for two sides coleslaw and baked beans meaning $5 per side… I guess when your charging that much for the main course you get to charge more for the sides.
Taste: the brisket was good and so was the chicken. Didn’t have any issues with it but it was hard to enjoy after feeling like you just got ripped off at the counter. The coleslaw was bland and the baked beans had good flavor but the beans texture seemed almost under done or maybe over done, not sure, the texture was off for sure. I’m being pretty critical because with the prices that are being charged I would expect the food to be pretty great. Had it been half the amount I wouldn’t care nearly as much.
Food options: very limited on the sides that are available. Check before you go to see if you like them.
Service: customer service was okay. Nothing amazing but not rude either. We said we had never been here before and the lady cutting the meat said okay. All good though. You order at the counter and then pay and walk your food to your table and throw away your trash at the end. Pretty typical for a BBQ place so it was expected. But still expect for the nice little IPad that you pay on to have a big display of please tip us money and the lady to give a passive comment about it’s gonna ask you a question and then look at you to see what you pressed.
Overall very underwhelming and I will not be returning. Thanks for trying but mostly just seems like they are trying harder to make a buck then provide a good service to our...
Read moreWe stopped by for lunch yesterday and were excited to try this place out. The food looked and smelled amazing, and the lady working there serving the food was super friendly. However, we ended up leaving because we couldn't get a drink. We sat for about close to 10 minutes at the bar, and she looked directly at us and didn’t say a word. She just went about whatever it was she was doing and completely ignored us. We tried to get her attention, but still ignored. We didn't know if we were supposed to serve ourselves or if they just didn't serve drinks on Sundays. It was a bummer because we really wanted to try the pulled pork. We'll go somewhere else next time.
UPDATE: In response to your reply to my review, perhaps I was unclear, or perhaps you simply chose not to read carefully or have poor comprehension skills. As I stated, “the lady serving the food was super friendly.” That should make it obvious we went through the serving line—we are not ignorant.
What your “barista” should have done was simple: smile and say, “I’ll be with you in just a moment.” That’s basic customer service. I know this because I’ve worked in customer-facing roles likely before you were born—server, hostess, bartender, manager, trainer, and quality assurance. I know what I am talking about.
Your snide comment that I “must be a fan of one-star reviews” says more about your attitude than about me. The appropriate response to any negative review should begin with something along the lines of, “I’m sorry you had a bad experience.” Instead, you default to defensiveness. After seeing a nearly identical response to another negative review, it seems clear this is your pattern whenever someone disagrees with you. Typical. Have the business...
Read moreWent on a Friday night around 6pm. Atmosphere is great. Location and ambiance and decor is great. Love the logo, brand design, etc. Service was wonderful. Everyone nice. A trio was singing and they were good.
There is a sign when you walk in that says "Please Seat Yourself." So we did. After about 15 minutes of sitting there and no service we figured out that you have to walk to the back of the place to order and pay and then they give you the food and you take it to your table. Don't have a problem with that at all but we weren't the only ones who did what we did. Maybe the sign should read "Order in the back and then seat yourself."
The menu was limited for some reason. Didn't seem to have the meats that I see on their menu online. Other Google reviews show photos of their menu board and that was covered up with another menu the night we went. The only meats that were available were sandwiches and hot links. We both had a brisket burger that was served cold with pre-melted cheese. It's like they cooked it, put it in a warmer, and then put it on a cold bun when we ordered it. Wasn't even slightly warm. No lettuce, onions, or tomato available. Just bread, meat, mayo, cheese, mustard, and BBQ sauce. It wasn't bad but would have preferred a hot burger that was freshly cooked and gooey melted cheese. We got the pickles and onions, grits, and beans as our sides. They were warm not hot but tasted good. The best thing we had was the poundcake cookies. The server said they were life changing and she was NOT wrong. Next time I'd buy a whole bucket of those!
We'll definitely be back again in the hopes that they have BBQ...
