We really enjoy Indian food, so when we came across this place, we thought we'd give it a go. The reviews were quite diverse as some people had great experiences and others had terrible experiences. Ours was the latter and I would not recommend this place.
The restaurant has a counter where you order, and off to the side it has seating for dining in. When we arrived it was not particularly busy, however there was a large family that had just ordered and the kids were running all around, even into the kitchen area. It seemed like they were relatives or something as it didn't bother the staff. This didn't bother us, other than it could be a bit dangerous. We ordered chicken tikka masala ($16), one naan ($4), a palek paneer ($16), and one drink ($3). The prices were not unreasonable... until we saw how much we got (it wasn't a lot). But more on that later.
When asked if we wanted to take out or dine in, we said dine in. We paid, got our receipt and went to sit down. We saw dishes come out and go to different tables, and we were excited (and hungry). After about 30 minutes we still had not yet received our food. At that point, we decided to check on the food and ask to have it changed to take out. When we asked the cashier, he said we had picked it up already. Uhh, what? We chose dine in and assumed it would be brought to our take like everyone else's dishes. He repeated that someone had picked up that order already. We shrugged and said we had been waiting for the food. He asked another employee (the one who took our order) and luckily he recognized us. They said they'd get the order for us.
After another 15 minutes he said the food was ready. No apology or anything, he just reiterate someone took the first order. Mistakes happen, we were fine with that. No big deal.
When we got back to the hotel and unpacked our food we were shocked with how little they gave us. The chicken tikka was really oily and the chicken was tough and barely edible. The palek paneer was really thick, bitter, and had almost no flavor. The paneer was either burnt or overcooked because it was like chewing on an eraser. The dishes did not come with rice.
To their credit, they gave us an extra naan, which was probably the best part of the meal... but for $45, this was a hard pass. I would not recommend the food, it was overpriced, the service was mediocre at best, and the whole experience was completely disappointing. I should have waited in line at Taco El Gordo next door, or even walked to McDonald's...
Read moreI ordered beef nihari, chicken karahi, and two orders of garlic naan (sold separately, not included with either entree) on July 31, 2020. The total was around fifty bucks. The woman taking my order asked how many people were eating and I replied it was just my wife and I. She commented that one order of nihari was enough for two people. I said it was okay and I would just box up any extra to go. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive. The nihari had two pieces of beef and a whole lot of oil on top. Taste was sub par. The chicken karahi had very little chicken and again, the taste was so so. The garlic naan was okay. The table was not wiped down well. The high chair was also not wiped down so the man working there wiped it down with a dry cloth. No spray disinfectant or any type of cleanser. The restroom had an odd odor. Overall, I definitely will not go back. The completely missed the mark on this day. We wanted to support a small minority-owned business on Eid day but we regretted it immensely. We were hungry again a short while after lunch because the portion size was so small. I shared my thoughts with the woman that took my order and she apologized and said she’d pass the message to the chef and owner. She also offered me a free drink, which I declined. Read moreGreat food, great dining environment but poor ethics... I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala which is $20.99 on the menu plus 1 bottled bubble tea and was charged $36 + $2 tip before I realized the price was wrong... When I asked for a receipt he declined implying they were busy, so rather than making a scene I sat down and ate. I then questioned the same cashier again about the cost and he said "no, more expensive" and gave me a water and a tea in exchange. Normally I would let this go, only a $10 difference overall but as I was walking out I saw the man laughing at me and decided to post that such business practices are considered fraud and theft because stealing from a customer is no different than anyone else stealing from you and personally, I hate theives...
The hadd punishment for theft if you got caught stealing the authorities would chop off your hand... Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "And (as for) the male thief and the female thief, cut off (from the wrist joint) their (right) hands as a recompense for that which they committed, a punishment by way of example from Allaah.
