This arcade entertainment space is located inside of the New York, New York casino and hotel in Las Vegas. We decided to come hang out here to wait for the end of the UFC fight at Coyote ugly because the cover was elevated at that time for anyone who wanted to see the fight. On the lower level of New York, New York, You will find this arcade, but there were a lot of issues there. I like to shoot pool, but the tables were not well maintained in that they were full of stains and of the two tables they had directly behind. The space were roof leaks and there were garbage bins catching water and one of the tables was unplayable with the drinks spilled on it. The playable table was well enough to have a decent game in, but the water catching bins did get in the way. If you were on a particular corner. The beer pong tables were nice enough and there was a space for you to play drunk Jenga, but overall the space seemed poorly maintained. Perhaps because of all the leaking water. It's possible I just happen to be there on a bad day, but I would have expected better, especially heading into a fight weekend in Vegas. I will say that the shuffleboard table was excellent and fun and clean and good operating condition and was probably the best thing in the arcade. I'd also noted that other patrons were telling me how difficult it was to get service and a players card to use and play the games in the arcade space. With that said, the drinks we got while in the arcade from the bar pretty good and heavy-handed with the alcohol and that is never a bad thing. Unless you're trying to manage your alcohol intake. I believe this place should be improved because it seemed that even in its condition they had a good amount of patrons who wanted to come through and were enjoying the place nonetheless, so doing well by these patrons would be a valuable...
Read moreLevel Up overall is an interesting and comfortable gaming bar to check out. There are a variety of gaming and non-gaming machines for patrons to try. And there is a bar that sells drinks at, surprise, Las Vegas Strip prices. I personally think they might be shooting themselves in the foot with the standard high Strip prices, but what do I know? I don't run a bar.
We primarily came here to try out the Zero Latency free roam VR experience. Specifically, we played the zombie survival scenario.
Free roam virtual reality, in short, is you, experiencing VR, in a real large empty room that you can walk around in virtually while you see/hear an entirely different environment through the goggles and headphones you are wearing. It costs $50 for 30 minutes of gameplay.
The concept is totally leading edge, but the execution is mediocre and does not utilize the technology to its potential. The technology is meant to create the illusion of movement through virtual environments by tricking you into thinking you are traveling hundreds or thousands of feet by virtually "snaking" you around the one real room you are in. But the scenario you are put through at Level Up's experience is basically a single room experience. You can move around the one room/space (or go up one of two elevators), but that's it. There ends up being no purpose whatsoever to move around.
So if you are an avid VR gamer or a fan of new gaming concepts, it's definitely worth trying. You can feel the potential there and it's exciting. But, if you are only casually interested in VR then this is likely a waste of $50 for you. There are more reasonably priced stationary type VR experiences around...
Read moreIt was our first time in Vegas and this was the bar we were most excited for. I've never had worse service than I did here. First we sat down for about 5 minutes and no one came, so we thought maybe we had to go up to the bar. I went up and asked and he said we can either order at the bar or a waitress will come to our table with a menu if we want food as well, so that's what we did. We sat for about 15 minutes and the waitress didn't come to our table, we saw the bartender talk to her and point at us assuming to let her know we were still waiting and she never showed up. We got a drink at the bar 20 minutes in and asked for a waitress again and a different bartender told us the table we were at was not a part of the "lounge area" where the waitress was coming around. This was extremely frustrating because they knew we were waiting for food but didn't bother to tell us that we would not be served. Once a table opened up in the lounge area we moved over and sat there, still no waitress. Over the next 20 minutes we went to both waitresses directly, TWICE, and asked for service and they still never came. I regret spending any money there, what a terrible way to spend our limited...
