Ambiance and Service: The decor is chic and cozy, with tasteful Mediterranean touches that create a warm and welcoming environment. The staff is exceptional, providing knowledgeable and friendly service that enhances the overall dining experience.
Food: The star of the show at Kaneo is undoubtedly the food, particularly their seafood and meat dishes. Each dish is a masterpiece, showcasing the rich flavors and vibrant ingredients of Mediterranean cuisine.
Lamb Chops: The lamb chops at Kaneo are nothing short of spectacular. Marinated in a blend of aromatic Mediterranean spices, the chops are grilled to perfection, achieving a delightful balance of tenderness and char. The exterior is beautifully seared, giving way to a juicy and flavorful interior that practically melts in your mouth. The seasoning is spot on, with herbs and spices that enhance the natural richness of the lamb without overpowering it. Served alongside a bed of fluffy couscous and a medley of roasted vegetables, the dish is a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The couscous, light and airy, provides a perfect counterpoint to the robust, savory lamb, while the vegetables add a touch of sweetness and freshness.
Drinks: Kaneo also offers an impressive selection of wines and cocktails. The Mediterranean wines are particularly noteworthy, providing the perfect complement to the robust flavors of the seafood and meat dishes. I especially enjoyed the house red, which was smooth and full-bodied, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Overall: Kaneo in Salt Lake City is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The combination of exceptional seafood and meat dishes, outstanding service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout choice. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Kaneo promises a dining experience that you won’t soon forget. I highly recommend it and look forward to...
Read moreWe spent a lot of time reading reviews to pick a special restaurant for a birthday lunch on a Wednesday. We were really excited about the steak freaks on the menu. Made a reservation since from the reviews we assumed the place would be busy. We were the only table there. The prices for lunch gave us sticker shock -even though we’re locals; a cocktail or a glass of wine is just as much as an entrée. We decided to stay anyhow. The steak frites were supposed to be flat iron steak and we ordered medium rare. It came out medium well, definitely wasn’t flat iron steak, no sear, no juices, no flavor! uhg! tasted like a mushy tough sirloin with no flavor whatsoever. The so-called frites were not even hand cut fries, you could get the same fries out of a bag from Walmart. SERIOUSLY the worst fries. They were cold bland and flavorless. Mind you this was a lunch plate for $26. These guys are just Faking it !!! The server was great, the atmosphere is lovely. But the prices the quantity and the quality deserve one star. Now that I’ve read more reviews that are honest I’m surprised that the owner has not responded or tried to compensate anyone or apologize. We were so disappointed. We did get a complementary baklava for dessert but it was so strange tasting we didn’t finish it between three of us. What a disappointment, I really hope the owner takes all of these reviews into consideration because this was a very sad and unsavory experience. save...
Read moreA few weeks ago, we made an advance reservation to celebrate the final evening of our ski vacation and were eagerly anticipating a memorable dinner. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table near the entrance by the stairwell. Unfortunately, with patrons frequently coming and going, we were continually exposed to cold drafts, making it quite uncomfortable.
We politely requested a different table, as we preferred not to dine with our coats on. The hostess, however, informed us that no other tables were available. Given this response, we decided to cancel our order and prepared to leave. At that moment, the manager approached and suddenly offered us an alternative table. By then, our enthusiasm had waned, and we chose to depart, feeling that the establishment’s reputation had been compromised.
It’s perplexing that a restaurant of this caliber, with entrées priced at $50 and above, would assign guests to such an unsuitable table. I recommend that management experience dining at that particular spot to understand the discomfort caused by the cold drafts and foot traffic. While a one-star rating might not reflect the chef’s culinary efforts—I trust the food is delightful—the hosting and management team should address this issue promptly. Many establishments implement solutions like temporary entrance tents or strategic seating arrangements to enhance...
