This is one of those rare times when I just can't wait to get back to the room or to my home or to my workplace to do a review on the place I just dined at. I didn't want to go to a place that I had previously visited and since I was visiting Colorado I wanted to try something that was unique to the area and I certainly found that in Homegrown Tap and Dough. I specifically picked this location because it was just a walking distance away from the hotel we were staying at and because of the reviews I found on Google. The goal was to find a unique dining experience composed of different flavors and an atmosphere that was comfortable and welcoming. I conducted research online and found that there were five locations with a sixth one on the way (Castle Rock). I looked over their menu and was impressed with the combination of ingredients used on the Homegrown pizza (basil pesto, artichokes, sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, mozzarella) and figured we try a pasta as well, the sausage and mushroom fusilli (house-made sausage, roasted mushrooms, truffle alfredo, parmesan) since the pizza only comes in a 14in size. The interior design of the restaurant is welcoming, and the staff was super friendly. Our waitress, Jackie, did a fantastic job helping us pick drinks, a spiced pear drink, and a whiskey walnut elixir ( I don't recall the exact name, but it was smooth). Jackie recommended several entrees and confirmed our choices were great picks. The pasta came out first, and it was very good. The seasoning, the texture, and the flavor made it taste authentic. My only complaint, if any, would be that it lacked that delicious creamy sauce. We were so impressed by the pasta that we deliberately chose to finish the pasta before diving into the pizza. The pizza retained its toastiness, which was impressive and did not fall apart in my hand. The sun-dried tomatoes were absolutely perfect, along with the artichokes. We did add pepperoni, but I think it would have been just as good without it. Overall, the combination of ingredients used, Jackie's friendliness and attentiveness, atmosphere, and price (approx 77 dollars and we took half of the pizza home) made this a unique experience. I would highly recommend this place when visiting Colorado. Thank you guys, you...
Read moreI kinda understand why this place reviews have been a little all over the place. I think since they’re still new. They just haven’t found their groove yet. Let’s get to the food. I took the whole family. We got two regular pizzas and two gluten free pizzas. They made sure to take the caution of our gluten allergy. The service is really great. She made sure to inform us as well. That they are short staffed and it was gonna get busy. So we understood if things took a bit longer. The two regular pizzas my dad and brother said were good. Nothing wrong with it but nothing special about it either. Dough was cook great. They said the sauce was kinda bland. I and my mom had our gluten-free pizzas. They were thin crust and cook all the way through which was appreciate. I thought their basil-pesto sauce was great. It wasn’t runny and its seasoning was perfect. My sister had the tomato sauce gnocchi. She said it was amazing. All the flavors along perfectly with it. She wasn’t a fan of the cheese bread. She said the garlic bread didn’t have enough garlic and the bread felt more like a pastry type of dough. We also had some appetizers. We had the meatball sliders and the potato fingerlings. The potato fingerlings were okay. Some were burnt so there wasn’t any potato left in them. They could have also use some salt and they gave garlic on them but you can’t taste it. I think that’s why they make a garlic drip to go on the side. It’s very strong-all the garlic definitely goes into that dipping sauce. The meatball sliders were okay. They meatballs themselves had no seasoning or just not enough but once again. The sauce that came with it was packed with it. I was the only one to have a drink. I got the sangria-since I had saw so many people saying how good it was. Good news! They are right! That sangria is one of the best I’ve had in awhile. The flavors were just so refreshing and it pair well with my meal. The atmosphere of the place is also really unique and fun. It does get crowded fast so definitely plan when you want to go. I think I would love to come back to give them another try. Once they get into a...

“We came in hungry. We left with trauma.”
We were SO excited for Homegrown Tap & Dough to open near us. We’d been to their soft launch months ago and fell hard—homemade marinara, truffle sausage pasta, a literal ski gondola in the dining room? Dreams were made. Cocktails were sipped. My toddler got fresh dough to play with. We envisioned our future here—date nights, game days, family hangs. We felt chosen.
But what started as a love story quickly became a cautionary tale.

🚨 Visit #2: The Case of the Missing Coke
I ordered a Coke three separate times. I received none.
She apologized profusely. Then… never came back. We watched an entire basketball game with delicious food and no carbonation. But fine. We’re chill. We gave it one more try.

🚨 Visit #3: Abandon all hope, ye who enter here
We came back on a Saturday at 1PM. It wasn’t busy. Two or three tables max per section.
We were seated and… abandoned. Fifteen minutes with zero service—not a greeting, not a glass of water. Just vibes and increasing toddler volume.
We tried to be patient. We tried to give the benefit of the doubt. We tried to not be the kind of people who storm out of restaurants in despair.
But after 25 minutes of sitting with our toddler’s water as our only hydration, I cracked. When a server finally approached (and had the gall to ask if we wanted anything other than water), I explained—politely but with the energy of a woman teetering on the edge of sanity—that we had been sitting unacknowledged for over 20 minutes and were leaving. She offered a free appetizer. Sis… it’s too late for snacks.
As we left, the bartender who had eyes on us the entire time suddenly became hyper-attentive and the GM ran out into the parking lot yelling to buy us lunch. But by then? It was over.
We went to Raising Cane’s. Someone stole our food there. And somehow… that experience was still so much better.

🥲 In conclusion:
Great food. Great concept. Absolutely beautiful space. But it’s not worth it when your entire nervous system collapses from neglect every time you visit.
We’ll miss the garlic bread. But not the...
