I have been wanting to try the Hatch for awhile now. My dinner, and the service were all good. I feel I had been expecting more, but I have no real negative comments. The main disappointment I had was the daily special menu area. I understand this is a smaller restaurant and they can't support a huge menu but there are multiple items I would have liked to try but were only available on a week night for instance. The dinners we tried were the Burger, and the Rotisserie chicken. First the Burger. It was really good, but came with a side of potato chips. My opinion is if your spending north of $20 for a burger potato chips for the side seem a little rudimentary. Some might love the chips but maybe an option or two would be nice, like a side salad or something more interesting. They have fingerling potatoes on the app menu maybe this would be a good side option?? This place looks really creative and my experiences with places like this is they come up with some really interesting items that can be very unique and good. The Rotisserie Chicken was good but not my favorite. The internal cook of the chicken was barely done (a little mushy for me), and the skin was not crispy as you may expect. The flavor was really good and the wood cook really came though which I enjoyed. Again the only side offered was cole slaw, which was ok, but not everyone likes cole slaw and again it seemed a little simple and unimaginative. Maybe a couple of options for the sides would be nice. Overall I will go back and try some other items, just my opinion and some feedback for the restaurant. On a side note if you love Bourbon they have a really extensive and deep collection of rarer Bourbons that are not easy to come by, and the prices were pretty reasonable for what they offered. This was a nice...
Read moreMy wife and I had one of the better dining experiences in recent memory when visiting the Hatch. First off, we could only get a somewhat late reservation, and since we were with some older family, we had called to see if they could move it earlier. The were very helpful, and a few days later automatically moved our reservation up, which was great. The ambiance is fun and comfortable, and the music was excellent. Many of the tables are high tops, which was ok for us, but a little hard for some family.
The food and drinks really stood out. The menus were interesting and well put together. They had a nice wine and beer selection, and some really good cocktails. We got the fried chicken, and it was some of the best we've had. The hot sauce is amazing. The mushroom also was incredible, as was the pork belly and a few other items. Nothing was bad, but the green beans and banana pudding were kind of basic, especially compared to everything else we had. My only complaint is that we were there at 7pm, and they were already out of the rotisserie chicken, which was what we really wanted to eat. How can you be out of your flagship item so early? The rest of the meal/experience was so good we didn't care, but really, they should not be running out so early, and it did get us off to a kind of bad start.
Luckily, this was remedied quickly by our waiter because what really made the Hatch stand out was the fantastic service. Our waiter made everyone feel very comfortable, and was attentive without being overbearing or making us feel rushed. He really was great, and again, provided some of the best service we've had in restaurants.
We will absolutely be back the The Hatch if we are ever in Paso Robles again. It was a top...
Read moreNormally I would just rave about the food and say you have to see this to believe it. But this time I'm going to have to say you have to come here to experience it. It is a unique environment. The little restaurant next door belongs to the same owner. And it is also amazing. We went there for our appetizer before coming to the hatch. I don't need to say much more than all the really good reviews are accurate and anyone who gives a negative review probably is just a negative person. The atmosphere is upbeat friendly and inviting. I would call it trendy but it had this feeling of laid back yet trendy. Kind of interesting The kitchen is just to the side of the bar and you can watch everything being done. The bar has an amazing supply of alcohol if you're one of those people who indulges. I am not However as the designated driver I can tell you that the people consuming alcohol were thoroughly pleased with the quality and quantity of the drinks. Most times I won't just say come down and experience it for yourself. But in this case, come on down and try it for yourself My recommendation is the burger. The chips that are served with it are made in the restaurant and they're amazing. What homemade potato chips should taste like thin lightly salted with sea salt apparently because it tasted so good. Come on down to the hatch and maybe I will see you there. Because this place is one that I will come back to...
